My daughter and I started Weight Watchers on June 14 and we are doing really well. It has been one of the best "diets" we have tried as far as not going hungry and choice of foods. We have a trip planned in December and have decided if we keep up the good work until then, we will pretty much eat what we want while we are there. I have read lots of posts stating that you really don't gain too much because you walk so much. Wish us weight loss luck until then!!

Doing it together is great- you've got a built in cheerleader and support system!

Have you checked out the WISH board here on the DIS? WISH stands for We're Inspired to Stay Healthy. You'll find LOTS of Weight Watchers sharing ideas and encouragement there. You'll also find lots of folks on other plans... our common goal is getting healthier.

See my signature? I did that with the support of the great folks on the WISH board. Come check us out!

I'm planning on joining as soon as they have some special going on. I hope I can lose some weight.

Definately stop by the W.I.S.H. boards. I don't stop by as often as I should but there is lots of support for dieters there. Doesn't matter what type you are on. (I do WW also...love the program)

Yeah for you!!!! You will love the program. I have lost 40 lbs with WW... counting my points and going to the meetings. It is great you can eat real food and still lose weight - yes, that is from the commercial but it's true...

Definately go to the WISH Board there is great WW advice, food ideas and all around great group of people. there is a lot of us doing WW over there and we really help each other out.

Also the WW web site is great too... I just got a brownie recipie there tonight. I do the free web site not the "members" one and it has hundreds of recipies...

Good Luck

I'm counting points too! I originally started last summer and lost 20 pounds, half way to my goal. Then I gained it all back over the winter. I've recomitted and so far I'm down almost 10. Hope to see you over on the WISH board!

I'm on WW, too! It is a great way to lose weight, although I haven't been too good this summer. It's hard with the kids! (or I'm just weak!) Anyway, I keep track of my points on line and they have some good message boards. Good luck to you!

Hi! Yeah, counting those points for 3 weeks now -- I've been trying to lose the same 20 pounds for 10 years and --- ack! couldn't do it! I weighed in 4 pounds lighter today and think that this system is so sensible I don't see why I can't go all the way!

Thanks for all the encouragement and for directing me to the WISH board. I never knew that was what that stood for.
It is easier doing this with my daughter. We actually just ordered the AT HOME program and it was very self explanatory and is so easy to follow. She did not want to go to meetings so we decided to try it this way on our own. We work different schedules so it would have been difficult to try to go together anyway. I think the key is preparation and she is a big help to me in this way. She works nights, so she cooks during the day and I have dinner waiting on me when I get home! That way, I don't have to take the time to fix anything or worse, grab something I shouldn't for instant gratification when I walk in the door. We plan to hang in there, so keep your fingers crossed for us!

Another "point" counter here! I think it's one of the better, healthier programs out there. It's easy to follow, and you really aren't deprived of anything.

If you don't already know about them, for a sweet/treat/dessert, I love Skinny Cow's mint ice cream sandwiches. They're only 2 points and they are soooo good! I like them better than the Weight Watcher's brand.

I don't remember seeing them in the stores here, but I will look closer. Can you tell me which grocery you got them from. I have tried all the WW ones, and I think they are good so I should really love these. I lover mint ice cream! As a matter of fact, sweets are my weakness, so that is the one thing I miss the most. I am a cakeaholic!

I lost 30 pounds and became lifetime June 2003. I still go to meetings and have kept the weight off for over a year. And I still count points, but not every day.

Skinny Cow also has a wonderful choc peanut butter ice cream. I have been able to find them at most of our grocery stores, they also have the name silloutte (sp?) on it.

I just wanted to warn you about going off WW while you are on vacation... it is SO hard to get back on track when you return! I had lost 20 lbs with WW, and when I went on the Disney cruise, and to the parks, I ate whatever and didn't worry about it. Granted, that was also during the holidays, but I never could get a firm grip on the program again and finally quit in February. After going to the Dr. yesterday they weighed me, and sadly to say, I have regained all of the lost weight! :( I'm thinking about rejoining WW when their new program comes out in August.

Good luck to you!

Ditto to DisneyFan-I lost over 20 lbs. before WDW vacation-ate whatever I wanted while there and didn't gain anything. Unfortunately, I have gained it all back since then. That "at home" program sounds great-might try that. I love the Skinny Cow bars as well-they have a yummy cookies and cream bar. I bought mine at a local grocery store chain-Redner's.

I guess I just assumed we could get right back on track when we get home, but I guess you all are right. It would be like going back to prison after being free!! Disneyfan551, what is the new plan you are talking about in August?

I'm really curious about the new plan in August too, as I've been considering doing WW.

Have they released any info on how the plan will be different from what they have now?

-16 lbs here. Got another 50lbs to go. YES!!! I will make it though. I did it before then had a baby and am working on it again. It took me 10mo's last time, but this time it's not coming off as easy.

Plan
Point Count
Portion Control

I don't know details about the new program, but I am sure it'll be good. Just don't buy a bunch of materials before it comes out. Just a suggestion.
