Anyone familar with MetJet

We were thinking of trying this airline. Could you be more specific as to why you would not try them please. I would really appreciate it.

I called in late February about a deal they were offering as I couldn't afford the $1800+ cost for 4 people until my next check in March(I don't use credit cards unless I know I can pay them off in time). The deal was buy one ticket, get 2 free which made the cost of one flight with them worth while on a per ticket basis. The woman I spoke to said she was the manager of customer service and that the deal would remain in affect until the April and May flights were sold out. I asked if there were any exceptions to that and she said "no" as they had several offers like this before that followed the same type of rule.

On March 11th I attempted to book and there were over 100 seats left for the May flight my family was interested in, but the promotion was no longer visible on the website. I called and spoke to the customer service manager and she stated that the promotion had ended on March 6th. When I told her about our call in February she remembered and said she was sorry, but the owner ended the promotion prematurely. I asked to speak to the owner and I did - he offered no apology and basically said I was SOL. When I found out he wasn't going to stand by the word of his own customer service manager I wanted nothing further to do with this company.

Hence the, "fly with them at your own risk". I don't take too kindly to companies who don't stand by their own word.

I'm gladly driving down to Milwaukee now for $150 less per ticket and getting better flight times - even with the $50 of gas for the car factored in.

It absolutely stinks that we can't get a trustworthy and reputable company/charter to fly from NE Wisconsin to Florida.

Oh gosh, now I'm scared. I just booked with them for late August. Tickets were pretty expensive, but we got the buy-one-get-one free deal, thinking we could use them for another trip next year.

Now I'm scared that a.) they won't be around next year when it comes time to use those free tickets, and b.) they won't even make it until August THIS year for our trip, or they will cancel.

Ahhh! What have I done?!?

Anyone else have experiences with them since this thread was started?

Last month, the Green Bay Press-Gazette ran a short article about MetJet's plan to raise money: De Pere-based MetJet plans sale of stock.

I hope MetJet has discovered an underserved market with a need. I hope that MetJet prospers. I like seeing entrepreneurs succeed.

That being said, I have my doubts about MetJet. The Green Bay area has a limited population and its airport is already served by regional jet service from American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines, with connections at major hubs to Florida and all over world. Driving to Milwaukee is another option. Too many other public charters have run through their investors' cash and then shut down -- but perhaps MetJet will not join the list of failures.

MetJet has a page devoted to using Disney's Magical Express with MetJet. It's an edited version of Disney's official information. Among other things, Metjet has added, "As a MetJet passenger, you must tell Disney that you are on Sun Country, as the carrier, as that is the carrier we use for flights into/out of Orlando." Presumably, the reason I have never seen a photo of an airplane painted in MetJet livery -- only photos of a model -- is that the planes aren't even painted in MetJet livery, but are Sun Country planes painted in Sun Country livery.

MetJets's refund policy is included on its terms & conditions page.

I've flown MetJet twice and it was great! Very friendly crew - plane was on time, no extra charges what so ever. Even got a sandwich and cookie on the flight down. . Flights costs were a little higher than Delta which is the other airline out of Green Bay to Orlando (however Delta does not fly direct like MetJet) and I got 6 free flights out of buying 3 so definitely worth the price. I know they are adding a new destination in the next month so I'm interested in where that will be. It doesn't sound like they will be going out of business any time soon but I guess you can never really know with these types of services. I surely hope they don't though since I am thrilled that I don't have to drive 2+ hours to Milwaukee for a flight and pay to park my car for 7 or more days. I at this point would recommend them :)

It's good to hear that you had a good experience. Out of curiosity, how many seats on the Boeing 737 aircraft (or what percentage of them) were occupied on each flight?

A public charter business model requires ticket revenue to exceed the cost of chartering the flights and covering the company's other expenses, at least on average. If that happens, the "airline" stays in business. If not, it runs through its money and investors don't want to throw good money after bad.

I hope that MetJet won't find itself in trouble when it has to honor all the vouchers for free flights, instead of selling those seats at regular price. Of course, that assumes they would otherwise sell them.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's hard for me to imagine that MetJet is achieving a good yield from point-to-point service between Green Bay (population approx. 100,000) and two leisure destinations. Leisure travelers expect to pay much lower fares than business travelers.

You can get connecting flights from Green Bay to Orlando International on American Airlines and United Airlines in addition to Delta Air Lines.

Both times I flew the planes were full - I actually had thought there would be at least a few empty seats based on the fact that they allow ticket purchasers to obtain the free vouchers even without flying but there was not an empty seat on any of the flights.

I agree and wonder how long they can maintain any profits with the constant buy one get two free promotion. It does concern me to see the promotion end only to be started up again week or two later. Seems they are not filling the seats without out it which obviously will be a problem at some point in the future.

I actually know someone that works for them and says they seem to be doing alright and the owner of the company is a really nice guy - so I certainly hope for the best for them but we will see.

I am happy at this point for the service - however I have prepared myself for the possible scenario that I may at some point have vouchers that will be worthless (I plan on using them in November - so I'm hoping they can hang on until then) To be honest I booked with them originally because of the buy 1 get 2 promo (we always drove to Milwaukee for our flights) but now I would fly them even without a promo due to the highly positive experience we had. For me the extra $50-$70 for the direct flight out and in to Green Bay is well worth it - the value of driving 10 minutes to the airport - getting through airport security in 5 minutes, getting on a plane and 3 hours later landing in Orlando or back in Green Bay is priceless - ok well not priceless but definitely worth the extra $$.

I will continue to give them my business and recommendation.

I just posted about MetJet on this forum yesterday and then found this thread via a google search.

I see the last response was back in April.

Any more news from any of you who posted in the original thread about MetJet?

This thread really gives mixed thoughts and I'm nervous about doing the buy one get two free if MetJet might not be in business for me to utilize the vouchers later.

We just flew with them last week. Full flight, good service. It's really too bad. With small kids the direct flight option is great.

I really wanted to try this company, but after speaking with the owner directly today I have no doubt this charter airline will not make it past the end of the year.

Any idea when our governemnt will restart? Or what the winnings lottery numbers will be. You were right on Metjet

We strongly considered using MetJet in Sept. for the buy one, get two free for a long birthday weekend at Disney using our DVC points.

We were just far too nervous about them making a go of it. We decided to go to the Dells for a long weekend instead.

I'm SO glad we didn't book with them. I feel so bad for the many friends I know who did and now have worthless vouchers. One man I know flew his family of 15 down to Orlando in June and had 2 free vouchers for each person that are now worthless. How awful!
