We went last year, but later in December and it was busy...today it was so CROWDED! :scared1:

I planned on going today, however something came up and I couldn't make it. Hopefully I'll be able to next week. By the way, did they give out anything for showing up???

My hubby (AZDisneyDan) and I were there-we got there at about 3.30 and waited in a 10 minute line just to get in  but then we quickly got our yummy Santa white chocolate covered rice krispy treats and our yummy apple cider! The Fab 5 were all there and there was a DJ and all the kids were dancing. (with Pluto and Santa Goofy)

There was a pin trading area, a Merry Mixer pin exclusive (long 30 minute line for that!!) and then they had some creative Xmas arts and crafts-make your own snowflakes etc...

We stayed about an hour, this was the first DVC event we'd ever been to (we're new members)...we had a good time and we put our names in for the Holiday prize-a lovely gift basket filled with lots of goodies (I don't think we won because there was nothing waiting for us in our room when we got back!!!) :rotfl:

We had a great time and then headed to Epcot to ride Spaceship Earth! :cool1:

They gave out a DVC ornament on the way out-one per family.

How much were the pins that they were selling??

We are going to try and go to our first mixer next Friday. I know it's over by the boardwalk, right? But where exactly?

Right outside the gate to enter EPCOT on that World Showcase side. Was fun...but oh so crowded. My kids would have had a fit if I waited for in line for the pin.

We too went to the Mixer yesterday ...honestly we were shocked about having to wait in a long line just to get inside. We have NEVER waited in a line just to get inside, this was the first in many years of going that this happened! Don't get me wrong my kids had fun making crafts and dancing with Pluto and the elfs but it was different this year ...not much cider/water available by 415pm, my kids ended up with a cup of ice to cool them down. And the rice crispie treats were cute but not one of our favorites, we would have rather had the cookies like the previous years! We had a great time, we are not reallythere for the treats and drinks, but just wanted topoint it out! My husband was talking to a cast member and they they said they planned to have 1,000 DVC people show up for the first day of events and over 1,400 showed up instead! So like I said it was alot of fun, and I guess they were not prepared for such a large crowd ... I am quite sure next week will be much more prepared!

And only one ornament per family, instead of one per person like in years past! Guess even Disney is having cutbacks!

Thank you for reporting on the Mixer. We flew home on Friday at 3:00 and weren't able to attend. I was disappointed, but now don't feel like I missed too much.

We went too. It was RIDICULOUS. Crowded. We stayed about 15 minutes.

It's time to either get them to a larger venue and better organized or cancel them all together. I was NOT impressed.

I think it's time for a Merry-Mixer day and not just a couple of hours.

Do they still do the Wednesday thing at BWV in addition to the Merry Mixer?

I was there too! I think that my first hour was spent in 3 main lines: pin purchases, pin trading (shortest - got the pin that I have been looking for :woohoo: ) and the character photos. I did wander around looking for LGMH but the only DISer's that I saw were Jamstew and RedBudLover who I had meet the day before.

I was there!!! I bought on Thursday and went on Friday and boy was it ever crowded!! It seemed like all I did was stand in line (hey, it is WDW so we should be conditioned by now:rotfl: )

Stood in line to get in, stood in a really slow moving line for the member pins (they were selling 5 different ones), stood in line for Minnie/Mickey and they got replaced by Donald/Daisy (which was okay only because I don't get much of a chance to get my photo with Daisy)

All in all, I did enjoy myself, but I agree that the venue was too small.

Congratulations and Welcome Home!:dance3:

We were there and the lines were long! We waited to get in and then went immediately to the line to buy the pin. DD was in Epcot with her friend and we were there primarily to get the exclusive pin for her. We waited about 30 minutes - the pin is a spinner with the DVC logo on one side of the spinning part and Mickey (I think) on the other side. The outside of the spinner is a snowflake with Mickey heads. The ornament is similar to the pin. They were requesting one per family for the ornament.

We did get in line to get our rice krispie treat (you got a ticket to exchange for the treat). And we entered the drawing. But by then we had to leave to meet the kids.

It was worth going to get DD's pin but I wish we had been able to stay longer. But it was our departure day and we had to get back to Saratoga to catch the bus to the airport.

Wow, now I'm not at all sad that we didn't get there. We let the niece and nephew decide what they wanted to do and we spent more time at Hollywood Studio and DTD instead of taking time to go to the party.

I'm not a fan of frosted rice krispie treats at all and I don't care about any pins that might have been there. I think we made the right decision in skipping it.
