Mainly Senators who vote against mandatory coverage for infertilty. Part of me hopes some precious member of their family finds themselves in the situation of shelling out thousands of dollars for a family.

The thing is- the men (generally) who vote against covering infertility treatments are JUST the people who could afford them if it ever happened- THEY aren't going to go broke trying to have a family.

If Mark and I hadn't been able to conceive, there's no way we'd be able to afford treatments- not right now.

Hey guys...just checking in :wave2:

Carla so sorry about your Dr. that is just so sad.

Well I got a + OPK last night and tonight so we BD'd Friday and last night. Hopefully DH won't be to tired tonight.

I am always confused as to how long we should continue to BD every night because last cycle I had 4 + OPK's in a row...so when did I "O"?????

I also have had problems finding an OB...I can't get in till Feb. They put me on a waiting list for cancellations but who knows...I guess I will just have to get pregnant and then they will have to see me :rotfl:

So my dh isn't the only one that's too tired sometimes??? We missed what I thought was an important day this month b/c he was too tired! :faint: I could've killed him. Couldn't even talk him into a quick few minutes b/c he was snoozing. I never knew you could have more than one dark line for lh surge on the opk. I got one, then stopped using them that month. Who knows anymore. This is month 4 for us trying, I'm in the dreaded tww, due on Nov. 3rd. I'm trying not to obsess over it anymore, it just adds stress. I have a couple of friends who it took a year or so their second time around. We'll just see what happens......

Nope...he is not the only one...but my DH had put in a 14 hour day so I guess it wasn't really his fault. So no BD last night, hopefully we didn't miss the boat and that he will be ok for tonight.

I'm due for AF on Nov. 4th so we can wait together :thumbsup2

fanofdisney & DisneyDreamer8 -- I'm due on the 31st, so looks like we're all waiting...hopefully none of us make it to AF!!

HI Guys...

Carla - What a sad story about the dr.

7beasly - I work for an insurance company, but AUTO. Reading your story and Carla's I have to agree Health Insurance makes NO sense sometimes.

Everyone trying - Good LUCK THIS MONTH.....

I was at Disney this past weekend. It was lots of fun!! It was HOT though. Now it's perfect out, 75, but Sunday at Epcot it was at least 95. Yikes. I had a little scare Sunday AM. I was walking with my father to the food court at Caribbean Beach and got very very dizzy, I couldn't see anything suddenly and felt very hot and sweaty. I sat down in the sand on one of those little beaches and rested for a minuted. It was scary though... I was ok after that. I think my BP might have dipped too low for a minuted. I had just gotten up and started moving around right away, ate a Banana and went out the door into the heat. My BP at my last appointment was good, but a little low, so that's probably what it was. It was 119 (something) over 67... I think something like that, I know the 67 is the right number. I'll mention it to my doctor in a fews weeks but I think it's fine. Baby is still beating away in there! :)

So, still working on charting my first month & my temp went down another tenth this morning to 97.2 - the lowest temp I've gotten this month! So, not sure what that means - maybe an O tomorrow or Thurs? We've BD the last 2 nights, but probably won't be able to tonight...

A question for anyone recently off of BCP - did you notice any changes that first month you went off them? I've been SO Emotional lately - I've cried at least 3 times in the last week & I am not normally much of a crier - maybe normally once a month near/during AF. Not sure if this is from ending BCP after so many years, or if I just have some other issue!! LOL :rotfl:

fanofdisney, disneydreamer8 & mrsexplorer1977 - I don't know my exact AF date, but it should be around 11/3, too!! So, I'll be right here waiting with y'all, too! :thumbsup2

Nicole - sorry for the bad news with the insurance company. It's great news that everything should work out in January, though. It probably seems like an eternity from now, but it'll be here before you know it - October is almost over! :grouphug:

lovinwdw - Welcome!! :) I'm pretty new here, too - this is our first cycle TTC - we also just got back from a wonderful WDW trip where we decided it was time to TTC!! :thumbsup2 I also just purchased TCOYF about 2 weeks ago & feel like I have learned a lot so far! It was a great recommendation. :teeth:

Wow!! I am also due for AF sometime between Nov. 2nd and 5th!! There will be a lot of us testing at the same time, huh!? :thumbsup2 Good luck everyone!! pixiedust: Baby dust for us all (and anyone else who needs it!!) I have been eating pineapple every day for the last few days - I have heard it helps everything "stick". I am willing to try anything!! ;)

DMickey - I am no expert on BP, but I know mine has been much lower, and the doctor always says it is fine. Last time it was 100 over 50, and I know the first # has been in the 90s before and the second in the upper 40s. But that doesn't mean it didn't dip while you were at WDW causing you to feel strangely.

