We went in December 2000 for our honeymoon and had to buy gloves, scarves, hats and extra sweatshirts because it was so cold! It was so weird to see every store in the parks with giant cardboard boxes in their doorways filled with gloves etc. It really was that cold, of course the day we left we were in shorts!
Don't miss the Osborne Light Show, it was pretty cool!
Crowds are great! The longest we waited was 10 minutes, and that was rare.
If you can get the wedding ears, do it, you'll get a lot of perks!
Congratulations and have a wonderful time! :wizard:

we were there the first week in Dec.2000, it ended up being rainy and cold, coming from the midwest we wore jeans on the plane and ended up in those 3-4 days, had 1 good sunny day-that trip we did alot of shopping-guess that's what ya get for bragging to people your going to FL in Dec. to leave the cold behind-lol- :rotfl2: :confused3 :rotfl2: They were saying on the news it was the most rain they'd had in along time in Dec.hopefully you'll have better weather-just plan on taking a little of each and you should be fine. enjoy all the beautiful decorations :wizard:

Buy gloves, hats and scarves at home to bring with you. If you have kids bring 2 pair of gloves.
At WDW the hats and gloves they sold in Dec 04 cost $8 each. They were plain black stretch gloves and hats just like the ones you can get at the Dollar Store for $1.

We brought our own gloves, but DS lost his on the first day there. I'm sure someone really loved those gloves. We had to fork over $8 for a plain black pair. It was cold when we went.

I have a vested interest in this thread aswell since I will there Dec. 3rd-10th at CS. Any other tips people?? Was anyone there last Dec. by any chance?

That's what happened to us that year, we were there from the 17th-23rd on our honeymoon. It rained a lot for us too and they said it was record low temps that year when we were there. Not surprising we don't have good luck with weather and vacations! :confused3 We only took a few pair of jeans and a bunch of shorts. We had to rewear pants many times until we bought some more. We are planning a trip for next year, possibly May, June or July but now we are thinking Dec again! I hope it's not as cold but this time I will be prepared! :rotfl2: :earboy2:

Why miss MVMCP? If we go back in Dec I was going to try to get tix, but is it not worth it?

Just wondering if your experiences with cold weather were a fluke? It's our 1st time in December too, and we're trying to pack light since we have a cruise also and will need warm-weather clothing for that. We were down in Feb. & most days were in low 80's & high 70's, did have 1 day in low 60's though. The average temperature charts I've been looking at indicate that December historically has slightly higher temps that Feb. Now I'm even more confused as what to expect weather-wise.

When you say you needed multiple sweatshirts, hats & gloves, how cold was it & did you need them all day or just in the early a.m. & evening? We're from the Pittsburgh area, used to cold weather, but wouldn't think of wearing cold weather garb until it dipped well below 60. Thanks.

take your coat we had ours from the drive down(left icy weather in NC), and coudl not have made it W/O. Take rain gear it rain 6 inches in 2 days. Tour all the resorts they are so pretty at Christmas. It was cold most of the time take sweatshirts. and pants. :flower:

I can't remember the exact temps but it was colder in the early am and at night. On the days when it rained and the sun was not out, it was pretty cold too. Even my DH who wears t-shirts all winter long was wearing his coat. I know it's cold when he is wearing his coat! Hopefully it was just a fluke but be prepared just in case. I would just bring a warm coat and like the other poster said, those small , thin gloves (I still have my WDW ones), also bring a scarf and a few pairs of pants that you won't mind having to rewear if it is that cold. I wouldn't overpack winter clothes if your going on a cruise too but a least have some things cause it really stinks when you trying to enjoy yourself but your freezing. The other thing I would do is every morning I would go and fill my refillable mug with coffee and then when we got to the park if I was still cold I would get some hot chocolate. It helped a lot. Hope that helps! :wave2:

I've been to WDW one time in early December and twice in late December. The weather was all over the place! One trip was shorts during the day and jeans and a light jacket or sweatshirt in the evening and the others had combo great days/cool evenings and a COLD snap requiring serious gloves, mittens, scarves and jackets especially at night.

For packing for our trip this year in early December, I am working on layering as a solution. Tops especially that can be worn alone or with other pieces for warmth. I HATE overpacking but I hate being unprepared and miserable, too. We're driving this year (a leisurely drive thru the South, anyone?) so luckily space isn't a real consideration with the SUV.

I hope this helps a little.

This may sound petty, but any idea how the Pop Warner superbowl will affect crowds the first week of Dec??

To give you the other side of the coin, the last time we went in December it was beautiful weather. My husband wore shorts day and night. I would change into jeans and maybe a sweatshirt at night (I get cold due to the humid dampness in FL). But... we swam every night after coming back from the parks (the pools are heated).

We are going again this December and I'm just planning to bring a little bit of everything (cold and warm weather clothing) to be prepared.

Just my 2 cents..but I would much rather tour a park with overcast, or on a cooler day than on a hot one. My family is always in such a better mood when we aren't sweating to death! lol

I don't know about the pop warner crowds..but I am interested too now, we are gonig Dec. 2 -8.

I have a tip; look for me! My family will be there too from Dec 14-23rd at the Polynesian. I found some stich and princess hats and gloves on www.disneydeals.com that I will bring for the kids.
