And I'm scared to no end. I'm 12 days away from going back to WDW. I already am not a fan of airports/flying, but my fear level went from a 1 on a scale of 1-10 to a 10. I travel by myself, which doesn't make things better or worse, but I'm plain old scared.

I do not have travel insurance on anything that I booked, and so I'm still going... I just feel very different going within 2 weeks of this shooting. Just so many questions... I felt safe when I was there in March, but I'm starting to fear closed spaces now (indoor lines, indoor rides, ect).

I hope I'm not alone in feeling this way. I know I'm not, and I know things like this could happen anywhere anytime. But this was the second shooting in Orlando recently (first was the singer). I know living in fear is not the answer and not living life is also not the answer.

Curious to know who is rescheduling their trip or cancelling, and who is still going?

I'm glad to hear that... I saw someone posted on another thread that they were cancelling which got the idea in my head.

Going in less than three weeks, concerned and cautious but no plans to cancel yet

Leave at 7 am tomorrow for 2 weeks of Disney and the beach. Not worried... BUT

kinda feel bad/guilty trying to be happy in Orlando tomorrow afternoon with so much sadness just happening.
Understandable. Shock and sadness there for sure. But try and enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

I'm also leaving in 12 days. The thought of cancelling never crossed my mind. I'm not scared, just anxious over the usual Disney stuff, crowds, weather, whether my plans will work out, etc. I do feel really bad for the victims and their families, but cancelling plans would be counter productive to helping the area.

Someone walked into a movie theater in a town an hour away from me (Lafayette, LA) and randomly shot people. I still go to the movies.

You can't let the threat of terrorism take the joy out of your life.

Go. Enjoy! I hope you have a wonderful trip :)

I'm a single mom taking my 11 year-old son in less than a month. I'm not afraid. For one thing, this did not take place at WDW at all. The terrorist was targeting gays, not Disney. Secondly, and more importantly, attacks can occur anywhere. Remember the Oklahoma City bombing? The Sandy Hook shooting? We're no safer in our hometowns, unfortunately.

Airports and Disney both have a lot of security, and naturally, security at both WDW and the MCO airport will likely be heightened this summer in response to this tragedy.

Try not to live in fear. We are so much more likely to die in a car accident, but most of us don't start shaking every time we get in a car. Have perspective, and enjoy your trip to its fullest. Plenty of us from the boards will be there this summer, too.

what happened can happen any where at any time if you do not go they win

I will be there hopefully Saturday ( if not it is because I will be in Omaha to see the baseball collage world series)
then I have a 2 day trip planned for the 4 of July that I will be going on.

there is a lot of security musser in place at disney some you see, some you do not, but you are just as safe maybe safer at disney as you are at your local park

I am heading solo in the beginming of July and I understand the fear. Last week my two children went to DC with their 8th grade class and sometimes I was uneasy. There were some parents who did not let their children go. They are home safe and sound but I do completely understand the fear. Tonight my children are at a Copa America soccer game which also had me a little uneasy. The game is over now and they should be headed home but until they are here I have a bit of the uneasiness. Not changing any plans but definitely in my mind.

We will be flying to Disney in 12 days. I have to say I'm a little nervous about it but we wont cancel. I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about this. This is the first time I have ever felt this way about going to Disney. The one thing that scares me the most is they say it is Isis that was the cause of the shootings.

We leave in 6 days. I'm not scared at all, this could happen anywhere. I'm more scared of flying than I am of being shot.

We arrive July 2. We're a little worried with what's just happened combined with our biggest patriotic holiday but hope Disney ramps up security.

If fear prevents you from doing normal things in life, not talking about bungee jumping or even roller coasters, then you might have a psychological issue that could benefit from therapy or even medication. A lot of people get anxious, but they don't let it run their lives. I am not saying you are doing that; however, your post sounds rather dramatic. To be completely honest, a crazy madman could probably break into your home at anytime, kill you, torture your, or take you prisoner. Do I worry about this happening? No, but it really could, and there is probably nothing you can do about it. Life is uncertain, but that's one of the things that makes it sweet. Good luck with your trip. Try to relax and possibly learn some meditation techniques.
