Anyone else have a tall daughter?

My 16 year old daughter is 6'2" (and she's been that height for a few years now). She gets it from her 6'8" dad. At 5'9", I'm downright petite in our house!

Naturally, people always ask if she plays basketball, but soccer is actually her sport. She is a goalkeeper, and if I can brag for a moment, one of the best in her age bracket in our state. A college scholarship is a real possibly. But the most important thing to me is that she loves to play and it's helped her become much more comfortable with her height.

Deep down, she's still a little girl at heart, though. No one is more excited to plan our Disney trips than her. And you'll find more Anna & Elsa stuff in her room than my 8 year old's.

Thanks for letting me share a little! Out of curiosity, I just wanted to see if anyone else on here had a tall daughter as well, maybe even one like mine that eclipsed the 6 foot mark. (Oh, and tips on where to find jeans and women's size 12 shoes are always welcome, LOL.)

She sounds great - I'd love to be tall! Alas, I'm short and our DS ended up short too - at 19 it seems he's topped out at 5'1". Pretty disappointing for him. Although I'm only 5'0, his DDad is 6'2" and we all expected more for him. He also has my tiny hands and feet. Size 5 men's shoes are probably harder to find than size 12 ladies.

Not as tall as yours but she's about 5'8. The tallest (besides her Dad, 6'3) in the family. My oldest is about 5'7 and my youngest is not even 5'5. I'm guessing she got her genes from my Mom's side of the family. She is 4' 11 3/4 (she ALWAYS has to throw in that 3/4 ).

I don't have a daughter but have always been tall. There's a great shoe selection at bidawideshoes. They have a store in Miami but ship all over the world. They also carry hard-to-find men's sizes.

My dd is 5'10''. She's always been the tallest in her class..including boys until she got to high school!!! She's now almost 23 and heading to WDW to do the College Program. Does she mind being tall? Not really. Her boyfriend is 5'2'', if you can believe that!!!! But, her height does limit any characters she could play in WDW!! So, that's probably not an option for her. She worked at Six Flags NE over the past two summers, and did character work but with the taller guys...Sylvester, Foghorn Leghorn and ScoobyDoo!
Sports? She was a decent basketball player....but she wasn't into sports. Theater was her big thing. And again, no big leading roles for her since all the guys were shorter than her.

My 9-year old daughter is very tall. I don't know her exact current height, but she skies above all the other 4th graders. I just bought her women's size 11 shoes for school. The various prediction methods have her topping out around 6'4". She's not big into sports, but she is a brilliant student, always 99th percentile in standardized tests. (Do I sound like a typical DIS parent yet?) She likes soccer, but not very seriously. Her favorite teacher is also the volleyball coach, so maybe she'll develop an interest in that.

My girls are 5'11" and 5'9". Dd22 has good luck finding falls at Old Navy online. At 5'10" I will either be the shortest or second shortest in the family, depending if younger DD grows a bit more or not. Her younger brother is already at 6' at 14.

My 13 year old is 5'10". She wears a men's 10.5 shoe, which I think is a women's 12.5. We've stopped trying to find shoes in the women's section. Luckily, converse are in style and she can wear them with pretty much anything. Other than that and athletic shoes, it is really hard to find women's shoes that are size 12+.

Dd does play sports. She had a wrist XRay not too long ago and her growth plates are still wide open. Not sure how much taller she'll get, but her sports are volleyball and basketball and it's good to be tall.

Good luck finding shoes! It's a major ordeal to shoe shop with my daughter.

My DD is 18 and is 5"10 also and my DS is 14 and 5"10 1/2. I keep shrinking and they keep growing..

My 15.5 year old granddaughter is 6' (last time measured). She plays basketball and volleyball. Like your daughter, still is a little girl at heart and loves her Disney trips. Her older sister stopped at about 5'10". She also plays volleyball and basketball. Their 9 year old sister is off the charts and will probably be the tallest of the three. I would also like to hear suggestions on where to get clothes for tall girls so I can pass it on.

At one time I was a big volleyball nut, and of course height is an advantage. I've me quite a few of these 6'3" or taller girls, and many still are still total girly girls, wearing lots of pink, giggling all the time, with girly walking.

I fall just under the 5' line and I've always claimed 4'11'' and 3/4 as well!!

DH is 6'3''. Our DD will be turning 5 in a few months, she's at 42'' right now and currently in a growing spurt. She was born prematurely and was always so small, it's just been the last six months she has outgrown many in her age group. I've always hoped she at least crosses the 5' mark but she's into gymnastics so maybe not as tall as DH!

As far as shoes, I wouldn't know about women's but DH wears a 14W and he has the best luck at Kohls. They always seem to have much more in his size than even the local shoe stores.

Wow! I'm 5'10" and one of the shortest if not the shortest out of most family and all friends. Maybe there's something in the water around here!
I wish I could offer advice on clothes and shoes, but because I'm plus size, the stores that I shop at usually have my height covered.

I will share a bit of advice from my grandfather about my big feet: tall buildings need a good foundation!

At 9.5/10 my feet are the biggest of all the ladies in the family.

My daughter is 12 (will be 13 next week), and she is now 5'9". She does play basketball, so she's hoping for another inch or two in her future.

Yep! DD13 was just measured at 5' 11.5" at her physical earlier this month, and she's still growing. She doesn't like basketball at all, and HATES when people make a big deal about how she should play. She does play volleyball and softball though. She loves being tall, and I think she has a couple more inches to go.

I also just bought her size 12 shoes. Luckily, she isn't in to brand names, so I get a lot of her shoes at Payless, where they carry women's shoes to size 12 (ballet flats, or Toms or Sperry-styles). I order athletic shoes online, usually from amazon. Jeans/leggings are from Old Navy. Just a note, the "tall" size category pants are much longer than the regular-size "longs." The downside is that they are only available online, so I have to order a bunch, have her try them on, then return what doesn't work. She doesn't mind though, because she hates going to the mall to try things on. I'm 6ft tall too, so I can appreciate how much easier it is to find those sizes than when I was her age (back in the dark ages before the Internet was invented)

I will share a bit of advice from my grandfather about my big feet: tall buildings need a good foundation!

My grandma used to tell me that if tall people had little feet, they'd tip over.

I wore 10s until I had my 2nd baby and have been in 11s since then.

If she's that tall, you may want to expand her horizons. Basketball & volleyball would increase her options for a full scholarships. Take advantage of your good fortune.
