Anyone else have a tall daughter?

Just as an aside, you know tall girls hate to hear this? Not everyone likes sports and not everyone is athletically talented.

6 footer. 6 ft tall by age 13 and stopped growing then.

Target jeans are the best! They come in a variety of lengths and cuts and the tall is actually tall and the price is affordable.

Ann Taylor stuff is really long as is Banana Republic.

Can't help you with shoes as she wears a 10, but I will 2nd Zappos. They seem to carry many sizes.
Since the OP stated her DD plays soccer, I feel pretty safe in assuming she likes sports. She may not like all of them, but it's fairly obvious that she at least likes soccer.

IJS. Being tall and having a tall kid I will tell you, "Do you play basketball" "You should play basketball" is on the list of things we HATE to hear.

My 29 yo DD is 5'9". This came from my mom's side of the family with my Uncle being almost 6' and my brother being 6'2". Me - just 5'6.5". She buys jeans from JCP - Arizona brand and finds the length great. Plus they also have tall length, which is great for those with long legs. While I am shorter, I always had problem with pant length. I got long legs, but no height. When I was her age I couldn't find size 2 with a long length (only weighed 100lbs). Now companies are making pants for those with longer legs. She gets her shoes at Target but she is size 10.

Identical twins both at 6' just starting their junior year in the university of delaware nursing program.

Both have boyfriends around 5'10". But when out with the girls it is 4 inch heels.

Lands end was the place for pants. Tops could come from anywhere. And shoes were not as issue as they are both 9.5/10.

My nearly 9 year old daughter is well over 5 feet tall (I can't remember her exact height.) Of course i'm 6'2", and my wife has height on her side of the family.

The hardest thing is finding age appropriate clothes for her.....

::yes::
If she's that tall, you may want to expand her horizons. Basketball & volleyball would increase her options for a full scholarships. Take advantage of your good fortune. ;)

Heck no, if she's good; being a tall soccer goalie will give her lots of scholarship opportunities too! More of her to take up that net, especially if she has a long wing span.

I'm tall 5'11", played basketball and volleyball, but just an ok player. I guess I made the team because of the old saying, You can't teach height. My husband is 6' and my one athletic dd20 only got to be 5'7 1/2" (she is a good basketball player and we were hoping she'd get taller) and our other DD18 is 5'7". Our DS16 is about 6'1" he may have another inch or so in him.

I hated being tall as a kid because I towered over all the boys and I was never one to like anyone shorter than me. Now I love it because it allows me to be a little heavier and not look too bad. I always shopped anywhere that had tall sizes and now with the internet you can order tall sizes at just about any store. When I was young, not so much.

Long Tall Sally's is a British store but they have a catalog and ship (I think from Canada). My granddaughter is 5'10" and has ordered a few things from them; a 6' friend told me about them. They also have shoes, and I think their smallest size might be a 10. They have a website.

My 16 year old daughter is 6'2" (and she's been that height for a few years now). She gets it from her 6'8" dad. At 5'9", I'm downright petite in our house!

Naturally, people always ask if she plays basketball, but soccer is actually her sport. She is a goalkeeper, and if I can brag for a moment, one of the best in her age bracket in our state. A college scholarship is a real possibly. But the most important thing to me is that she loves to play and it's helped her become much more comfortable with her height.

Deep down, she's still a little girl at heart, though. No one is more excited to plan our Disney trips than her. And you'll find more Anna & Elsa stuff in her room than my 8 year old's.

Thanks for letting me share a little! Out of curiosity, I just wanted to see if anyone else on here had a tall daughter as well, maybe even one like mine that eclipsed the 6 foot mark. (Oh, and tips on where to find jeans and women's size 12 shoes are always welcome, LOL.)
Have you tried "Long tall Sally" there's a location in Mall of America. They did have one in Illinois as well I'm not sure that ones there any longer. But they do have a catalog. At least they carry things that are smaller in the waistline since junior waistlines are often not big enough to fit most tall clothing. They also carry shoes in larger sizes, definitely 12s.
For inexpensive($7-15) basic T-shirts you may wish to try "woman within" catalog. (Get their smallest size in total cotton, it shrinks immensely and are generous in their sizing so go for something same size or smaller than she wears. You can get a ton of basic colors that are long enough in the body. I haven't tried the long sleeve yet so I can't advise you there.

My dd is 10 and 5'7 she has women shoe size of 8 us. She is growing to be 6'6. Her older sister is 16 and 6'3 and shoe size women 13 us. She is growing to 6'4. I am 6'5 and shoe size 16. their dad is 6'7. They both play volleyball.

