Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

Also what does it mean when you look at your uploaded videos section and it says "video error", did I do something wrong, should I just reupload again?

I hope you have better luck than I had with this video error thing. 14 of my videos were rejected due to so called codec errors, 'video errors'. 1 was approved and it's now live. They were all uploaded the same way on the same day~ August 1. :confused3 Sad thing is this, they were all craft videos which were paying $10 at the time of upload. :sad2:

Can someone who is familiar w/paypal answer a question for me? If one were to upgrade to the premier account and actually upload and get paid for 100 reviews this mth, what would the total expense be? :confused3

Cost for the premier account. ?$$?
Transaction of precentage fee for withdrawals. ?$$?
Etc.

I was wondering if the fees would offset the profit and make it not worth going over the 50 videos. Should I just stay w/the basic paypal and only do 50 reviews?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

paypal won't charge a fee on your money from expo. Not sure why that is since they charge for ebay auctions and such. I got my full payment from them into my premier account w/no fee deducted. And there was no fee to send it to my checking acct. :thumbsup2

Ugh...I reviewed 2 Leap Pad Learning System books and I selected one of their pictures. They had them under the toys catagory. Well, now that they've gone over my review, it was approved but they moved it to "books" instead of "toys" and now it's only worth $2. Wouldn't irk me so much if they had them catagorized under books. Plus....it's a TOY....they don't sell them in the book aisle or in book stores. They are in the toy aisle of a toy or department store. They are accessories for a TOY. Am I wrong? Should I email or let it go?

Toys are now $2. I would just forget it.

Hum. Out of the 10 I've uploaded only one says video error the rest still say pending. I find it interesting that this one was in the middle of my uploads and yet someone had the chance to see it had an error when none of the others have been viewed. Strange. Fingers crossed.

I still can't view mine, they all say "preview" but I can't see them.

I have an email in to expo asking them about the whole audio & video sync thing explaining that they are just fine and perfectly in sync on my computer, so we'll see what they have to say about that. . .

Oooohhhh, I will be interested in hearing what they have to say about that. We had 29 rejected due to the sync problem, while they were perfect on our computer. But the good news is that we got paid for July!

I just had 2 more videos approved today and I'm still waiting on about 10 more. It's going to be hard to get 100 videos but I'm really trying!!! Good luck to everyone!

About the video errors and the audio sync problem so many people are having...if you're using Movie Maker, this might be something to think about.
Those of you who say the audio is fine on your end but not theirs... Well, is that the audio in the "project" file, or is it the "movie" file? There's a difference. The project file is what you get when you just click "file-->save project as". This file is not a nice, tidy package that will work for expo. It's for a work in progress, a project. And it will have problems like the audio sync...if it even uploads. Or it will upload and say "video error".
When you are completely finished editing and are ready to upload it, go to "file-->save movie file". And then save it to a folder you have set up just for completed expo videos so it doesn't get mixed in with all the project files in your regular "my videos" file. I HATE it when I go to upload to expo and can't find the right file because I have 4 or 5 similar files that were actually "project files" that went into making the final version.:headache:
Was that clear as mud?:upsidedow

Yes, you can review breeds of dogs/cats. I was skeptical- but that's my kitten review up above! LOL! It works- it was approved YESTERDAY- so as of yesterday, you could review them!

Go ahead and review your Sheltie- I'm going to do my kids' Shelties too! LOL!

What category did it fall under?

That is the problem I had the other day. I saved using the blue disk icon instead of clicking "Save to computer" in the actions menu on the left of the screen. DH asked how I saved it and discovered that final step. When the project is saved it is still in project mode and is listed as a .MSWMM file, this file isn't compatable with upload on expo and usually can't be converted to any other type of file. I have done a couple of videos now and haven't had a problem with them if I save it correctly. I can play them in preview mode and everything looks fine once it gets uploaded. I'm waiting on approvals now.

Bummer!!!
My husband is so bummed because two of the reviews we did I put them in categories myself based on the 10 dollar categories but they only paid 2. We did the Coppertone Continous Spray Suntan Lotion for kids, I put it under "baby and kids" and healthcare and they gave him 2.00 and put it under a different category. We also had a self cranking Flashlight made specifically for camping, I put it in "sports and outdoors" and "camping/hiking" and they moved it to a different 2.00 category and only gave him 2 for it. Now I'm panicking about other things I did like this. For example we reviewed the "tooth tunes" toothbrushes and I put them under healthcare under baby/kids, we reviewed children's nyquil and some other medications and I put them under baby/kids healthycare, I also reviewed other items like this. What has your luck been with doing this?
I am confused with the sports/outdoors category. I was going to do my husbands grill, etc. under "outdoors" to me that screams outdoors but I don't see where I would put it in the drop down menu, any ideas? Has anyone gotten paid for "outdoor" products that aren't specifically sport related?
It's getting tricky trying to come up with 200 items that specifically go under these categories. I'm up to 190.00 and have 54 unapproved ones so far that are pending, my DH is up to 62 pending, we're trying to get them all done this weekend but I don't want to get anymore in the 2.00 category.
We are "timandlesley" and "tsawhook" on there.
Thanks!
Lesley

