Help guys!
We got on the waitlist to buy some BCV points last week and I started browsing the boards, been away awhile. We want to add an extra 100+pts so we can get a 2bdr and a studio for the extended family every other year, plus take the the 3 of us in between. I've been reading the posts about SSR and am very interested. The new incentive might work out, especially since we like switching resorts.
But what incentive applies to my March use year? I mentioned this to DH last night (he's in Wyoming this week :cold: ) and he seemed receptive. He wants to put his spread sheets together tonight, so I need numbers. But, my guide is out of the office until next week and I've not heard back from his associate.
Thanks for any help.

If I am understanding your question, what applies to your March use year is a one time allotment of 100 points at your initial home resort. I am sure they would pop them into the 2005 year, not 2004 (heck - if you got closed before the end of the month, I would be amazed anyway).

The use year of your SSR points would be whatever they are currently selling. (although I have seen some people mention that a bit of work on your part might convince them for a different UY if it is available)

This is based upon what I have read here:

The current incentive is that you receive a one-time bonus of 100 points at your primary Home resort if you add-on 120 or more at SSR. Under normal circumstances, the add-on points would be issued under your current March Use Year. If you add-on 150+ you normally can opt make it a new contract and pick any UY available, but I don't know how that factors into this promotion. For simplicity sake, you're best sticking with your current UY.

The net price for the add-on would be $87 (current price of $95 less $8 discount) per point, and you'd receive your 2005 points immediately (as well as the 100 bonus). There are also no dues on the add-on until 2006.

These numbers look what I thought I was reading.
Now if my guide's "associate" will call me back, DH (and me) will be happy. :flower:

I just finished a Feb. UY, 120 points, and the deal goes like this:

The above quote is correct.
Corrected 3/21...

I have feb.uy and was told the 100pts are 2005 pts and would come under normal banking rules. That being 100% banking by july. Same as the 120 add-on.Should have the papers Mon.to sign. But was told the same thing buy two guides mine was out of town when i first called. And I payed 87 per pt. That I can tell by the deposit I put down. What tjkraz said looks right to me.

The no dues until 2006 is no big deal because you won't close on your new 120 pts until August or September and most of the 2005 points will need to be banked or used very quickly. You won't be able to use your points until you close either, so that is way the no due isn't a big deal.

Not true. With an add-on, the new points are available immediately. My guide told me the 100 bonus point go into your account right away, and the 120 would be in within a few days or receiving the deposit. So, with a Feb UY, I have 4 months (till July 31) to use or bank my new points.

This suprised me too, but my guide insisted that was the way it's done.

This is true, but for the $87 per point deal, your 120 points add on does not take effect until 2006.

Corrected 3/21...tjhsr is correct. I was mis-informed.

I was told wed.my 120pts would be in my acct. in 24to48hrs for 2005 to use.I gave them the balance of the 20% down over the phone.Would take 5 days for the 100pts to show up.I will know for sure on Mon.when I call MS to change my oct. trip so we can add a day and go with a 1br for 8 nights. :goodvibes

Hi guys,
My guides assosciate called me and he said I would be getting the 120 pts for 2005, no dues, $87pt. 100 bonus points. Normal banking rules apply. Will be paying dues for the March, 2006 pts. :teeth: Was told I could use the pts. for my July trip.

For existing members, I don't believe your comments about the August / September closing are accurate. My understanding is they have points immediately available for all Use Years as add-ons, and closing should occur within the normal 30-60 day timeframe.

But regardless of what you actually do wtih the points, under normal circumstances owners are responsible for dues on the points from the date of closing forward. If I were to add-on to my February Use Year now, I'd probably close sometime in May. That would make me responsible for 7 or 8 months worth of dues prorated for 2005. Not paying those dues represents a savings of about $2.50 - 3.00 per point.

Great deal tjhsr!!!
If this is true for the $8 discount, then what does the $5 discount get you?

This is correct. I have already mailed my add-on contract back and my closing will be in May 2005 for a Sept 2004 UY contract. I can use my points immediately.

From some of the comments I have read, paying for dues monthly has thrown people off on how dues are paid. Dues are paid yearly in January. It doesnt matter what month you get your points, you have a year to use them. You are paying dues for that yearly allotment of points, not how many months til the end of the year. I know DVC pro rates dues, but that is only because they were in DVC's inventory and not the members.

ok- i think i get the bonus point idea, but question- if i buy a sold out resort from disney---for 89 a point, would i get the points for 04 and 05 and just not the 100 bonus points?

PLEASE...send me the name of your guide. I will cancel my contract and start over with your guide to get the same deal I got for $3 per point less!!

All DVC Guides offer the same deals. The exact amount of the discount will vary depending upon Use Year. People that are still in their 2004 Use Year will get points for '04 along with a $5 discount. Members that are already in their '05 Use Year don't get any '04 points, and therefore get a slightly higher discount of $8 off.

Depends on the Use Year. If you currently have a February or March UY, you are already into your '05 year. 2004 points have expired and are not available.

Later Use Years (with the likely exception of April) should get 2004 points as well.

Anyone have an idea how long this incentive will be going on?
