Hi there, we've been recommended that the Cypress Pointe Resort in Lake Buena Vista is lovely. Has anyone been there? Any down sides? Approx how long a drive to Disney (and prob more importantly - how difficult??).
Last time we came over the water in 2000 we stayed at Vistana which was great, although HUGE.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ju

I will be staying at Cypress Pointe this Easter & checked it out (from the outside) when I was there this weekend.

The resort is located approx 1/2 mile from the Downtown Disney hotels & maybe 1 & 1/2 mi from Downtown Disney market place. Once you are on the street alongside DD you can easily find your way to the parks by following the signs. It is also maybe a mile to I4 if you wish to get to Disney from the I4 exits.

They are also conveniently located by the Crossroads shopping/restaurant complex with several restaurants to choose from. Coming out of the resort to your right on Apopka Vineland road, there is a Winn Dixie grocery store (looks brand new).

From the exterior, this resort will probably not be as nice as Vistana & is probably not as large but it looks to be a very decent place to stay. I reserved it through hotelkingdom.com for about $88 a night & at Easter, I thought that was a great rate.

this link should take you to their webpage:

p.s. A bit of advise, there is a Steak & Shake within walking distance that we went to yesterday, I will not ever go back to the restaurant because it was quite dirty & the service was unorganized & horrible. I sat near the kitchen & watched numerous orders being returned for being made incorrectly.

My family and I are also arriving there on the 17th of April and staying there for 7 nights. I've never seen it myself but there have been many posts about it here and no one has said anything bad about it. Everything I have read was possitive thats why we are going to stay there. Just like cinamin27 said, for $88 dollars a night for a 2 bedroom place it is a great price.

Thanks for the info about the Steak & Shake. We are big steak house eaters and we would of eaten there. Now we know not to.:)

excall99,

Steak & Shake is a steakburger & milk shake/malt type restaurant. TGI Fridays, Pizzaria Uno, Chili's and some other restaurants are located in the Crossroads shopping center. I'm not sure if there are any steak houses in Crossroads or not. You would have REALLY been disappointed if you went into steak & shake looking for a steak ;)

My daughter & I will be at Cypress Point April 18th - 21st, maybe we will see you by the volcano pool!

I've stayed at Cypress Pointe Resort. Out of the 5 resorts I've stayed at, I would put Cypress pointe the at the bottom of my list. It was clean and the unit we stayed in was remodeled but it still didn't look as nice as the others I've stayed in. It connects with Cypress Pointe Grandvillas and I heard these were nice new villas. Remember this is my opinion and I do believe it's a nice place but it wouldn't be my first choice. At the price you get it for, it sure beats a hotel any day. I've never stayed at Vistana so I can not compare the two.

Vistana is nice and large but also has some less desireable sections. I have stayed at Cypress Pointe 3 times now and with the new Homeowners Assoc. running things they have made alot of improvements. I dont think you will be disappointed and the location is great.

We stayed at Cypress Pointe about a year ago and found it just "ok". Our unit was a little worn and we were not crazy about the layout of the master bathroom. There was no door to any of it, not even the toilet. There was a slider to the the screen porch in the bedroom as well as the living room, so for a little bit of privacy for the bathroom, you had 2 doors to close. We liked Westgate Lakes much better - nicer furnishings and better layout. However, Cypress Pointe is much closer to Disney and very close to Downtown Disney for shopping.

I booked Cypress Pointe - 3 bdrm for Christmas Week with Hotel Kingdom. After booking I found a rate of 89. including tax at hotelmartusa. Hotel Kingdom matched the rate and I ended up with 702.68 including tax for 8 nights over Christmas week!
I have gotten SO many great tips and discounts from here. I hope this helps someone else.

We just returned from CP this past Thursday and I took a few photos if anyone would like me to email them to you.I'd be more than pleased! We've been enjoying CP for the past 9 years and found this year that there have been a lot of improvements with the upkeep and the staff! We had a blast!:bounce: :Pinkbounc
