Anyone else not thrilled about Captain EO returning?

Uh, Hitler is dead. Sadam Hussein is dead. Tim McVeigh is dead. John Wayne Gacy is dead.

I think there is a rather LARGE difference between Hitler, Sadam Hussein, Tim McVeigh and Michael Jackson. That's all I'm going to say on that.

I think this thread either needs to go back on topic (ie Captain EO) or needs to be closed, because honestly, Michael Jackson is one of those topics that can go either ways.

My my, some of us here are great at judging people that they have never met on here. Disney puts in a 30 year old movie to replace a crappy 3d show and before you know it Hitler and serial kiilers are mentioned.

Facts are that for whatever MJ did or didn't do in his spare time, few can argue he was a great entertainer. As for all the other crap, unless you were actually there, how the heck can you so easily judge? And if you hate him for being a drug abuser, you might as well throw out 90% of your albums right now. :rotfl:

:laughing::lmao::thumbsup2
ITA!!!

My family won't be seeing it. Putting the child molestation accusations aside the drug abuse is still there and still wrong no matter the reasons. My step son was raised by his drug addict mother who became addicted due to cronic pain. That did not excuse her from being a good parent and making responsible decisions. Her poor choices lead to a life of heartbreak, neglect and abuse for my step son. He moved in with us last year and we have had so many heart to hears about drug abuse. We will not be celebrating a celebrity who had a drug addiction. Do I think he was talented? Yes I do. I know he had a hard life, I don't believe that excuses his bad choices.

Bottom line to me he does not scream Disney material.

Why stop there then?

Lion King: Elton John (drug abuse)
Alladin: Robin Williams (drug abuse)
Toy Story: Tim Allen (Delivery of a controlled substance)
Cars: George Carlin (drug abuse)
Monsters Inc: Steve Buscemi (gambling and drugs)
Pirates of the Caribbeean: 2 words KEITH RICHARDS
UP: Laraine Newman (drugs)
Incredibles: Samuel L Jackson (Unlawful confinement)

Heck Walt himself dropped out of high school and smoked. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!

My point is, it's very easy to sit at home and judge entertainers and everyone else on the planet for their misgivings.

Judge entertainers on their entertainment value, not their morals.

People are certainly free to factor Michael Jackson's personal life into their decision to see Captain EO, but the Theme Parks board is not the place to debate the details of his life. This thread is now closed.