Nicole - sorry about your problems with the insurance company. At least you only have to wait a few more months, though until your treatment will be covered by insurance. Even though someone else said BCBS covered her treatments, my company did not elect that coverage so it would not have been covered for us. Another pg woman at my work had been trying for almost 2 years before they were successful. And one of my other friends here is currently seeing a specialist but knows that nothing will be covered. We are changing carriers to United in 2007, but our coverage will probably stay the same. I feel so bad for her and everyone else that can't get financial help for something that is so expensive. I just don't understand how some things can be covered, but not infertility. :sad2:

kellyf- pineapple, huh? I haven't heard of that before. My sister said the cough syrup helped her. I do remember that the month I tried green tea was the month I conceived my son. If af comes, it's pineapple, cough syrup, and green tea at every meal! :rotfl:

Isn't it strange that there are so many of us on the same cycle? I hope we all have BFP this month!!!! pixiedust: Now let's see how long we can stay away from the hpt!!! lol

Kelly - yes, supposedly pineapple after you ovulate until either AF comes or you get a BFP. So...we will see! The HPT's are calling my name... :listen: I think I will do my first HPT at 8 DPO (which would be Friday). :sunny:

Hi y'all! I think I'm going to be busy hte next few days trying to get ready for our trip. So I don't think I'll be able to check in as much. I am reading a lot though.

All these Halloween plans sound like fun. We'll be going to MNSSHP on the 30th and I'll be dressed as a gypsy. My DH will be a pirate kind of guy

Nicole, I am so very sorry that you have to wait until Jan to do the egg retrieval. That just positively stinks that you were denied! I have no idea what goes on in the brains of insurance companies some times.

Christina, sorry about the faint feeling. I have notoriously low BP and during certain conditions I feel light headed no matter what. Just simply getting up too quickly can cause it for me. Mine is on average about 90/50 to 100-60. Give or take a little. Yours would be considered on the lower side, but not dangerously low. Supposedly anything 90/60 and below is considered really low, but fortunately unless you are prone to fainting it's not a huge deal to have.

I see we have a ton of 2ww right now. I really wish I weren't going to be at WDW when y'all are due. I just hope to come back to good news!!!

Hey girls- I am so excited to see all of you in the 2ww! I sincerely hope for BFPs for all of you!

Well, as of Friday my internet/phone will be disconnected so DH and I can save money. SO- it'll be harder for me to check in on all of you, but I promise I will! (I'm too nosy and involved NOT to, :rotfl: )

That sucks Nichole but at least it will be covered in January. Look at what is happening in Rhode Island the general assembly voted in the budget that the insurance companies don't have to cover infertility treatment is your over 40. Also Carla not all insurance companies cover abortions Kevin has a rider because he works for the state. If he didn't it would be covered

Wow, there will be a whole lot of testing coming up! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: BFP's for everyone!!!!

Nicole, I'm sorry for all the hassles about this. At least January is only 2 months away. I agree with everyone else - I have no idea why some things are covered, but treatment for a legitimate medical issue is not. Why can you have an elective abortion covered by insurance, but not infertility treatment?

Fanofdisney - the pineapple, cough syrup, and green tea sound nasty! Remind us all not to eat at your house ;)

Yes, insurance companies really have NO CLUE. :sad2: I am a speech-language pathologist, and soooooo many insurance companies deny children speech therapy coverage (beyond the 7-10 visits they initially get - which really isn't a lot). One family I worked with had a 6 yr old child who was very bright, but virtually unintelligable - he had sooooo many misarticulations, his parents had to literally translate for me what he was saying! After his 10 visits, his insurance company denied future coverage because he did not have a specific medical diagnosis (autism, developmental delay, etc...) To pay out of pocket for speech therapy can be very, very pricey! One insurance company told me outright that they deny all initial claims for extended coverage, and will reconsider if the family chooses to re-submit. SERIOUSLY? :confused3

So, bottom line.....insurance companies really have no clue - and the decision makers are soooooo far removed from these actual situations, which is really too bad.

