DD is already mentioning that she hopes to see an elf. She is putting out crackers and water tonight to see if anyone shows up!

Ours came on Saturday morning. I sent DS 9 out to get the newspaper and he came running in with a box from the North Pole ;) He was so excited! This is our first year so I wasn't sure how the kids were react, since they're older. When they opened the box they seemed a little disappointed that it wasn't an early gift, but they read the letter and learned that Santa sent Alabaster Snowball. It has been fun to hear them talking about him- how did he get from one spot to the other, etc (DH and I move him occasionally). He came with a journal and writes to Santa at night about the kids' behavior that day (yesterday was the first day and he mentioned that they seemed to argue a lot, but he was sure they would work on that). DD 8 even wrote Alabaster a note- asking whether we should take him with us to WDW :rotfl:

Jingle came Saturday! A book came a week before from Santa talking about the Magical Messenger Elves and my niece who just turned 5 was scared... so I was worried... but Jingle came with gifts (ornament making kit from Micheals for her and a Thomas movie for my nephew) so she likes him now! She, too, asks how he gets from one spot to another. She slept over last night and he was in a new spot this morning with 2 tiny teddy bears in his bag. She just couldn't understand how he moved but keeps talking about him.

Ziggy showed up in a fancy box (with airholes) on Thanksgiving day. He was sitting on the front step when we came home. DD was very amused to see him reading one of her books the first morning, but she DIDN'T like the fact that he took out her crayons last night and "made a mess" on the floor without asking her first.

Her letter from Santa stipulated that Ziggy is young, so he might get into a little trouble while he's here... we'll see!

This is our first year getting an elf. He arrived Fri while we were decorating for Christmas. The boys were so super excited, they are 7 and 3. They named him Candycane Toymaker (because he has two tiny candycanes in his hat and he makes the toys) and my 7yr old is totally facinated by him. Sat morning we woke up to find Candycane on the curtain rod in the kitchen. This morning we woke up to find him on the ceiling fan in our room, complete with red and green streamers wrapped around the fan. He even had my 3yr old's "baby" wrapped up there too. They can't wait to wake up each morning to go on the Candycane Toymaker hunt! Oh, he arrived with a Star Wars figure for each of them and a letter from Santa letting the boys know why he was here.

I think we have the same elf!

Our's will be there when they wake up tomorrow. His name is Buddy because we loved Elf. He didn't bring gifts, but maybe he will later

ours will be arriving tomorrow , this is the first year and my kids are 11,9,6 and 2 i still have to write the letter and figure out how he is going to arrive and in what lol, he will be coming with a lego advent calender and later in the week he will bring some candy canes , not sure what else i will plan lol

We have the freaky elf on a shelf. My 6 year old has said "that guy freaks me out. His body is ok but his face":scared1:

But they were THRILLED this morning when he left a note. So hopefully the freak out will wear off.

I want to take a couple pictures of his antics at night for the kids but they have not gone to bed on time the past few nights. Maybe now with school again they'll settle in and I can get into some silliness.

Oh good gravy! Our elf wont be here for several more days. Maybe around the 10th or so. We used to start early, but my husband and I would run out of ideas, or forget we were supposed to move the elves. Ooops!

I'm planning for our Elf to come on St. Nicholas Day, which will be Saturday morning. I have the letter ready. It's our first time doing this, so I'm not sure what the kids will think.

Our elves came the day after Thanksgiving... We have Elf, our "real" elf (this will be our 3rd year w/ him) and XOXO, an elf in training who is very mischievious and gets into all kinds of "trouble". Had to add him last year b/c our Elf was too good to play any of the tricks I read about on here.... This morning, he pee'd green elf pee in the potty downstairs and had toilet paper strung all over. Elf decided to stay at the North Pole last night b/c my girls just weren't acting right - he did send a letter back w/ XOXO and they acted MUCH better today so he'll be back in the morning.... We Love our Elves!!!

OMG I found out about this from someone on this site and thought everyone was crazy but I saw him in the mall (at half off) and picked him up anyways. He arrived Friday so I called my DD6 who was at my mom's house and told her all about it. She LOVED it and named him Santy :santa: .

Thanks to all the DIS tips and tricks, our elves arrived on Saturday! We have three elves, one for each of my children. I wasnt sure how they would react, but they are totally in love with them!! The first night, the kids forgot to put out their crackers and those silly elves decided to get some of their own!! They got into the pantry, opened a box of oyster crackers and made a mess eating them that night. Then, last night, the elves must have been playing hard....One elf was riding Robosapien and the other two were driving Tonka trucks behind them. Looks like we caught them in a chase!!

My children, ages 9, 7, and 4 are totally into this elf idea, its been a great two days!!

Thanks DIS for the great tips and tricks, without you guys, I wouldnt have even known Elves existed!

Hugs,
Deb

OMG! Will someone please clue me in? Did I miss out on some childhood experience that I am not sharing with my kids? What is this all about?

Our Elf "Jingle" arrived on Thanksgiving morning with a letter from Santa. Our elf does something silly nightly. Today he's hiding under an umbrella because he took the cat out last night and he didn't want to get wet, yesterday he was sitting in a chair with a snowman, the night before he was hanging upside down on our light in case we did any more crafts at the table. The first thing the kids do in the morning and look for the elf and then read his myspace blog.

Here's my myspace page:

We first had our elf arrive 2 years ago. He came back again last year, but this is some of the things he did the first year he arrived. My DS8 is anticipating his arrival again this year, but I'm not sure I can come up enough stuff to do this year. He may make a short visit closer to Christmas.

1. Arrival by UPS straight from North Pole, with Christmas Movie.
2. TP’d the house/hallways.
3. Decorated trees with tinsel
4. Froot Loop trail to where elf is hiding
5. Build with Knex
6. Colored a Christmas picture and left new color book, left crayons out all over.
7. Play cards with another stuffed animal.
8. Decorate tree with underwear.
9. Made a puzzle mess and left new puzzle.
10. Moved the truck, turned on wipers, radio loud, fans blew, pillows to sit on.
11. Write on bathroom mirrors and glass doors with window markers.
12. Created cookie dough snowmen, rolled in flour.
13. Turned photos upside down.
14. Snow angels flour
15. Watched movies, popped popcorn.
16. Made paper snowflakes and decorated the dining room with them.

I can't recall what he was all up to last year, he did pee green in the toilet, and left a large oversize color book, hung socks from the mantle. Here's a couple of photos:

Mistletoe arrived last night sitting on a bookshelf bearing 2 Advent Calenders. Even at age 10, the girls got VERY excited that Mistletoe came!!!

Our two will be arriving when they kids get here on Friday, I'm so excited! I bought two of the Annalee elves at Ross for $8 each. I ended up getting two so they would each have their own and they could do things together at night.

I bought the holiday photo boxes at Hobby Lobby for their "beds" and for them to arrive in, plus some snowflake confetti glitter to put in a shaker to come with them as magic dust (or whatever). I need to write the letters and probably set up a blog so they can check in on their antics the nights they are not over.

I just hope the kids are as excited as I am. My SO thinks I'm nuts. ;)
