anyone else hate buying certain necessities??

I feel your pain! I have been buying them forever too! I will most likely have 3 in diapers when this little one is born! :scared1: Hopefully my almost 2 year old will be potty trained or close to. My daughter has developmental delays and I don't forsee her being potty trained for many more years. :( So, we just keep buying 'em....no choice in the matter....an no, we won't use cloth diapers.

For all those of you still buying diapers for little ones with special needs. :cloud9: ..You may want to check with your insurance company. My son has autism and we found out that we would have qualified for financial aid to help pay for diapers after a certain age. If your insurance company won't, then often times children with special needs qualify for financial assistance through your state. I forget the specifics but when we looked at the paperwork you could order a case of diapers from a participating pharmacy(like CVS) and they would pay for them. By some miracle my son is almost completely potty trained (with the exception of a pull-up at night) so we didn't look into it any further. HTH! :)

While the above post doesn't apply to our family, it may be wonderful news for some families here. It never hurts to ask and insurance OFTEN covers things we wouldn't expect!

:disrocks: -- so wonderful how people help others on the DIS!!

Since I was the OP who started this thread, I wanted to thank everyone for their replies! Nice to know others feel the same and as always, some of you made me LOL!

Hey delmar411 ~

I received your PMs but my reply PM came back to me??

Please check your PM again ~ I think its ok now, sorry!

Thought of another one (sorry if it's been posted already):

Thanks for the suggestion. DH ask once about discounted diapers through one state group. A very nice lady researched it and called back to suggest we go to church clothing giveaways because they often get the adult diapers. I tried to explain that we weren't totally impoverished, just feeling the pinch of paying for the diapers.

I never got anywhere with the insurance company either.

Good ideas, though. Maybe others will have better luck.

I hate buying pads! I try to find freebie sites where you can sign up to get free samples of toothpaste, deodorant, pads, etc. (Walmart's site has a good section where you can get freebies). I put them all in a basket and when I'm tight on cash, I just use my little sizes. I also stock up on hotel travel items for the same purpose.

I hate paying my bills. $440 for hydro and not even having the central air on is a killer. I hate filling my van(there goes the kids collage fund). I really don't like car insurance because my dh had 2 accidents in 3 years they more then doubled it to over $3000 a year. Dentest is also bad. I and the kids have bad teeth every time we see the dentest we get a big bill. Just to fill a few teeth they put my kids under which costs $500 and my insurance will only pay out $1000.getting teeth cleaned is abou $200 and we go in 2x a year.

Food! I hate to go to the grocery! We just eat it all up in no time, and then I have to go back. And the price of everything is increasing there too! I just wish we didn't feel the need or have the necessity to eat so often! And I would be skiinnier too :rotfl2:

I joined a site where I created an order where 1 time I figured out how often I needed to buy toilet paper, deodorant, shampoo, vitamins, laundry detergent, dish soap, toothpaste, cleaning supplies etc. So now, it just comes automatically!!!:cool1:
It's like getting a gift now because it's delivered to my house which while I pay for shipping, is cheaper than trips to pick up the items which run out at different times otherwise!:) Now it's no problem.

DIAPERS!

I've been buying them for about the last 21 years.

I have three daughters. It seemed like I just got one out of diapers and the next one was born.

My youngest DD will be 14yo in July but because she has a genetic disease, she isn't able to be toilet trained.

I will especially hate buying them when she out-grows the Huggies size 6. I will need to buy them from a medical supply store at the cost of about $1.00 a piece. :scared1:

I saw Pampers size 7's in the store the other day. I think they were 41lbs+. Hope this helps save you from $1 diapers a little longer!!
