Anybody Looked At Mousesavers This Morning

That just doesn't seem like much--not worth all the "pins and needles" we have all been on waiting for this?

I don't have a trip planned and this isn't enough to cause me to decide to plan one. Especially with the current cost of gas.

It would seem that if Disney is trying to entice people like me (I am their marketing family--2A, 1J,1C) to plan a trip we might not otherwise there needs to be more to it.

$135 off just doesn't seem like much incentive?

Am I missing something? It this a GREAT deal and I am just missing it? :confused3

I think I've done better with my AAA discount.... saved $208 off our room for 7 nights. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up!

well, as I see it, the pins and needles generated by everyone are self generated; granted, Mary posted the teaser, but there were no details, so being disappointed in a discount, before it's released doesn't make sense. I understand we all want a great deal, but ANY deal is better than no deal.

Keep in mind that the $135 off is for a value resort for the family with a specific make up and for 4-nights. If you are staying for 7, you will probably save more than $135. If you are staying moderate or deluxe you will probably save more than $135. We have no idea how family size will impact the price. They haven't said that it is a % off the total or some formula that calculates price taking some off the room and some off tickets.

Is it the best deal ever? No. But savings is savings, right? Every little bit helps. $135 buys a lot of mickey bars. ;)

keep in mind too that we fully expect they will allow you to add dining or park hopping or anything else on top of this, just at it's regular, non-discounted price.

that the pins and needles are self generated, but I don't remember there being "teasers" posted days in advance--especially, if as Mary said, it was suggested by an official at Disney for her to post it. Most discounts just come out and there isn't much hype until it hits (or maybe the day before). I think we all kind of assumed that since there was some build up and secrecy (did I spell that right?), that this would be BIG--along the lines of free dining or buy some days, get some days free etc...

I do see that $999 is a better deal for regular or holiday season, assuming they keep that as the low rate during those times. I am a pessimist and assume that "starting at $999" means than rate will be for the Value Season days and the price will be higher if you are doing Regular or Holiday. But maybe that is what makes it a big deal--$999 for the week before Christmas is a good deal.

Don't suppose that since this coincides with them pulling the Meal Vouchers there is any chance they would throw those into the package? Instead of Free Dining Plan, add a certain number of Vouchers? That might make it worth it!

This is my thinking too. We bought 2 packages one at a deluxe and one at a value so that we could have the dining and if this deal can save any at either resort then I am happy. Yes free or discounted dining would of been cool but if i can save 135.00 and a little more at AKL then i will definitly take advantage of it.

with these types of discounted packages? For instance, if the package is for 4 nights and a 5 day pass, can I modify it to only get a 3 or 4 day pass? Or does that negate the ability to have a "discounted" package?

Or does that just depend on what they do with the "pricing formula" as everyone has bee discussing?

I'm curious what kind of package did you do at each resort. It would cost less to stay at 1 resort or if you split it, do a room only reservation at AKL. You might be able to get a AAA discount at AKL too.

It sounds like this is great if you already have a trip planned and are waiting/hoping to save a little more. (been there, done that!)

I just think it isn't enough to cause most to run to phone and book a trip JUST BECAUSE of this discount. Which, I would assume, is Disney's hope! But, as I said, since the discount is potentially greater depending on the season or resort category I may be wrong.

I am a Value Resort gal--just give me a place to store my clothes, take a shower, and sleep. I spend every minute I can in the parks so that is why this just isn't enough for me.

Really interested to see how this turns out!

I have prepurchased my MYW tickets(7 night park hoppers) and have a 7 night AAA room only reservation(approx11.5% off); assuming the discount is worth it to cancel my AAA res., would CRO apply my tickets purchased prior to a newly purchased(and hopefully discounted) package? Thanks

Really, I'm not going to be that surprised if it isn't "much" of a discount. From what others are saying on these boards, December is already MUCH fuller than previous years? :confused3

I hope not :(

I'd rather pay full price and have the crowd levels I've been hearing people rave about...... :guilty:

We bought the 2 packages because we wanted to have the dining for our whole trip. at asmo we have 4nights/3day base ticket and at akl we have 3 nights/1 day base ticket. we were told we had to do it that way in order to keep the dining, which is making the whole trip about 200.00 more then doing room only but for us it is worth it. In the future I hope that they change this to make it for the lengh of stay on site so that people aren't penalized for doing a split stay.

I figured this is what you did & I agree Disney should find a way to make it work out when splitting stays.

That is Pop Warner week. They stay in the value resorts and some mods. This causes others (myself included) to stay in a deluxe.

It may not seem like much of a deal to many of us since we all know the ins and outs of every Disney pricing possibility, but to the average Disney visitor, it may seem like a good deal.

To put that in perspective... Everyone that wants to go to Disney (Disney addict or not), knows that a trip to Disney is not cheap. They see the $1500 ads and this is still a substantial amount of money to some people... (Me too!)

NOW..... Disney throws a new deal into the mix that includes dates very close to the major holidays cokming up and a person can take her / his family to Walt Disney World for ALMOST a week (in their mind) for a GRAND. Actually a dollar less than a grand. I think it's pretty ingenius myself even though the discount won't save me that much. The average visitor, however, may believe it's the deal of a lifetime.

That being said.... I GUARANTEE if everyone that has already booked a room at rack (waiting for a discount) chose to NOT book their room already and Disney was sitting at a 10 or 20% occupancy expectation for the next three months, Disney would have one HECK of a deal starting Thursday that would be a blockbuster. (It probably would have started a long time ago!) This is a whole different subject, but I will never understand why people book a room months and months in advance and then complain because there are no discounts or very small ones. It's because 80% or more of the rooms are ALREADY BOOKED. :rotfl2:

Doesn't take a genius.... Supply and demand. Are people really that worried that they are NOT going to get a room at Disney if they don't book at rack rate months in advance? Other than three or four major holiday weeks a year, we could find availability within 4 weeks of arrival in almost every resort in many of the room type categories (WL standard rooms excluded).

Think about the 7/4 deal in 2003.... Attendance was still low after 9/11 and the economy was not doing too well.

Then in 2004, the deal went to a 7/5 because attendance was projected higher than 2004 and the economy was continuing to do better.

2005 has arrived and the only significant deal for the year was the free Dining plan to offset the low atttendance expectation during prime hurricane season.

Disney is no dummy. WE are because we all book our rooms so early. ;)

OK. I'm getting off my soapbox now.

Anyway... The discount will be smaller than in years past. I'll take what they offer and will be happy with it. Like lollipop mom said, $135 will buy a lot of mickey bars! :cool1:

I'm not willing to change my dates from 12/18-12/25 to recieve a $135 discount. But, I'm not upset that I don't qualify for a discount. Didn't make my plans originally thinking I would. It would have just been an extra Christmas Present.

I am thinking about maybe using the discount money to extend our tickets to 10 day non-expiring, then I would have a chunk done off my next trip with the saved money. Hopefully it would be $150 or more off 7 days! I will take any thing off I can get!

Well I for one am pleased with the teaser and all the hype, even if it's not gonna work for me. I'm more excited about my trip now more than ever! :cool1: Thanks so much, Mary!
