I believe MJ put himself in some questionable situations but with that said I also believe everyone of these parents saw this as nothing more than dollar signs. My wife and I are huge Michael Jackson fans, probably listen to his music every day, but if we had a child and ANY grown man wanted that child to come over for an unsupervised sleepover we would answer no. He is in IMO the greatest entertainer of all time and should definately be reinstated to the World of Disney. He has never been convicted of anything and at this point can not be. The greatest entertainer of all time and the greatest entertainment company of all time belong together in some fashion. HISTA was nothing more than 20+ minutes of air conditioning to almost everyone I've ever spoke to about it anyway, I personally did not enjoy it at all. As a kid I would watch Captain EO 5-10 times a day, glad it's back so i can share it with my nieces and nephews.

Michael, I think, was very, very lost and mixed up, from his past (the abuse he suffered etc). He was incredibly talented, I won't deny that, I don't think many of us can. He made some poor choices, yes, but not one of us on these boards will ever actually know what happened in Michael's life or during that specific period. We are not Michael, we are none of the children, we are none of the Jackson family, nor the children's family members, so I think we just need to move on or get back to discussing the original topic - "Anyone else not thrilled about Captain EO returning".

If Disney was uncomfortable with Michael's choices etc, they would have NEVER,EVER bought Captain EO back for a limited engagement. We are talking about Disney here, where children and families are a major priority.

Um, how about sleeping with little boys? Granted, he did it with their parents OK, since they wanted the money more than to protect their kids. But just because the adults were OK with it, does not make it right. He was a pedophile, and should be treated as such. Replaying Captain EO is ignoring the main thing MJ was. Not an artist...not a singer...not an entertainer. First and foremost he was a child molester....even though he was allowed to pay off the families or the children he molested. I am always flabbergasted when I hear people say "But he was such a great artist...the best ever!". Too bad that mindset got many more kids molested. If he was stopped when it first came out what he was doing, more kids would not have to have gone through that. One of his little child star victims (one of those 2 Corey's...I forget which one) came out and told about his molestation, but when he was blackballed by the Hollywood elite and the big shots in the music industry because of it, he withdrew his accusations. I don't need to see that movie. I watched MJ grow up into the monster he became. It sickens me that he would be honored at Disney World.

There are even tapes of him saying as much. the secretary of Evan's attorney (Geraldine Hughes) has even written a book about Evan Chandler and what she saw and heard during that time and the lies he invented to get revenge.

Mr. Jackson had to strip in front of doctors to examine his body to see if it matched the description by Evan's son. His description DID NOT match.

Then ofcourse there was the 2005 trial in which Michael was tried by a jury and found NOT GUILTY on all charges. There was no settlement. Watch the video "The Untold Story of Neverland" it's on Youtube. When you watch it you will see the true nature of the accusers, the Arvizos, that were the center of that case.
The mother was charged with welfare fraud and they tried to extort money from other celebrities(Chris Tucker), and J.C. Penney's as well. Mr. Jackson helped them when the son, Gavin, had a rare form of cancer and he helped the family with the medical expenses, etc.

As a child of the 80's who was a huge fan of MJ I am happy to see Captain EO return! It is a part of Disney history and I think it will be interesting to see again.

Wish Disney had not decided to do that. This man deserves no honors.

Yes, but at minimum, there are a few things we can say for sure:
- that he had some bad judgement in his relationships with minors
- that his actions (like sleepovers with pre teens) were not appropriate and not in the best interest of the children he had the relationships with
- that he put himself in positions that allowed him to be accused

Was he acquitted - yes, does this mean he is innocent - no. It means that there wasnt enough evidence to say that beyond a reasonable doubt he was convictable. In my mind regardless of the jury verdict, his actions make him a bad match with Disney parks.

Then why is it that several minors he was friends with defend him? Or recanted their "accusations."

So there is no accountability on the parents for ALLOWING their children to attend the sleepovers? Michael Jackson was never convicted and there was not 1 scrap of evidence (physical or otherwise) found. Did he have childhood issues? Absolutely! But that does not make him a pedophile.

Anyone can be put in a position that allows them to be accused. See the example made by another poster. Or my example:

A child is playing out front of my house and damages my garden with his soccer ball. I take said soccer ball as it is left on my property. The child is angry and goes home to tell Mom or Dad that I touched him inappropriately. I am arrested on charges of child molestation, but am I a child molester?

MJ was never convicted, in fact the FBI just released all of the papers they had on him and they never found one shred of evidence that he'd done anything wrong. The people that accused him were con artists, plain and simple. He wanted to go to court to fight the second allegations but his legal team told him not to, that it would damage his reputation further, so he settled out of court. He had the emotional maturity of a young person, at most 13. So of course he felt more comfortable around young people. He was a gentle, innocent soul and it makes me so angry when people talk about him like he was a monster. He was tortured by his father and endured so much pain in life. Read the Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones and you'll see what I mean.

Ok for sakes argument, let's say he is innocent of those charges, again it does not cover the fact that he's now known as a drug abuser. That alone is a reason why this man should not be martyred in a family outlet as WDW

Actually, there are suggestions that they didn't prevent it despite receiving warnings and tips. So yes, I believe that perhaps they were too nonchalant in regards to major security threats.

I'm VERY excited about Eo returning! There is no denying MJ's talents! He was a great singer/dancer/artist.

BUT to say he is innocent simply because he was found not guilty means NOTHING. OJ Simpson was also found not guilty. Would you allow your wife or kids to hang out with OJ?

And those who argue Tim Allen has just as bad track record as MJ, there's a HUGE difference - Tim Allen was convicted of a crime, did time in jail for it, and rehabbed.

he had multitudes of evidence that could lead you to believe this man was off ie. sleepovers etc., and that if he was not a famous singer who sang beat it, thriller etc, and he lived next door to you, you would have put this man UNDER the jail.

Look, I was a MJ fan back in the day, I liked his music, but not enough to overlook the things that have come to pass. Uh, Hitler is dead. Sadam Hussein is dead. Tim McVeigh is dead. John Wayne Gacy is dead. Yeah, I speak ill of the dead that did not live a life worth praising.

I know there are terrible reasons MJ turned out the way he did. His father was (is) a monster. That does not excuse him molesting kids. Yes, he was found not guilty. Did anyone listen to the interviews with the jury after the verdict? They all believed he was guilty, but they also believed the mother of the victim was a money grubber, and set her son up to be molested. They both should have gone to jail (Mj and the mom).

I'm not excited about it and I won't be going to this attraction. I saw Captain Eo when it was in the MK and I didn't like it then. I think MJ was a talented performer, but honestly he had too much controversy (true or not) surrounding his life to be "Disney" material. Likewise, I'm a huge Aerosmith fan. I love their music, but I don't think Aerosmith is Disney material either.

I'm really hoping that Disney either upgrades HISTA or comes up with another attraction to replace it other than Captian Eo.

My my, some of us here are great at judging people that they have never met on here. Disney puts in a 30 year old movie to replace a crappy 3d show and before you know it Hitler and serial kiilers are mentioned.

Facts are that for whatever MJ did or didn't do in his spare time, few can argue he was a great entertainer. As for all the other crap, unless you were actually there, how the heck can you so easily judge? And if you hate him for being a drug abuser, you might as well throw out 90% of your albums right now.
