Hmmmm....pineapple. I will have to try that one!

OK, so today, I broke down and bought a basal thermometer. I said I wasn't going to get into all of that, but I am curious, and, why not? I work from home so I don't have to be up at any certain time, so I think it should be easy.
I have a few questions about it though.

Today I am on CD10. Should I start temping tomorrow?

I could only find a digital basal thermometer. The glass ones didn't say basal any place on them, but this one did. Is that OK?

What time do you all temp? I normally wake up around 7, but it just depends, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. I don't mind setting an alarm. :listen:

Where do I get the charts from? I am CLUELESS! But excited to try this. :goodvibes

Oh, and I figured out why I am losing a lot of hair!!! I read that if you had a m/c, within about 2-3 months, you may start losing your hair, just like if you had a baby. At least I know why now.

I've only seen the digital thermometers, and that is what I used. It is fine.

It doesn't matter what time you temp, but it should be as close to the same time every day as possible. You should do it right when you wake up, before you run to the bathroom and before you have anything to eat or drink, while you are still in bed.

I second the free charting at www.fertilityfriend.com. It will give you a great chart and you can see exactly what day you ovulate. You can also enter other info/fertility signs in there.

Nicole, I'm so sorry! Just reading your post made me angry, and I'm not even going through it!

Never heard about pineapple. Guess I'll have to add that to the shopping list! :)

I think AF for me will be around November 9th. I'm hoping to have a pregnancy to be thankful for at Thanksgiving! Not sure how I'll deal with being around my two very pregnant cousins at Thanksgiving if not. :(

Guess I should get off the computer now. We're still on the every-other-day BD schedule. Althought I *may* have noticed some EWCM earlier today, so maybe we have to BD every day for the next few days. I think I should O later this week.

Didn't get a chance to do my temp this morning. DS woke us up at 5:30am because he had to potty. Sometimes I wonder if diapers weren't better. ;)

Ok....I am soooo confused?!

I logged on this morning to input my temp into Fertility Friend, and after I put my temp in - a screen popped up that said "considering this new data, we have moved your ovulation day from CD 15 to CD 18". Ahhhhhhh!! We stopped bd'ing on CD 16!! Now, my temps have been consistently around 97.9/98.0 since CD 16 with one low dip to 97.4 on CD 18 (I was hoping it was an implantation dip! ;) )

Fertility Friend is no longer my friend.... :lmao:

That happened to me one month, only it went backward. It changed O date from the 24th day back to the 21st day. I tell you, all this could just drive me batty if I let it, but I'm trying to just relax and not get stressed out...

Michelle - I hope you are feeling better soon, and that you have lots of fun partying it up for Halloween. I hope that let you do the IUI in November and that it is successful - because you two are going to have some pretty babies. You are a great looking couple :cheer2:

I had my regular OB appointment today. Nothing major (which is a good thing, I suppose.) I still have a ton of nausea although it is much less frequent. My next appointment is in 4 weeks, and will be my 20-week ultrasound and we definitely want to find out the gender.

Okay, maybe I am dense - but I have to ask y'all - WHAT is the brown bikini??

Laurel
Thanks Laurel. hope the nasusea gets better! can't wait to hear what you are having! :thumbsup2

DMickey- what a scare, i am glad all is okay. hope you had a great trip to the mouse!

Emily- welcome and good luck! the only thing i remember when getting off BC was that my PMS/pain came back w/ a venegance, as did the irregularity.

Nicole- insurance, well just sucks! sorry to hear about it all. at least in January you can start fresh, and covered.

unfortunately, we are changing insurance at corporate in january. currently, IUIs are covered (cigna), but not IVF (don't get that reasoning, other than $$). but as of January 1st, i'll be with united- who doesn't cover IUIs, much less IVF. so i'll be paying out of pocket for everything. I am trying to get in at least 2 IUIs before the end of the year, maybe 3, depending on timing.

Also- my current ins covers 100% of maternity/delivery. new insurance only covers 90%. sucks! why did they have to go and change insurance on me? Oh yeah, to save them a few bucks.

i don't look forward to the next step of having to consider an IVF. has anyone done one and paid out of pocket? what was the average cost? i would jump at it if it was covered, since i've had two failed IUIs now and the lap. after 2 or 3 more IUIs, i will have to seriously consider IVF. My parents said they would ask my grandpa for inheritance money (that they would be getting anyways) to cover the cost, but i hate taking money from others and DH hates it even more than me. i guess we'll cross that bridge...when...

well ladies, good luck and wishing lots of BFPs! :grouphug:

i am on CD3- experiencing heavier bleeding than normal with AF and more bright red. i know TMI. usually mine is a darker brownish red. i guess the lap maybe has something to do with it. so i have the lap soreness and pain from friday and the great pain of AF too. and extremely tired still, i hope i get back to 100% by this weekend for all these halloween parties! greatness! :rotfl:

AF came today. :guilty: I guess it's a good thing; I'll be able to enjoy the rides at WDW, but it still sucks. We were going to wait to try until after our trip, but then decided to go ahead and start this month. Maybe we'll have a Disney souvenir though.

