My DH wants to do one of the behind the scenes tours sometime. He wants to see the lower cast-member only level and access roads. I'm thinking about doing the MK behind-the-scenes tour. We are only going to be there for three days this time. Should we do the tour this time or should we leave it for a longer trip? Has anyone been on this tour? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,

I have done the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It was well worth it. They toured the cast member tunnel area, parade float storage area, and then we were taken on two rides, The Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. Lunch was across from the Haunted Mansion and was very good. I believe it was a four hour tour. I would recommend it.

We did KttK also. Loved it! Did the same things Connieh said. Had lunch at Columbia Harbor House.

I went on a (teens only) tour about 10 years ago as a 14-year old and I still remember to this day everything that we did. Seeing the costume department at MGM, touring the Ultilidors down below MK, seeing the make-up and wig department at MK, eating lunch at and touring the backstage area of the (now-defunct) Diamond Horseshow Revue, and then bussing over to Epcot and seeing the Behind the Scenes goings-on at Wonders of Life.

I still remember everything to this day...honestly, as a huge Disney fan, it was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had at the parks. Whether you do it on your short trip or a longer one, it will definitely be something you won't forget.

The Keys to the kingdom tour is excellent!

As for seeing the access roads...that is easy. The north exit/entrance (behind MK) is open now. One can easily drive past the contemporary, past Space mtn and follow this road to the back. At the stop sign turn right.
This is a backstage are - you can see the building where the monorail "goes to sleep" at night. Other than that the area is not that exciting.....cast parking lots mostly. Continue on out to the rear stop sign and turn Right. This is REAVES Rd....it will lead you up to CR535 light. Turn RIGHT. Follow this up ( a few miles) and you will be at the 535/Apopka Vineland corner. The Orlando Ale house is near this. Turn Right on AV go a few blocks to find the Crossroads and Hotel Blvd. Viola! Back on Disney property.

HAve fun.

Did the Keys to the Kingdom tour last Friday. As others have said it is well worth the money. Use AAA discount if you have it. We went on HM, POC and JC and had lunch at CHH. Our tour started at 9:00AM and ended around 1:30. I would suggest that you do the tour early in your visit, the first day if possible.

What is the minimum age for KTTK Tour? I don't want to spoil the magic for my 7 year old.

I think 16 but they have other tours for the family. DOn't know much about them but Keys to the KIngdom was amazing. We still talk about things we learned on our tour.

Children allowed on the Mickey Magic Milestone tour that does the MK. It different the Kttk, and fun tour.

:wave2:

Highly recommend KTTK tour. It was very interesting and didn't spoil any magic at all for me. I believe our guide said it was supposed to be about 2.1 miles total walking but you stop a lot to look at things plus the break for lunch is about 30 minutes, so you get plenty of rest stops.

Did you have to buy the ticket's from AAA or show your AAA when you buy them?

Bought them directly from Disney over the phone and never had to show my card.

I could be wrong but I think Disney Visa has a discount for Tours and you don't have to pay anything for the credit card.
