Anybody had Septoplasty and/or Turbinate Surgery?

Thanks so much everyone for sharing your helpful information and experiences. I really feel so much better now that all of you have posted your info. I was so scared before, but now I'm fine with it. I do know that I am so glad that I won't be having packing after everything y'all have said. LOL

My DH has had this surgery a while back and now needs another. It wasn't too bad, just uncomfortable for a while.

I just wanted to add that for Father's Day I got him a Neti Pot based on a thread here I saw on the Dis. He likes it and says it's helped him breathe better, is keeping his sinuses unplugged. I bought it at Whole Foods for $20 and a jar of salts for $15. FYI. It's the first thing that's actually helped him in a long time.

Thank you so much for posting this info. I will definitely check into the Neti Pot. My DM has horrible sinus issues also so I might get her one as well.

I had septoplasty decades ago so that is pretty irrelevant in today's world.

I had turbinate surgery in 1999 by this fabulous world famous Harvard/Stanford research surgeon. I'll never forget this huge group of doctors/researchers from Asia standing around me while my doctor pointed out what "huge" turbinates I had.

Evidently large turbinates (whatever they are) are more common in Asians. None of them could believe that I (non-Asian) had such big turbinates.

The surgery was a piece of cake - outpatient and I didn't even go to bed when I got home. I didn't take any pain meds either. I've only had one cold and no sinus infections since I had the surgery 8 years ago.