If you think they have put things in the wrong category, e-mail them. It's worth a shot. They had put two of my scrapbooking items under home and gardens and I e-mailed them. They promptly sent me an e-mail apologizing and fixed both of them, thus getting the $8 bonus on both! :cheer2:

I'm finding that I am enjoying this more and more! I especially like making the travel destination reviews! I have two pending that I have added music to. I also did one on Big Pine Key that was fun to make. Windows Movie Maker is fun to play around with, but yes, please make sure you save them as a movie file and not project files-when I first started this, I had a couple of mine rejected because I saved them under project file and Expo wouldn't support that file type. I don't want any body's rejected!

Is anyone else having trouble this morning? Mine will not even start uploading and then eventially the page times out.

I'm trying so hard to get up to a 100 on both DH and I this weekend. I really don't think it'll happen. However, with Dean out there, I have to prepare myself to leave early next week if they shift the path eastward. As far as now, I think we're fine but I think they really need up until a couple of days until landfall to get a great idea about it. I lived just north of New Orleans during Katrina and it wasn't until 48 before landfall that they were saying New Orleans. Just 72 hours before landfall they were saying Florida, 60 hours before landfall they were saying Mobile. So I want to get them all in, but I know I must also prepare for the worse :scared: .

I will be thinking of you in the next few days and praying for the best for you. Hurricanes (especially one this large) can be so damaging and life altering. I am originally from Mobile and for some reason it seems a lot of hurricanes have been pulled that way over the years but they were lucky to avoid a direct hit from Katrina although it sure still did some major damage to that area too.

Grills fall under the Home and Garden cateogry. If you look under the subcateogry there is a drop down box. Only $2 :sad2:

THANK YOU! You seem to be in such a target area yourself. I remember a few years ago, 2004 I believe, it seemed like everytime your heard hurricane, Florida was in the same sentence. I don't remember any particular hits on St. Petersburg, but I remember TWC broadcasting from there so I'm sure it was close.

Oh, the damage from Katrina was so widespread. I do remember hearing that Mobile did get some damage, but it was hard for me to pay much attention to what was going on elsewhere when half your town was flooded out. The storm surge from Lake Ponthartrain stopped 1 block from my house. My house was just one of a handfull that didn't have a tree of some size land on it. We got a little water, but it was rain water, not the nasty lake water, and it quickly rushed out as soon as our fence blew down and the water had somewhere else to go! You couldn't buy food anywhere for a few weeks and then stores were closing early. You couldn't drink the water for quite some time. There was mold everywhere. I was pregnant at the time so I really had to be careful. It was such a tough time, but there were so many people so much worse off than me. At least I had a house and a job. At the time, I worked a bank over the few months after Katrina, I talked to so many people that lost everything. We took some pictures of our town and when I look at them, I still can't believe how devestating it was.

I had only lived there less than 2 years. People kept saying, "We're due for a big one!" and we got it. We just moved here 3 months ago and my neighbor said yesterday, "We're due for a big one" I'm like NOOOOOOOOOO!

Best of luck to everyone! We just have to keep a watchful eye. Remember, the path for Katrina just 3 days out showed it passing over southern Florida East to West then taking a turn and going back over northern Florida West to East. So everyone on the coast, please be careful!

Hi, thanks for the helpful advice. Unfortunately, those of us using Kodak Easy Share are finding out just how UNeasy Sharing with Kodak really is. ;) Kodak Easy Share is not compatible with Windows Movie Maker. I have tried one of the workarounds, but it didn't work for me. When I save my movies in UnEasy Share ;), I go to "save as" and it is saved as a "Video Files(*.mov)".... I heard there are converter programs. I am wondering if there are any converter programs that would enable us Easy Share users to move our videos into Window's Movie Maker. I have experience with photos, but this whole 'movies on your computer' is new to me. I would like to know what type of file my .mov files need to be in, in order to be placed into Window's Movie Maker. We have successfully unploaded 80 reviews directly to Expo through Easy Share, but had 29 rejections that were those uploaded on the last few qualifying days of the $5 reviews.

Of course now that we've been paid, it takes the sting out of it a bit. ;)

Another question.. so something like a new fridge is under a $2 category?

Take care all of you expo-ites that might be in the path of the hurricane. :grouphug:

Yes, everyone along the Gulf Coast keep an eye on it-hurricanes are VERY unpredictable.