My best friend growing up is 6'2" (basketball was her sport, and she played Club in undergrad), she always had great luck with J. Crew when it came to finding clothing.

My daughter and I are 5'10. My son and husband are 6'4'' My sister is 6'1" and her husband is 6'6" ( he is the shortest in his family).

There is a store called LONG TALL SALLY. They fit me sister great but my daughter and I are on the short side. They have a good selection of shoes.

My oldest daughter is 5'9". I'm 5'3", hubby is 5'9" (but he says 5'10"). Younger daughter is 5'5". Both daughters grew in college, years after getting their periods.

Oldest daughter was small until she quit gymnastics. Started skating, smallest on the synchro team to start. When she aged out of the junior level (age 16 and under), she was the second tallest.

I don't have a daughter but I'm 6'0" tall and have been since I was at least 15... I've always kind of hated it because you get comments from strangers almost every day essentially pointing out that you're a freak of nature: "Wow, you're SO TALL!"

I was never a good athlete even though I tried basketball in middle school. I was terrible at it even though I towered over everyone. Being tall does not automatically mean being skilled at sports, that's for sure. Even now, random people ask me if I play basketball... Really? I'm 43, where am I playing basketball? Lol

For clothes, I like Gap and Old Navy tall sizes-- their jeans are a 36" inseam which is what I wear. I wear a 10.5 or 11 shoe so I have good luck online but not as much in stores. I have noticed that Nordstrom Rack has a modest selection of 12s in their stores, though.

My 9-year old daughter is very tall. I don't know her exact current height, but she skies above all the other 4th graders. I just bought her women's size 11 shoes for school. The various prediction methods have her topping out around 6'4". She's not big into sports, but she is a brilliant student, always 99th percentile in standardized tests. (Do I sound like a typical DIS parent yet?) She likes soccer, but not very seriously. Her favorite teacher is also the volleyball coach, so maybe she'll develop an interest in that.

Sounds like my daughter. She's in a size 8 1/2 shoe, though.

My 13 year old is 5'10". She wears a men's 10.5 shoe, which I think is a women's 12.5. We've stopped trying to find shoes in the women's section. Luckily, converse are in style and she can wear them with pretty much anything. Other than that and athletic shoes, it is really hard to find women's shoes that are size 12+.

Dd does play sports. She had a wrist XRay not too long ago and her growth plates are still wide open. Not sure how much taller she'll get, but her sports are volleyball and basketball and it's good to be tall.

Good luck finding shoes! It's a major ordeal to shoe shop with my daughter.

I posted this a year ago and dd is now 6' tall. Her pediatrician said last month that her growth curve hasn't peaked yet so she's not done growing. She absolutely hates the attention she gets from being tall. People can be so rude. She had an eye appointment last week and the dr stopped talking mid-sentence and then apologized for "being so distracted" by her height. Poor thing. She just wants to be like everyone else.

I'm sorry to hear that your DD hates the attention. I agree people make stupid comments sometimes, but luckily we haven't encounter much that I would consider truly rude. The eye doctor comment was really odd, and I'd likely be annoyed too. Hugs to your DD!

My DD14 loves being 6 ft tall, and just wore almost 4 in heels to Homecoming. I think it helps that she plays volleyball, so her height is an asset. Heck, she'd love a couple more inches!

I only have boys but I am a tall daughter!
It's taken me my whole life to accept myself. DH is much shorter than me and all 3 boys are surprisingly tall and my DH is now the smallest in the family.
We live in Canada but when we go to USA my favorite store for shoes is Nordstrom. Old Navy tall (online) is great as well.

I have 3 sons...but my shortest son, at 5'11, has a 6'1" girlfriend. She likes Buckle jeans...I think she has a 36" inseam! Her feet are a size 9, so pretty easy to find. She has a brother that is 6'7. My tallest son is 6'5.

I am a tall daughter, 6'5". If I had a penny for every time someone informed me I'm tall or picked on me for my height, I would be a billionaire. Tall people don't realize how tall they are, it's normal to us. When I see picture of myself with normal height people, I realize why strangers are so shocked. As far as shoes, Payless online goes up to size 13 in women's (which is what I wear) and Old Navy online tall is great, as well as JC Penney online tall women's. Inseams kill me, but the pants I get at Penney's tend to be perfect or slightly long, which is great. :)

I have a half sister that's 6'2" and have a grown daughter that's 4'8". Quite a span! I fit right in the middle of them.
