Any good reason to use MDE?

I see a lot of complaints about MDE. Stories about wrong dates of birth and IT telling folks to cancel reservations to fix mixed up avatars??

For my upcoming trip I booked magical express and ADRs from the DVC website at maybe 90 days out and had no issues. Is there some benefit to using MDE? Or can I continue to ignore its existence and preserve that aspect of my sanity?

For now, unless you want to use on-line check-in there, no need to worry about it too much.

DVC does not host the dining reservation system, that link redirects you to disneyworld.com/dining.

For DME, it's actually an e-mail request that MS manually enters.

If you plan on using FastPass+ when it finally launches, you will need to use MDE for that (website or mobile app).

Unless you plan to use Fastpass+ when it becomes available, I say skip it. I was one of the ones who had trouble with avatars linking properly. My trip isn't until next year and I'm a fastpass user, so it was important for me that it get set up properly. Otherwise, until Disney gets the problems worked out I would just skip it.

For now the rides we go on are very toddler centric and so as long as we don't need a fast pass for the teacups, dumbo or the tiki room it sounds like we should be ok.

Thanks for the input - with so many posts and so many posters determined to make MDE work come heck or high water, I figured there was some huge benefit I didn't know about.

One other thing you would use MDE (website or app) for, would be to claim tickets or annual passes and associate them to MagicBands.
