Does anyone know if any of the car rental places let you pick your car ?? my DH thinks we were able to reserve a specific car years ago... I don't remember it being that way... ????
National's "Emerald Aisle" program lets you pick your car from the available cars on the lot (but not reserve a specific car). You can join for free using a site found at mousesavers.com (otherwise it is $50 to join).
National lets everyone pick their own car, not just Emerald Club. If you use counter service, they will mark your paperwork with the size car you reserved and you go to the garage and pick from that row. They mark the car you took at the booth on the way out. I think since Alamo shares with National, they do the same thing.
Yes, Alamo let me choose the car from the group available. There were at least three models. My big concern was the size of the trunk, and there was no one around to advise me....so I took the keys from each one, and opened the trunk. (Yea - they were all about the same, but at least I satisfied my curiosity and concern.) After I figured which model, then I choose the color. It was kind of fun.
and my big concern was smell! i have allergies and certain smells (tobacco, perfume) set it off so being able to poke my head in to each vehicle before we selected one made for a more comfortable ride!
