2bmarried...well, we are listed as Dr. Walmer's patient since we used an egg donor, and had 1 appt with him in addition to our consultation in the beginning, but have seen more of the IVF nurse Kim, that deals with the egg donor program. Funny thing is, Drr. Price, who I had never met before did our Embryo Transfer, we got a BFP, and providing everything looks good, Tuesday will be our last appt at Duke for now, and maybe forever if this is twins.. I am wondering if Dr. Walmer is even doing my ultrasound...

Meredith...that's pretty funny. Kim is an absolute sweet heart!! She taught me how to give myself injections and that was no small task. Dr. Walmer is an OK guy. I'm not surprised that you haven't really seen him. He tends to oversee everything versus meeting with patients. Dr. Price is very nice too. He worked with Dr. Behera to perform my Laparoscopy. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw Dr. B or Price on Tuesday. Good luck on Tuesday and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you don't have to visit them again

Gypsy...sorry I can't be of any help. 2005 was my last normal OB visit. It's been IVF doctors since then.

You may want to ask your doc to do an HSG. It really could be something as simple as a blocked tube. It wouldn't cost you anything more than a copay. And if there were other issues, they would be seen and taken care of ASAP

Thanks, Gurgi. My next appt is in August and I definitely plan on talking about options then, if I'm not pregnant before then. Oh, and the copay thing doesn't work for me....I have a high deductible plan so my copay is pretty darn high! That's one of the reasons I was so upset with the BFP not sticking last month! Now, if I get pregnant, I'll have the pregnancy stretch over two years so that's two copays! Grrrr

Kristy, I grew up in Cary, went to Cary elemetary and went to West cary for 2 years when it was still a Jr. High! Then we moved to Raleigh and my mom still lives there. We knew we would go to Duke when we were ready to have kids since I went there as a adolescent, which is when I was DX with Turner Syndrome which is why I am infertile. No one in Wilmington does IVF and besides, if they needed any of my old charts or anything, it is all on file there!

Oh wow...If I'm not mistaken we live right around the corner from the elementary school...but I could be wrong. Since I don't have kids yet I don't keep track of the school names. I understand about Duke having all of your records. It's the same for me. I grew up in Creedmoor(good ole Granville County) so we always went to Duke and my mom works there. My husbands has azoospermia(his sperm won't come out) and I have PCOS.

Good morning all... dealing with not so fun situation with my grandmother and nursing homes. Truthfully since she is 95 almost 96 and has a severe form of dementia, she needs it and not to live with her 70 year old daughter who can no longer lift her. One irresponsible child is not listening to us much.

Rebecca I can only guess how emotional you are right now. Just hang in there and I will keep my fingers crossed for you

Momsully, I am sooooo afraid of needles. I don't see how acupuncture could ever help me since they tense me up so I say try it once, you never know.

Good lucky Gypsy! I'm sure everything will go well and it won't be much more than blood draws and maybe a pelvic exam at this point.

Allison, how are you doing today? I am sure this is all nerve wracking. Sorry about the insurance though. We are blessed with pretty good insurance here, and with the last pregnancy it still wouldn't have been too bad even though it was stretched over two calendar years. Hopefully simple blood tests or maybe an ultrasound to look inside would help. I believe my doc said that would've been her first steps.

I just had a root canal done, so I am sitting here with a half numb face (is there a smiley for that? or rather, a frowney?) Oh, how I hate the dentist! I would rather go to the gyno anyday over the dentist! I was just trying to be proactive--all the books say to get a dental check up before you get pregnant, so that's what I did and I ended up having to get a root canal (and the tooth didn't really even hurt all that much)! Just proves my theory: You're never sick until you go to the doctor.

I, too, am charting challenged. My charts look like an EKG, there are so many spikes. Of-course that's when I can remember to take my temp. And I never seem to get up at the same time everyday. I usually just wake up whenever the cat starts walking across my head. But I am diligently trying to chart this month. According to FF, no ovulation has been detected yet. I am keeping my thoughts positive that this will be the month!!!

