Over the weekend we found these two on our back deck... no idea what they are though. Anybody have a guess?

They were pretty good sized, but able to run very fast when we went out there.

Oh my gosh...I couldn't believe what I saw...never seen anything like it.
A bird that swallowed a softball maybe? Not a clue. :confused3

I may be wrong, but I believe those are quail. Very cute!

I thought quail also, but when I showed the pic to someone who has hunted them he said they weren't. :confused3 I just don't have a clue, there were 4 of them, 2 in the yard and the 2 in the picture.

Do you have a big bus and singing kids??

Yah...I think it is a partridge...

Funny, I've never seen a real one!

Come one get HAPPY!!

my dh votes for a partridge. Better get thee a pear tree.

I think it is a Chukar, which is a European Partridge. Some people raise them to hunt and they tend to get away.

I think you are right. It looks like a Chukar Partridge:

Thank you for the answers! Wonder what they were doing in our back yard, they must have been very lost. I don't think a pear tree will do well with the snow in the back yard, but I do have a bowl full sitting on the counter :teeth: That must have been what attracted them ;)
