YIKES I had know idea it was so expensive. Honeymoon ok Wedding NO!

Here's the deal about Disney Weddings:

Yes, they are expensive. But I've got to tell you, if I had the money to spend on such a frivilous thing, I'd be well tempted to do it.

We stayed at the GF last time and, as my friend is getting married soon, we trekked it down to the Wedding Pavilion since it was just next door.

Now, I'm not one of these weepy women that gets emotional over chick flicks and that sort of thing (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I'm more a Superman-lovin', Star Wars watchin', V for Vendetta wantin' to be kinda girl.

But when we walked through those doors of that wedding chapel at the Pavilion and saw immediately the castle framed through the window of the alter, everyone who was with us instantly teared up. I've been to many weddings and hated every last one of them. Never once cried. Rolled my eyes a few times, but never cried. This however is what a wedding - if you're going to go to the expense of one and not just jet off somewhere and get it done quick and painless - should be.

And there may not be a nicer woman on Property than Gayle at Franc's. She's just amazing.

Even if you're not planning on doing a WDW wedding, make a visit to the WP. They don't care if you're not getting married. They're so proud of what they have to offer that they just love showing it off. And with good reason. After all, there's a reason why it's always featured on those wedding and travel shows. :thumbsup2

I saw a DIS wedding on TV that cost over 300K...OMG....I'd settle for a beach wedding then on to WDW though I doubt I'll go that way again....Vegas oh not just no but He77 NO!!!...But didn't ya know Elvis lives in a small town in Bama...I saw him at a Hospital where I worked for a short contract...hahahahaha :rotfl2:  pirate: :joker: :bounce:

I still think Disney could do a much better job promoting the Romance of the World!

When I see a TV show that has a Disney wedding I always think that's exactly what I want ... but then I think about the amount of money it would cost, and the practical side of me steps in and says what a waste for a few hours time. I would much rather get married informally and have a blow-out vacation at WDW!!

Speaking of WDW weddings....the Fairy Tale Wedding Show on the Food Network is on Friday Sept 22 at 10 pm

I would love to be a Disney Princess just for one day...and ride in the coach to meet my prince :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Don't get me wrong ... if someone were to offer to pay for it, I would definitely want the best Disney wedding ever - including the horse-drawn carriage, whole family there, etc. Of course, don't think that one is going to happening. Can't see my BF or his family, or even my family for that matter, offering to pay that much money for a wedding.

My mother knows that I would love to get married at Disney but she says (if we decide to get married) that we can't because they can't all make it there. *sigh* Well at least I can honeymoon at WDW.

I, too, have done a big wedding. I would rather do a small wedding at the Poly beach with the Castle in the background. :thumbsup2

I've never been married, so haven't done a big or small wedding. I guess the thrifty part of me can't imagine spending so much money for one day, no matter where it is - Disney or elsewhere. I would much rather have that money for more practical things.

Has anyone on the Dis Boards ever had a crush on someone that they have only talked to over this board? I get the feeling that some of the dissers do have secret crushes :rolleyes1 ...which is great. Just something to think about

That's it....just have to agree.

Maybe we need to do some research on what limitations DW might place on couples who want to say their vows in the World without paying for the Disney support? I've seen people getting married on the greens of the Palm and Magnolia golf courses at sunset with the castle in the background and at the Port Orleans Riverside in lots of settings.

just a thought...

Bill

I am sure that there are some people who do develop "crushes" on other posters, when you talk and interact on a daily basis they way that we do. Its almsot expected (in my opinion) :)

Its my understanding that at least one couple met on boards...and if you go to Dismates there are some of us there too. Its nice to know that if the "crush" is returned that it can become more. It gives this single girl hope :) :) :)

As to the wedding posts.....I have gone through weddings with friends, and never understood why they put them themselves through the stress and aggrivation on a big expensive wedding. I would much rather a small intimate wedding with close friends and family..somewhere outside (preferably Disney)

it's possible

Sometimes things happen when you least expect it. Didn't meet my BF on this board, but he loves Disney. YEAH!!! Already planning next summer's vacation. :woohoo:

Sometimes that's the best thing... :) :) Yeah on finding someone who loves disney :) :) have fun planning your summer vacation :goodvibes ...and be sure to take some notes on the romantic suggestions that other posters listed a few pages back. :thumbsup2

I'm definitely going to remember all the romantic suggestions. His kids (9 year old DD and 12 year old DS) will be along, but could always get a sitter for one night if needed. Maybe by then a Disney wedding will be in order (albeit on a much smaller scale).

Well...not on a board....but it's someone I've been chatting with in the UK for over 5 years. I'm 99% sure nothing will come of it, as the two of us have decided that we may be too broken over past relationships to ever be fixed. (I don't even think duct tape and super glue would help). But I'm lucky to count him as a friend, and that's ok. :)

I know what you mean..I have numerous "friends" but I think I am also pretty much beyond repair. I wish I could find someone to pull me out of the rut I am in. And who knows..maybe our "prince" is just around the corner. I'm just to insecure to peep around that corner.

sitter, bag carrier, map holder, chicken exit finder...that's me...gotta find someone like me to go with you, so you and your sweetie  can have a romantic evening.

Never having dated anyone with kids, not sure how that would work on a vacation, but I would be willing to try. (dating and/or vacation) :)
