anyone been afraid of normal things?

Im PETRIFIED of throwing up! I cannot do it nor can i stand being around anyone else doing it. If my kids throw up I run and shiver in pure fear. If i have to throw up I will do anything in my power to make it go away...pace the house, go outside in the cold, pray pray pray all while Im having a huge panic attack. It's an awful fear to live with especially with kids. My oldest DS now 9 has also developed this fear. :guilty: Thank God my husband can deal with the kids for me. :worship:

leaping lemurs (sp?) like in that kid show "Zaboomafu" that used to be on, those really, really would make me shriek if they were anywhere near me.

I actually know what you mean. In HS, my friend had a sugar glider (a little rodent thing that was kind of like a flying squirrel). It would look at you and you knew it was going to leap...onto you. Then it would crawl up your shirt and into the neck hole. Yuck. I hate that thing. It peed on me once, too.

Thanks for telling me I am not alone:goodvibes Have you always lived in East Texas? Maybe it is all the snakes there:confused3 I lives in Uncertain and Marshall as a young child and there were always so many water mocassins, rattle snakes and copper heads everywhere (pretend there is a shilvering in fear smile here!)

I'm actually in East Tennessee. Snakes aren't bad here - I've only seen two in the 11+ years I've lived here. I grew up in North Alabama - that was where a lot of venomous snakes are! Copperheads, rattlesnakes, moccasins. Gives me the willies just remembering some of the snakes my dad killed in our yard!

I can't light a match or use a regular lighter. The fire really scares me. Thankfully, those long stick lighters were invented so now I can finally light my scented candles on my own. I also am afraid to light a grill. I feel like the flames are going to jump really high and burn me.

I am phobic of people or myself vomiting-to a point where it impacts my daily life. It makes me sad to deal with this, but baby steps have brought me a long way-having dogs helps to-they are always barfing and I force myself to clean it up-now it doesn't bother me at all. I used to not even be able to watch tv or movies without someone "screening" them, now I watch without fear. :goodvibes Maybe I will be able to finally get up the guts to have a baby soon-so far the fear is winning out on that one becuase I know throwing up will more than likely be involved in the pregnancy...

I'm also pretty scared of fire.

I sent you a PM!

This thread makes me so thankful my parents never let me watch scary movies as a kid. Even now I won't watch scary movies. I know I would scare myself silly.

ETA: I am really scared of snakes, but I think that is a pretty common fear. And bats. I really don't like bats. *shiver*

I'm afraid of birds. Little birdies in the yard aren't bad...except today they were having a birdy war and one smacked into the window. I made dd check the mail when she got home from school. The kids always want to go to a local pet shop that has huge parrots :scared1::scared1: and then mock me when I won't go in the "bird room" .... great kids. The worst is the exotic animal farm that has emus and ostriches. The kids have gone on field trips there and I always have the moral dilemna.....stay home and be safe from the evil yellow eyed, velociraptor looking demon bird or send my child to face them alone??? It's been a close call.

I'm also like that. I have no problem with "baby puke" but anything other than that I can't handle. I constantly am on guard at amusement parks, and when in line at a spinny ride I check out the people who will be sitting next to me, and even go as far to ask if they has been on this type of ride before. I usually pre-screen movies so I know they are vomit safe. Weirdly I can remember everytime in school when someone threw up in the classroom. Names, dates, and what we were doing. Sigh lol

Oh and a word of warning, don't ever watch Tosh 2.0. They show someone throwing up in every episode. I leave when my husband puts it on.

I am 21 years old and i still get shaky and nervous when getting on an elevator...ugh i hate them

Stuffed animal heads. When I go to western restaurants I have to look around so I don't walk under them or get seated near them.

:lmao: I am glad I am not the only one freaked out by the toliet:rolleyes1 I always imagine a snake comming up to bite me. No idea where I got that from. It is absolutely nutty I know but I have to will myself to not freak out when I go.

When I was camping as a little girl scout I once went to the bathroom in our cabin and when I was done noticed a huge web across the toilet with a HUGE spider right where my behind had been!:scared1:

My fear of elevators was partially caused BY ToT! I was riding with a friend and we got stuck right after the first room and it went pitch for several minutes. They did no announcements about when it would move again and I was terrified! Have not been on since and I refuse to ride elevators alone. If I'm with a bunch of people I'm okay, but I always locate the nearest stairs at hotels. When I used to work hotels, several guests would ask for stairs because they had the same fear. The hotel was notorious for having elevators get stuck between floors so it was a tangible fear!

I'm also afraid of touching powders- flour, powdered sugar, cinnamon- gross! The texture absolutely freaks me out :sad2:

Also biscuit cans. Not sure what that one is about. My DH has to open them for me. What's really strange is my brother has the same fear. We decided our mom must have beat us with biscuit cans when we were kids and we have repressed the memory. :rotfl2:

I don't know what it is about cans of biscuit dough, but they scare the holy hell out of me. I usually peel the label about an inch and then stand back and hurl the can against the counter's backsplash, cringing and with my eyes closed. God help me if it doesn't blow on the first try. :scared1:

:) DH hates anything with a scratchy terracotta feel to it. He threatened to divorde me if I ever made cookies again on one of those baking stones...no emory boards..he can hear those a mile away. He doesn't like spiders either. My thing is roaches and I get there from my Mom who is even more terrified of them from having a guy dump one down her shirt one time. SHe had on a peasant blouse and couldn't get it out.

I will not open my eyes in the HM in the attic..That Bride scares the crap out of me. Yes I opened them to see the new changes to HM a couple of years ago...but only once...we ride it many times...but the eyes stay shut...even if the doom buggy gets stuck in the attic. I love watching Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi but will never ever and never ever have been in a cemetary after dark or a house reported to be haunted. I do not watch scary movies.

I will not eat meatloaf. :confused3

Just look at my tag from the tag fairy. I know it is crazy but I will not touch or peel a potato that has them. My DH and boys think it is hilarious and will bring them to me to watch me freak out. My other phobia is spiders.

Cute?:scared1: show me a gator anyday ;)

This is the guy who lives in the lake that's right behind the house my parents just bought in Windermere. :)
