Any frequent Virgin members out there

I've read all about the Frequent Virgin club on their website and can't find an answer. Could I book for us and another family and get the 10% discount for everyone. The brochure says you qualify if you've booked or been on your third holiday. We booked a package with Virgin in 2003 but just the flights in 2004. Would this count as 2 holidays? Any thoughts... Thanks

Not sure so the best bet would be to call the FVC.

No you can't. The discount only applies to members. I know this since we took and paid for a friend of DS and we weren't allowed the discount for him. Sorry!

Try joining the flying club instead as you may not have the same people doing a whole holiday with you each time, then you can get the flying club credit card and earn extra miles

We are Frequent Virgins. Flights dont qualify, fly drives count as a holiday so they do count. ie) if you booked with Virgin Atlantic for the flights that doesn't count but a Fly Drive with Virgin Holidays does.

Yes you would get the discount for the whole party if you book together. I am sure I got the discount when my friends and my parents came with us- it must be on one booking though.

Still shop around though, I got Virgin flights cheaper through Funway this May. For my next trip (Saturday woo hoo  ) I am redeeming some Virgin Flying Club miles so one of us is free, but otherwise First Choice would have been cheaper and they have new planes which look good.

Thanks for your replies. I was a bit confused because I received a mail shot telling me I would qualify when I booked my next holiday. I am wondering if they are counting the holiday we took with them to Disneyland Paris 8 years ago. I shall have to give Virgin a call for clarification.

Hi
we went with friends in 2003 who had not gone before. We did get the discount for them as well but had to book the holiday as one, which is no big deal.
Hope this helps.

As mentioned, the best thing for you (and your friend) to do is sign up for the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. It is free to sign up and gets you 10% discount off of all Virgin Holidays. Seems a bit silly to me that Virgin "reward" their frequent customers with a discount already offered elsewhere. You can sign up online at www.virgin-atlantic.co.uk

The other advantage of FV is that you get a free upgrade on your rental car.

Sorry to be a bit blonde (well it is early morning) but would joining the freqent flying club automatically get me 10% off my next holiday booking.

Yes if you are eligible to join (this must be your third trip booked with Virgin Holidays) you will get 10% off and a car upgrade. You cannot get the discount by booking online. Phone them, they are very helpful.

We are members of the FVC and have found the 10% discount is invaluable and has meant that it is cheaper to book the package via Virgin then book it all separately and with the car upgrade to boot it is also a good deal.
You also get a discount on overnight accomodation at certain airport hotels but you must book this direct with the FVC.
When we joined they allowed our son 2 to also benefit from the discount and we had to complete an application form and give details of all prevouis holidays.

I applied years ago after my first holiday, I just sent details of that holiday and two random dates I plucked out of the air. Two weeks later my membership cards arrived....

:rotfl2: Thanks for that - now all I've got to do is choose between the two. Thanks guys.

Unless you want to change your booking and will need to speak to someone in an Indian Call Centre

I like most others hate calling Indian call centres. However I must stick up for the one that is used by Virgin. I have had to call them twice now to make amendments to my booking for next month and Nov '06. For this years holiday I noticed that the hotel we had booked was now a 4 star and I had read on these boards a few problems about it. Called the CC and they changed our hotel to another in Naples and I wasn't charged the £25pp amendment fee. For Nov 06 holiday Virgin write to me to tell me work is being done near the hotel so I call again and revise my booking and again am not charged.
We have recently moved house called the Indian CC again to amend my details, yes it did take me 20 minutes to do it, but through the post I have received a copy of all of amended invoices and they gave me our cabin number and DCL ref number for next years holiday.

Perhaps you got lucky!

I wanted to move my holiday one week back. Starting the 28th Feb 06 to 21st. Easy really.

I called and spoke to 'Joe' who after 10+ minutes understood what I wanted. I did speak slowly and very clearly, but this still took a long time.

I was finally told it would cost me £534... excluding admin fees of £25 per person (my party of 4) so £634.

No way was this right. over £600 to move my, not extend, but move the date! They asked me if I was going to pay. Forget it.

I have had a few encounters with these jokers now and quite frankly am put off by booking Virgin again in case I need to make a change.

I then decided to email Virgin who told me it would cost me £333.00 inc. admin fees!

This isn't true. Jan was referring to the flying club - which is free to join and does not require any previous bookings. You can sign up for free online and get 10% off of Virgin Holidays.

I am pretty sure you don't get 10% off if you join Flying Club. I was certainly never told that when I joined. Maybe things have changed? Flying Club is Virgin's version of Airmiles. You get points each time you fly and can use them for free or reduced price flights. It is run by Virgin Atlantic and is nothing to do with Virgin Holidays. We just used our points to get a free flight to Orlando.

Frequent Virgins is run by Virgin Holidays, you need to book 3 holidays (including Flydrives) to get the membership which entitles you to benefits like 10% off and free car upgrade.
