Anti theft device on pants that I paid for

I have had this happen at Kohls before. I just took them in and they removed them. It was seriously no big deal.

isn't that thing supposed to make the alarm go off as you leave?
If it's the non-ink type it can depend on how sensitive they set their detectors.

When I worked at a particular place they had to put their sensor on weaker because it was going off from people's cell phones, etc. Basically it was too sensitive.

Take it back to the store. That is their fault, and no way would I risk damaging my new pants because of their mistake. I had this happen to a pair of slippers once & had to look through the garbage to find the receipt. Took them back with receipt & they fixed it, looking rightfully sheepish. It's really poor customer service on the store's part for them to let this happen at all, because if you lose your receipt, you're SOL. It shouldn't be the customer's job to prevent this problem.
It happens. But when I worked retail, and things have changed I'm sure, it wasn't always a case of you're SOL if you didn't bring in a receipt-that was usually a case by case basis if one didn't have a receipt not an automatic no. YMMV on that part.

On the other part I do understand what the other poster is talking about. It's sorta one thing to say "it's frustrating to have to take it back to have them take it off" and another thing to say "looking rightfully sheepish" "really poor customer service on the store's part for them to let this happen at all", "shouldn't be the customer's job to prevent this problem". IDk it came off more harsh.

Majority of the time it's just an honest mistake, which everyone is capable of doing, not an employee who just sucks at their job and is inattentive.

There are all sorts of types. I wonder how many times the ones with permanent ink ever accidentally sprayed when removing with the correct equipment.

Some are the kind that are placed on a disabling mechanism, like in books. I think they often come standard with books or clothing. I've got some books I ordered from Amazon where it's firmly stuck on one of the pages, and they don't really need to worry about retail theft. Some of the clothes my wife has use these things embedded right in the label where they have to be cut off unless you like having a hard piece of plastic rubbing against your neck. Something like this:

Just take the pants and the receipt into the store and ask for them to remove the security tag. I would not feel funny about it at all, it wasn't your mistake. My husband usually takes them off if we find them still on clothing we have purchased, I guess we've gotten lucky that no ink was involved!

I would caveman it, take it our on the drive and keep hitting it with a brick and see what happens

Happened to me at Macys. I bought my daughter her Easter dress. Never gave it a second thought until Easter morning when I went to dress her, I saw it had one of those on it. I was so upset. Didnt have another dress for her, but didnt want everyone at church/restaurant thinking I stole the dress. She wore pants and a sweater that day. I brought the dress back to Macy's on Monday and asked to speak with a manager. I told him that I understood it was an oversight, but what was the purpose if no alarm went off and that I did not want an exchange/credit because Easter was over and I had no use for it (it was a fluffy/lacey dress only for Easter). I got my money back (I had receipt), plus a $50 gift card. Normally I wouldnt take it, but I was so upset Easter morning, then stressing over what else I could dress her in I felt I somewhat deserved the GC, so I took it.

I have 3 children. My oldest 2 are boys. They are 13 and 10 years older than my princess daughter. Im sure you can imagine me on Easter with a 3 year old girl :) She is 14 now and fights me on dressing up!

It's not a big deal until one waits until the last minute to wear it, presents it as a gift, etc. and/or one has no time to return it (life gets in the way, work, kids/schedule, etc.) and/or the store is just "a little" out of the way too.

Still not world problems/not the end of the world just annoying/extra work/trip not needed/things happen - yes. for sure ..........just sharing our thoughts :) -

I once ordered skipants online. They came with ink antintheft thingy. Great had to send them back.

Is this the place to mention my sis purchased something from WDW and yep had an tag on it when she got home.

I've learned to check everything over once I buy it. You never know what defect you may find.

I brought a Duffy home from Disneyland to give to my nephew and when we got home we realized he still had the tag on his ear. I contacted Disney merchandising and they sent me a new tag-free Duffy and told me to keep tagged Duffy. I gave my nephew the new one and about 6 months later brought Duffy (and his receipt) to Aulani and they took his tag off so technically I ended up with two Duffy’s for the price of one.

I had no clean pair of pants today. So I got out a pair of pants I paid for about a month ago and it had the anti theft device on it. So I get out the other pair I got two that day and that one has the anti theft device on it also. I still have the receipt but that doesn’t prove anything just says I bought two pair of pants. I looked up how to remove it on google. Anyone have any success doing it? 40 dollars for the pants for one of them. 80 dollars. Got them at boscovs

I would take the pants and the receipt back to the store and have them remove the device.

When I've had this happen the sensors have never triggered the alarm at the door. Ironically many times I've bought something, triggered the alarm walking out and they couldn't figure out what was setting of the alarm since I didn't have bags from another store with me either. Why oh why can't the alarm go off if they've forgotten to take the sensor off and save me from having to make a trip back to get it removed?

Never let a machine tell you what to do. Pop that tag off yourself then go howl at the stars while drinking scotch and smoking a fresh Coney dog.

If you do have to slink back to the store and ask for help wearing your own pants, at least drive there with them clipped to the front grill like Tom Hardy in Fury Road.

Is that an anti-theft device on your pants or are you just happy to see me?

I have had this happen to me twice. Once was at WDW and I had to take is to the Disney Store in local mall to have the tag removed. I now check to see if a security tag is attached BEFORE I make the purchase and then watch to insure the sales clerk removes it. I have had to "remind" them multiple times over the years.

It’s happened to me a few times too. Once with a bra and once with a purse. Never set the alarm off. It’s a pain, but I took the items back to the store as soon as I realized it. Didn’t want to risk doing damage trying to remove it myself.

Just glanced through, so I don't know if this has been answered, but what type of tag is it?

This has happened to me before (and I have also gotten clothes delivered from online purchases) where the plastic security tag is still attached. At least twice, it was extremely inconvenient to take the item back to the store - one was a pair of pants for my husband that I bought about 2 months before Christmas and was in process of wrapping on Christmas Eve when I discovered the tag, and another was an online purchase from a non-brick and mortar store that I needed to wear for a wedding a few days later.

So, I took my pair of TINY, sharp, very long-pointed trimming scissors and made just enough of a slit that I could pull the smallest part of the tag through (like a button hole), then stitched up the slit. I am a terrible sewer, and even I could hardly tell it was sewn back together.
