Anyone eaten at Japan in Epcot?

Teppan Edo is one of our favorite TS at Epcot. Whenever we ask our kids, DD(6) and DS(4), where they want to eat on our upcoming trip, they both say this as one of the top choices. Great food and the Chefs are lots of fun.

We ate at Tokyo Dining two years ago and have an ADR for our trip next month. My daughter loves all things Japanese and this meal was her hands down favorite, and as she is planning this years' trip, she decided on Tokyo Dining. The food is good, but the real pleasure of Tokyo dining is getting a window seat looking over World Show Case lagoon. The view was spectacular especially at sunset. The service quite good. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself is somewhat modern; different than most Epcot restaurants. We are a quiet bunch and thought that the louder, busier Teppan Edo was not our thing.

I kinda miss the old restaurant set up, where they used to have the Tempura Rooms where you sit around a sushi bar set up, and the smaller lounge.

We like Tokyo Dining. It has good sushi. Not amazing or anything, but pleasant enough for a relaxing lunch or a dinner with a partial view of Illuminations.

We tried Teppen Edo a year ago and would not go back. Why?

1. It's a Japanese steakhouse. If you have a Benihana or similar one near you, then "been there, done that".

2. I don't see the entertainment in having a chef play with my food while cooking it.

3. I don't like a meal where everything is sliced and diced and thrown into a bowl of rice.

4. Atmosphere is noisy and not at all conducive to a quiet break from the parks.

5. We thought it was ridiculously expensive for some diced shrimp and chopped beef over rice.

Tokyo Dining as stated is mostly sushi. And If your looking for that it is very good. Been twice and enjoyed it.

NOTE1: The hibachi tables seat eight (two each side, four
front side). Sometimes they can squeeze nine if several kids.
Depending upon the chef, it can be exciting and entertaining,
or it can be almost dull. Quality is below a Benihana, but above
average for Japanese cuisine. It should be noted that medium
or large appetites will probably want to stop before or after
dinner for a snack, as the portions are medium-sized and big
eaters can leave hungry. (Just to answer a common question,
they only serve white rice, as fried rice is Chinese.)

NOTE2: We think the Benihana at the Hilton in the Downtown
Disney Hotel District is better than Teppan Edo for both food
quality and "the show" the chef puts on.

NOTE: The seating is at "regular" tables versus hibachi grill
tables or sitting on the floor. The sushi is just above average.
For those on DDP, ala carte Sushi dishes are not covered.
There is a good selection of dishes Americanized to suit guests
not enamored with Japanese food. Viewing of Illuminations from
the limited number of window seats is good. If you like Japanese
cuisine, this will do; if you are an aficionado, this will not do; if
you are a beginner in Japanese cuisine, it is fine.

We enjoyed Teppan Edo and we have fantastic hibachi style dining available where we live. The food is fresh and feels light compared to some WDW meals. I walk away full but not feeling like I have been stuffed to the gills.

My DD loves the entertainment from the chef and doesn't get fidgety like she does at other dining establishments.

There was just a review on the Disney Food Blog:
