Hi
We did this TS presentation in December 2001. We made it clear right from the beginning that we would not be buying a TS. It helped knowing that the value of our $$ was at an all time low. We were not pressured at all by the sales rep for The Palms. At the end of the presentation, tempus resort staff stepped in along with a manager to try to convince us to buy. It was no big deal and not overly pressured. You just need to be honest and stick to your guns with the "NO". You will see other families there buying the TS, but that did not make us waver in the least. In fact, it had the opposite affect on me. People cheering and being congratulated in front of a whole room of perspective TS buyers, just proved to me the tactics that are used to make you buy a TS. I am not sure about other people but my husband and I would never purchase something of that much value without being able to go home and discuss it first and do some research. Anyway, The Palms is a beautiful facility, it was very interesting doing this timeshare. (my first one) The presentation took under 2 hours and you got either lunch or breakfast depending on what time you went.
Cost $239.00 US
5 nights accomodations in Orlando ( we traded our Daytona 2 night stay for and additional night in Orlando). We chose the Comfort Suites on Turkey Lake Road. The pool was awesome very very warm but the rooms where in need of repairs.
2 tickets to Pleasure Island (which we didn't find time to use)
$20.00 certificate for Planet Hollywood plus VIP status (had a great meal...VIP got us in without waiting)
A coupon book with savings (no big deal)
All in all I believe it was a decent deal, but would chose to do a TS next time where you could stay right on the premises. We moved after our 5 nights at the Comfort Suites to LBV Summerfield Suites for 6 nights and had an awesome time. Good Luck