Hmmmm....pineapple. I will have to try that one!

OK, so today, I broke down and bought a basal thermometer. I said I wasn't going to get into all of that, but I am curious, and, why not? I work from home so I don't have to be up at any certain time, so I think it should be easy.
I have a few questions about it though.

Today I am on CD10. Should I start temping tomorrow?

I could only find a digital basal thermometer. The glass ones didn't say basal any place on them, but this one did. Is that OK?

What time do you all temp? I normally wake up around 7, but it just depends, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. I don't mind setting an alarm. :listen:

Where do I get the charts from? I am CLUELESS! But excited to try this. :goodvibes

Oh, and I figured out why I am losing a lot of hair!!! I read that if you had a m/c, within about 2-3 months, you may start losing your hair, just like if you had a baby. At least I know why now.

Ugh- insurance companies.

Mine refused to pay for my zofran (anti-emetic to keep me from vomiting, oh, every 5 minutes). They said they have a "once in a lifetime" fill policy on it. It is INSANELY expensive- roughly $25 per PILL, and I had to take 1 pill every 4 hours for weeks and weeks.

I had to jump through a lot of hoops, and so did my doctor to finally get that medicine refilled. And even then, they made me use a pharmacy in Pittsburgh (yeah- I live in IL).

But it was one of those things that is just routinely denied, unless you and your doc throw a fit, which no one should have to do.

The digital basal thermometers are the only ones I have seen- and way easy to read/use. It doesn't matter what TIME you temp, just make sure that you do it at the same time every day (or at least within 1/2 an hour or so). I would reccommend setting the alarm.

I got my charts out of the back of the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" but you can check www.fertilityfriend.com- I think they have things you can print off, PLUS you can join their basic services for free and you can just enter your temps onto the computer.

And it wouldn't hurt you to start temping tomorrow, since you know what CD you are on.

Zofran will be denied without special approval because use during pregnancy is off-label. It's not approved for use during pregnancy - and it's not even approved for use with a c-section even though the on-label use is for PONV (post-operative nausea and vomiting) and certain types of chemotherapy. It's used so often because it's been shown to be safer in pregnancy than the other drugs (compazine, phenergan). But, it's an off-label use and sets off bells in the insurance company's systems. It baffles me why they don't just get it approved for this use to save everyone the hassle. But, why bother with that expense when doctors are giving it out anyway? They don't care that patients and doctors have to fight for coverage, they're just happy it's being prescribed - even if it's being prescribed for a non-approved use when they could just spend a little money and effort, get it approved, and make it easy on everyone.

That's my little rant against the drug companies for the day. :)

:grouphug: Carla, I am so sorry to hear about your OB! That is really quite a story. I hope you are able to find someone you like. Have you had an ultrasound yet? I am so curious to find out how many you have in there...what is your EDD?

Nicole, I am sorry that things haven't been working out for you with the insurance company. I hope that things go smoothly come January!

Dmickey28 - your blood pressure sounds fine, but I would definitely mention what happened to your doc next time you see him/her. I have those kinds of episodes every once in a while too, and it is usually when I haven't had enough to eat. Hope you are feeling good.

Michelle - I hope you are feeling better soon, and that you have lots of fun partying it up for Halloween. I hope that let you do the IUI in November and that it is successful - because you two are going to have some pretty babies. You are a great looking couple :cheer2:

Elaine - have a great trip. Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

For everyone in the 2ww - lots of baby dust to you. To anyone else - hope all is well.

I had my regular OB appointment today. Nothing major (which is a good thing, I suppose.) I still have a ton of nausea although it is much less frequent. My next appointment is in 4 weeks, and will be my 20-week ultrasound and we definitely want to find out the gender.

Okay, maybe I am dense - but I have to ask y'all - WHAT is the brown bikini??
