anyone been afraid of normal things?

Balloons scare the crap out of me. Don't bring them near me!

Also biscuit cans. Not sure what that one is about. My DH has to open them for me. What's really strange is my brother has the same fear. We decided our mom must have beat us with biscuit cans when we were kids and we have repressed the memory. :rotfl2:

This one had me cracking up! :lmao:

I'm not terrified of anything, but there are a few things that kinda freak me:

-Looking up the inside of a hot air balloon.
-Looking in an empty swimming pool.(the big deep ones)

Also situations where I have no control:
-Riding in an airplane
-Elevators (but I love Tower of Terror)
-Being in the middle of a line at a drive thru with a curb to the side and no where to escape. (this one's sad but true)

:lmao: I am glad I am not the only one freaked out by the toliet:rolleyes1 I always imagine a snake comming up to bite me. No idea where I got that from. It is absolutely nutty I know but I have to will myself to not freak out when I go.

Don't ever go to Montana and stop in some of their rest stops. Unless it has changed, we stopped at an unmanned rest stop where the toilets were seats on top of holes. LIke an outhouse. :scared1:

I don't particularly like basements or pool drains (thanks to the movie Alligator as a kid).:rotfl:

TV snow or fuzziness thanks to poltergeist (sp?) and really foggy dusk or dawn. Also we have a laundry shoot right outside our bedroom. If the light gets left on in the basement it makes a perfect glowing ring. I was horrified for months after watching the Ring and wouldn't even watch commercials for The Ring II.

WOW do glad I'm not the only one that is afraid of the toilet ..:dance3::cheer2:

But does that mean we all have issues that we can't seem to get over??? LOL

I have one spot in our whole house that I get freaked out by which is our bedroom door but why I don;t know b/c that spot was part of the closet..we remodeled the kitchen and our bedroom and moved the door to our room and moved the closet ...I open the door and make a mad dash to the bed :confused3....

If a magazine has a picture of someone's face on it, at night I have to keep it turned over so "they" can't look at me.
This is why I hate magazines in the bathroom. I can't have them looking at me while I do my business!:rotfl2:

I don't like going in the detached garage at night and that's where my roommate has the washer and dryer.

Me too!!!! Ever since I saw an episode of "Gilligan's Island" as a kid where Gilligan slept with a scarf on so the vampire bat would not bite him. Still to this day must have my neck and arms completely covered by the blankets before I can go to sleep.:rotfl:

I guess we think that vampires can't pull the covers down?

"It" lives in sewer grates *shiver* "We all float down here, Georgie"
:scared1:

OMG, we have those kind of sewer grates here! My kids were 5 and 7, and I swore that they would run over and jump into them. Now I fear that my leashed dogs will jump into them! Tim Curry was wonderful as that scary clown, wasn't he?

BTW, I hate/am afraid of clowns, too.:guilty:

I am afraid of the dark. I sleep with a night light every night or closet light on...I'm almost 32 years old...sooo pathetic.

I am especially afraid to be outside at night...the reason...I panic thinking a zombie is coming for me. Zombies are my biggest fear!! what if the government really comes up with an expirement for zombies??????

I also check the toilet before using it. One time at a friends house in high school, right before I sat down, I happened to look at the seat and one of those GIANT cockroaches came crawling out....OMG can you imagine if that thing had crawled on my pootie poo...I would have died right there!!
I'm the same way...only I sleep with the actual light on at night. Hurley has to hide his face (and usually his whole body ends up there) under the covers to sleep.

I'm not going to read 6 pages, but this will probably make you hate the toilet even more.

After one of the hurricanes came through Florida. I got up in the morning, went to the bathroom after some one else did. Sat down, did my thing, and just before getting up, I felt something wet hit my butt. I stood up, and there was a bright green frog in the toilet. Scared me half to death.

I'm guessing cause of all the rain, power being out, and so on, the water lines weren't at full pressure and this guy found his way up the drainage system. He also had those sticky pads, so it took like a half hour to catch him because he could stick to the tiles.

That reminded me of a thread I started awhile ago. My DS11 was using the toilet in a downstairs bathroom and he called me in. There was the cutest tree frog stuck on the inside of the bowl. And yes, DS11 had peed on him before noticing him! I reached in and got the little fella and took him outside. I guess he must have hopped into our house unnoticed and found water where he could? I am pretty sure he didn't come up through the toilet since he is not a "water" type frog. I'm glad it was a boy who would notice him, and not me because I probably would have gone and flushed without even seeing the poor thing.

From your description, I would say you had a tree frog, too. :goodvibes:laughing:

Just reading this post made me queasy! I hate frogs! Especially when I have to fish them out of my pool. I can do it, but I'm usually screaming the whole time. The neighbors think I'm an idiot.

I'm afraid of the dark also. I sleep with a nightlight. And if I'm in the bed alone, I CANNOT sleep with my back to the door. Absolutely. Can. Not. But if DH or DD is in the bed with me, I'm OK. I don't sleep with body parts hanging off the bed either.

I'm also afraid of driving over bridges. I have recurrent dreams where I'm driving on a road that becomes like a roller coaster, and you get the top of a hill to find out the road disappears and you fall off.

One of the only things that I am very very fearful of, that is when my daughter leaves in the car weather she or a friend is driving. Tomorrow she and a friend are driving to SeaWorld. I will be anxious now just thinking about it and will be all day tomorrow until they return.

I've had a fear of the same thing!! I think it started when I was a teenager and we actually had a tree frog find its way into our toilet from an outside pipe. I thought that if a frog could do it, so could a snake! Plus, I think there was some story circulating once that someone's pet python escaped in an apartment building through the toilet and was roaming the pipes of the apartment building. Anyway, I've often thought about a snake biting me!

"Normal" is such a relative word, but when I was little I was afraid of elevators. It wasn't necessarily the elevator itself but the automatic doors that would open and close. I was afraid they would close on me!! I know it now, but I guess back then I didn't realize the doors had motion sensors so they could never close on you.

Thanks for telling me I am not alone:goodvibes Have you always lived in East Texas? Maybe it is all the snakes there:confused3 I lives in Uncertain and Marshall as a young child and there were always so many water mocassins, rattle snakes and copper heads everywhere (pretend there is a shilvering in fear smile here!)

I am freaked out by mold, rust, and those mushrooms that spring up outside and get gigantic!!:scared1:

I also hate opening cans with contents under pressure, like biscuits and cinnamon rolls. I have to close my eyes and look away when I do it!:rotfl:

leaping lemurs (sp?) like in that kid show "Zaboomafu" that used to be on, those really, really would make me shriek if they were anywhere near me.

But zaboomafu is so cute. I don't think there's any animal I'm afraid of. Of course there haven't been many scary face to face encounters with one. Although I did get close enough to a wild alligator that he started hissing at me. But gators have never bothered me, I find most people over react to them. Heck I used to go swimming in water ways that were known to have gators in them.

Cute?:scared1: show me a gator anyday ;)
