Another reason why I don't like Oprah anymore(warning -a vent)

I can't believe anyone cares whether Oprah is conceited or not. Do you have any idea what kind of absolute JERKS most....and I mean *most*....celebrities have to be? They live in their own little sheltered, priveleged worlds and they are so happy that they are not US. Don't kid yourself. You may think some are "nice," but those are just the ones who know better how to brand themselves. Those are...surprise, surprise....the better actors.

I'm not defending Oprah. Well maybe I am. But I am just keeping it in perspective. There are a bunch of actors, bands, etc. that I love. But it is because I love their brand of entertaiment, not because I believe they are just swell folks. They are entertainers, not my friends. For me, this is how I see Oprah.

Great example for me....Simon Cowell. I think he's a hoot. He *entertains* me. Do I want to be his buddy? NO!

So hate Oprah because she's not entertaining, not because she's stuck up. All famous people.....especially those who have been famous for a long time....are stuck up. Some just hide it better than others! She doesn't hide it well at all.

Simon Cowell, imo, presents himself as his true self. I don't think Oprah does.

I guess it is how you define celebrity. There are a lot of actors who lead very normal, low profile lives. You see them on tv every week and in tons of movies, but there are not the ones that would come to mind because they don't seek the spotlight. To them, acting is a job. They do their job and then go home to their families. The ones that you see all the time on shows like Access Hollywood and TMZ are the oddballs.

Well I tend to disagree but that is ok, and yes there are alot who stay out of the spotlight, that doesn't mean that they aren't screwed up. I have heard way too many actors and musicians talk about how "normal people" usually don't get mixed up in the entertainment field.

I get what you're saying, and don't get me wrong I don't hate her but I definitely see a BIG change in her personality. It's become very clear that she is used to people fawning all over her and she now expects/demands it. With that attitude "afterall I'm OPRAH" way about her. It just gets on my nerves. She used to be humble about her past and the way she worked her way up. Very admirable. But now she acts like she really believes she's better than ordinary people and actually celebs too- and it shows.

I don't think Oprah can act "normal" she is just not what we see as "normal".

I quit watching Oprah & Dr Phil long ago; couldn't take watching the types of people they had on.

However, I did watch yesterday to see MP (& today to see Barbra). I felt so bad for her, what she went through as a child & young adult.

Now MP's stepmom is saying this is all wrong. She's entitled to her opinion but I don't agree. Maybe she was so strung out herself she didn't realize what was going on.

I can't remember if MP said she'd told anyone else at the time. What really bothers me is, when a child says someone touched them wrong, BELIEVE THE CHILD!!!!!!!!!! Some moms of sexually abused children choose to believe the man because they don't want to lose him. WRONG!!! Believe your child! Get the pedophile OUT OF THE HOUSE & keep your child safe!!

OK, rant over. I wish Mackenzie all the best & hope writing the book helped heal her. I also hope she'll be able to stay clean.

I don't watch Oprah. I had an opportunity to go to a taping. No way was I getting up that early..... I just don't watch the talk shows. (I guess, that's what they're called)
