Another reason not to take naked "selfies" - UPDATED

I feel bad for the TA, but she will live this down. The pictures will live in infamy since nothing ever disappears from the web, but heck... there are even nude photos of Betty White (a much YOUNGER Betty White), and everybody loves her.

Was she confused about what "TA" actually meant? Because there was T and there was A.

Should it not have read "I attached" not "I attach" in her email?

Not necessarily she used "in" further in the sentence after the number. I, would have used attached, or some form of, however.

I wonder what the school can actually do in this situation? It's a horrible mistake, but it was an accident. The photos weren't sent to (underage) children and as far as I know she wasn't doing anything illegal in the photos. It was a terrible mistake, one that she surely will not live down anytime soon. But I don't see any reason to punish her for it, if that's what they're looking into.

Just absolute stupidity in my opinion. I'd NEVER in a million years think of taking a pic of my wife and I naked....... That's something I can witness in person and it doesn't need to be shared with anybody else, period. It also hurts when you're technologically challenged. (In this day and age, how can someone her age BE technologically challenged like that? My 70 year old FIL builds and programs his own computers for darn sake)

UPDATE:

University of Iowa Teaching Assistant Who Sent Nude Photos No Longer With Class

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — A University of Iowa teaching assistant who accidentally emailed nude pictures of herself to math students is no longer assigned to their class.

University spokesman Tom Moore confirmed the assignment change for the graduate student late Wednesday, but didn't immediately elaborate.

The woman included the pictures as attachments on an email she sent Tuesday night to 28 students in a pre-calculus class for business students. She was apparently trying to attach the solutions to homework problems instead.

She has told university officials she regrets her mistake, and Moore called the incident unfortunate for all involved. The mixup became public after students in the class took to social media to describe what happened. The story soon went viral.

The university isn't identifying the teaching assistant, citing federal privacy laws.

Yes, I agree that if there is anything in her favor, it is that this was sent to college students, who are presumably all over 18, and not children.

A lot of us can actually empathize - how many of us have sent out an e-mail with the wrong attachment? I know I have, but not, thankfully, of nude pictures of myself. :scared:

I really hope the TA manages to stay anonymous, and hopefully, with time, this will go away and not ruin her life. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, and not in any way malicious. I do feel sorry for her.

It is to her students credit that her name and the photos are not all over the internet at this point. For her sake, I hope it stays that way.

What did they say?

No real outrage.

  • Most of them thought everyone should have learned by now not to take naked pictures.
  • The students were of age not young children
  • They wondered what would have happened if it was a male teacher that had sent the pictures

  • Most of them thought everyone should have learned by now not to take naked pictures.

:confused3

I thought making porn was still quite a lucrative and/or opportunities-making endeavor in this country? She'll get fifteen or more minutes of fame, plus who knows how many offers for who knows what all out of her little "faux pas."

Regardless, I thought we were supposed to do away with such prudishness and be all for sexual liberation and self expression? If a person of age (the law for now) wants to send naked pics to other people of age (the law for now) who am I to say otherwise? Follow your bliss or libido or whatever - I'm no bigoted nudiephobe.

At any rate, kudos to this woman for thinking outside the box and making math a more pleasurable experience for students who might not find it so otherwise. It would have been a hoot to get naked pics of my miserable grouch of a math teacher in my snailbox (no email back then). She'd have lost her job due to nudiephobia, of course. Oh, yeah. It would have been a real hoot for sure.

This is where I live and the sad thing is the pictures were not just of her, but included her boyfriend and all his glory. She has been removed from working with students but remains working as a graduate student in a ta position. She showed up the next morning ready to teach which I thought was pretty impressive
