Does anyone have dining experiences at the TS restaurants in Japan? I think one is Japanese steak house style, where they cook at your table? Is there another one? What is it like?

Tokyo dining is a regular TS sit down restaurant. Their speciality is sushi. I've never been. Within that same area, just on another side, is Teppan Edo. This is hibachi/teppanyaki (where they cook in front of you). We love Teppan Edo! Food is very delish! And the chefs put on a good 'show'. :thumbsup2

Yes, Teppan Edo is the hibachi style restaurant. We love it. It's our first choice for Candlelight every year, if it's available.

We always have lunch at Tokyo dining...My husband just can't get enough of sushi I always get the tempru which is always very good..Love the rest.:cool1:

Teppan Edo is a fave. The staff is always amazing there and the food is delicious!

We've eaten at both and really enjoyed them. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and we have never been disappointed with our meals. My SIL who is a very picky eater went with us this past November and ended up loving it.

We too have been to both and enjoyed both very much. They are different experiences.
Many here on the DIS will tell you if you have a Japanese, hibachi style restaurant near home not to go to Teppan Edo. But to me it is better than anything near where I live. The major differences are that Teppan Edo does not include soup and salad, nor does it serve fried rice. Fried rice is chinese and Teppan Edo is authentic Japanese.
Tables at Teppan Edo are for 8 and you sit around the grill. The chef performs a "show" as he prepares your dinner in front of you.
We also enjoyed Tokoyo Dining. It is a quieter atmosphere and service is outstanding. I enjoyed a Tempura entree very much.

While I like Teppen Edo, it is your typical hibachi steakhouse. It is good, don't get me wrong, but if you have a good hibachi place near you, you might consider other options at Epcot.

ITA with this. It's hibachi, and really nothing special as far as hibachi goes. We have much better hibachi options at home.

Teppan Edo has really wonderful service- like you have a refilled drink without asking- super nice CM's there. Super clean- beautiful place. And the food is consistantly great. They are great with kids and it's entertaining.

Another that agrees with this:/

Been to both, and they are both fantastic! We tried Tokyo Dining for the first time two trips ago, and everyone agreed it was the best meal of the trip (including two notoriously picky eaters). DH had some sort of steak bento box and proclaimed it the best steak he's had on Disney property (we've been to Le Cellier, Coral Reef, etc. multiple times).

I would say that it is hibachi which you probably have at home. However, DH and I really enjoyed our meal here. I had the fillet and it was melt in your mouth tender. If you want some unique dining experience I would say skip it. If you know what to expect and what a good meal I would say go for it.

I guess I will be the odd man out here. We didn't love it. :worried:
The star of our veggie serving was onions..onions...a few mushrooms and zucchini and then a few more onions.
The steak was tender and the shrimp were good - I had the scallops..super small serving (and I am not a big eater ) - think I got 4 or 5 small ones.
The upside for us: The presentation is fun and the service was excellent.

We just watched a video on You Tube where the chef made a Mickey holding a Mickey Balloon out of the vegetables. Do they always do that? It is making me want to go on our trip!