Michelle, that sucks about your insurance. My mom had a friend who paid OOP for IVF; I'll ask if she remembers what the cost was.

Zofran will be denied without special approval because use during pregnancy is off-label. It's not approved for use during pregnancy - and it's not even approved for use with a c-section even though the on-label use is for PONV (post-operative nausea and vomiting) and certain types of chemotherapy. It's used so often because it's been shown to be safer in pregnancy than the other drugs (compazine, phenergan). But, it's an off-label use and sets off bells in the insurance company's systems. It baffles me why they don't just get it approved for this use to save everyone the hassle. But, why bother with that expense when doctors are giving it out anyway? They don't care that patients and doctors have to fight for coverage, they're just happy it's being prescribed - even if it's being prescribed for a non-approved use when they could just spend a little money and effort, get it approved, and make it easy on everyone.

That's my little rant against the drug companies for the day. :)

I don't completely agree with this...but I can see how the public would view it as such. I guess working in the Pharma industry gives me more insight into how long it takes a medication to go through clinical trials and the approval process.

Hopefully Michelle you will get pg or get some iui's in before that. Kevin's insurance changed and the old insurance covered ultrasounds and bloodwork and United doesn't but it does cover mammograms every year if you have a high risk BCBS only once from 35-40 no matter what the history Oh by the way U/S and bloodwork tommorrow 225 mg tonight and last night There was one follicle on the left 10.5 and 8 less than 10 and 10 less than 10 on the right

I have United and they don't cover fertility treatments. However I have a $250 deductible and a $15 copay for my first visit, everything else is paid at 100%. We pay out the nose for the coverage through DH's job, small company. He is looking for a new job (already yes,) and I hope we get good coverage...

It did that to me a couple of times too. Bad fertility friend, bad!

DMickey - would you guys be moving again? Or is he looking at jobs where you are now?

Andrea - My goodness, I have no idea. We are locked in to S. Florida until the end of June. We have a lease here and we don't want to give up my maternity leave if we don't have to. He is looking for a job here, but it in his field there are hardly any. There is one company he is interested in that has a position in the SE that possibly if he could start here and then move to a more heavily populated area for his industry, perhaps Atlanta. I don't mind moving, I don't care for S. Florida at all so I am eager to try somewhere else. I really miss IL and the midwest. I think GA or the Carolina's would be a good compromise of DH's love of golf and warmer weather and my love for seasons.

My company has offices everywhere and between the job I did in IL and the job I do here, I can go to many different offices.

Why do you asK? :)

Michelle - that stinks about your insurance, we're switching to United in January, too. I hoping it won't affect me too much being due in February. As far as the coverage thing goes, I was told that each company selects the coverages they want to pay for, not the insurance company. So we actually have the great companies we work for to blame for the crappy coverage. :sad2:

I know my company doesn't cover infertility treatments either, which is really sad considering we have almost 20,000 employees nation-wide, and our parent company has about 12,000 more.

So, I couldn't help myself last night....took an HPT at about 8:00. It was a digital one...and it was a BFN. BUT....when I took the strip out of the reader-thing, there was a very, very, VERY faint second line. :bitelip: Now, I know it could be an evaporation line (which more likely than not, it probably is ;) ), but....it was exciting for a minute!! Tomorrow (Friday) I will be 8 DPO, so I will try again then. :sunny:

I would be more excited, but I really don't have any symptoms. I have been crampy the past few days at certain times and have had some headaches - but no sore bbs, nausea, etc... So...back to packing today. We close tomorrow on our new house, and then will paint all weekend and start moving. So, I have a lot to keep me busy!!

Good luck Kelly!! I never had sore ****s or morning sickness when I was pregnant with DS, so you never know! Hope your move goes well. We moved into our house in May and did the whole painting thing too...never again! LOL!

Hi guys-

I feel like I am soooo paranoid about what I can and can't eat while pregnant. I LOVE cheese, and I feel like I am never sure what kinds I can and can't eat. It's also really hard going out to restaurants because who knows what kinds of cheeses they put in the sauces and salads and stuff. The waiters never seem to know either. Am I just being paranoid?

Also, is Kraft Mac N' Cheese OK too?

How do you guys do it? How do you know what is in foods when you go out and eat and if it's safe? I need a specific list or something!!!

Pokey - I hope Mac and Cheese is ok - I have been eating a lot of it ;) I think you are fine. The only thing I am leary of is lunch meat.

DMickey - I know you had said you had moved so much in the last few years and I know you just moved to Fl this summer. I love to move, but I haven't done cross country like you! Hey, MN has tons of golf courses! They are still open now! Until there is snow on the ground! We moved when DS was 1 month old, and it was interesting. Good luck with whatever happens!!

Kelly - Good luck testing this week. I think digitals are pretty insensitive.

I just went to the bathroom (sorry if tmi) and there was a small "glob" of ewcm. It did stretch a few inches. Usually it is much more that a small glob, but does this mean I should be bd'ing tonight since it was such a small amount, or does the amount not matter?

Thanks in advance!

I would BD tonight. I don't think it matters how much there is, since some people never have it.
