I was curious what to expect. We have been selected for the Saturday 2 session. I am really excited. But, after reading some other posts about standing around for hours, I'm a little worried that my children might get bored. Any comments?

While I've never done the Christmas parade taping at WDW (but will be this year!!) I have been an extra in a few other things. There is a lot of standing around, waiting!! From what I understand, if you are going to be one of the extras for the parade taping, you could be standing in one place for an hour and then see a float, then another long wait and so on. This is the reason I'm so glad I'll be solo this trip. There is no way my dd or dh would be able to do this. While my dd, 12, has done stagework and realizes how much 'hurry up and wait' goes on, it would be miserable at WDW.
Depending on how old your child is, it could be pretty boring after a bit.

My family and I were in MGM back in December of '97 and were asked to stand along the street for the parade. We were right at the front and when we saw it on TV, there we were!! It was fun from that standpoint. But actually taping it, it lasted forever. They were performing the Zero to Hero song from Hercules and if I hear that song one more time, I just scream, even from that long ago. I was actually pregnant at that time with DD7 and got to where I couldn't stand there any longer and sat down and left my family there. We also didn't have any children with us, all adults, but I know I got bored.

It does get boring because you do more standing around than you do yelling and screaming and clapping when the parade comes by.

How did you get selected. and does the general public get to see the parade or do they corner off areas. We will be in WDW during this time and it would be neat to see the parade while we are there. So how does the filming work.

Thanks for your help.

I followed a link on the passholder website and just got a reply today. I checked today and it says that all sessions are filled for taping.

No reason why you can't stand with the crowd when you get to MK. You won't get the free pass into the park but you can participate in the crowd scenes.