Sorry about your tooth. Every time I go to the dentist I have to update my health information card. I was pregnant with my first when I filled it out, and it always brings a smile to my face when I see it.

Yse, I watched Grey's. It is my "can't miss show." But sometimes I wait and watch it on Fridays, because often times I can't stay awake for it on Thursdays. I can't believe all the pregnant people on the show last night. What do you think was up with Adele - did she miscarry? I wonder why they never had kids. Maybe Joe and his partner will decide not to keep both twins, and give one to Adele and the chief.

Elaine: My insurance situation really isn't that bad. We switched DS to my DH's insurance, so my deductible is a bit lower now ($2500 instead of $5500). DH has a high deductible plan, too, but his family deductible is $3500 instead of my $5500). I have the money in my HSA, but it still sucks!

Sue: I did watch Grey's last night and could totally relate to Addison's expressions! And I hear ya about temping. I've been off of BCP since last June and I can say that I've only temp and entire month twice, and one of those times was this past month!

Rebecca...I'm so sorry! Good luck this month! Looks like there are quite a few of us getting close to that point where just BD'ing isn't cutting it any more. I know in August, I plan on discussing my options with my OB since it'll be about 14mths I will be off of BCP by then.



Well, today I started spotting. Today is CD31 for me. This is strange, because I never spot. When AF arrives, she just arrives....I can't remember the last time I had spotting. So I'm not sure what to think. I keep going to the bathroom but there's nothing more than a little spotting, and only when I wipe. So I guess I'll wait it out and see if AF arrives tomorrow or later today. If I don't get anything heavier today, I may still buy a HPT tonight just in case. I'm a bit bummed, but nothing like last month.

I had an ice cream cone today. I have a b-day party to go to and dairy isn't always my friend. So I wanted to see how my stomach handled it today. If it is mild heartburn no problem. I am kind of in the "hiding it from family" until next month. It will be hopefully bittersweet... I would have been due June 2nd. On June 5th I have my first visit with dopplar... and if I hear that heartbeat I will tell family. If not... I suppose I'll start hating June

Allison, I admit your deductible is still high compared to mine. I think mine is $150/yr. We have an awesome health center on site at my DH's company. Fingers crossed for spotting. First pregnancy I had that as well just about the time AF was due. This one, nothing, but that is very common thing to happen.

The temping I'm doing more so that I have some sort of background info to give my dr when I go in August. I'd hate to show up in August only to have her say, "try temping for a few months so we can see what your cycle is like." It'll be a year next month that I stopped BCP. I'm ready to take the next step, whatever that may be. Testing and Clomid is probably as far as I'd go...maybe IUI. Not positive. Hopefully it won't come to that!

I am trying to be diligent with the charting for the exact same reason. I have an appt next month, but I don't know how helpful my charts will be. I, too, don't know how much further I would be willing to go past Clomid. If we don't get pregnant this month, I think I am going to try acupuncture. I just read this great book on TCM called The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis. I don't know how much that stuff really helps, but the book was written in such a positive and uplifting voice and that really pulled me through this last cycle. I figure anything that doesn't hurt is worth a try.

Allison I am sorry I totally understand the charting. My friend is doing that too just for that reason as well.
I think it wouldn't hurt to do the asprin and juice since they are cheap. Mucinex is great but $$$ not sure I could justify doing that monthly. But... I do hope next month is better for you!

Sue, we were going through similar thoughts... what were we willing to do to get pregnant. For us, in the end, it seemed like not much at all. Particularly to me... no to my DH that would be a whole other story

I wanted to tell you all that after talking to my friend this week, she thanks all who gave any insight. It seems like now her cycles are all about 20 days. The doctor doesn't believe she is ovulating, which my friend can't' tell for sure. A few months it looks like she is, and others it doesn't. This is proving a huge problem for her with taking the blood test on CD 21 because she hasn't had one in 3 months now. She truly appreciates everything and even though she just went in to talk, she wants to do it again.
For those who saw RE, did you have to be referred to one? I think she wants to jump to one since she doesn't like this doctor much. I realize that it is insurance dependent, but I thought I would ask to see how all others had to. She doesn't have a named primary care physician if that matters.
