so how many tickets do they sell for it to be a sell out? 15,000??? more? less? i doubt less but just wondering if its more or less then an average attendance day?
Most estimates in recent years have the number between 25K and 35K. It is much less than park capacity, and likely less than an "average attendance day".
I was reading the military rules last night and it seems like military tickets never "sell out"...i.e., they continue to sell military tickets even when a party sells out to the general public.

yes that is supposed to be the case (except for Halloween), as you have to buy the discount tix in person on WDW property. (and very nice that they extend the benefit for even the non discount dates in Oct). So we're driving 10+ hours, 2 nights in hotel etc without actually having any tickets. Nervewracking! Just curious if anyone has actually done the process, as several times we have run into headaches with the ever changing rules/uninformed cast members over the regular Military salute park tickets over the years. All the sources seem to be non actual Disney, though it does seem you have to wait until the day of the sold out party...
There's a specific procedure on CMs' ticketing documentation for selling military tickets to sold-out parties. I don't know it off the top of my head because I've never had to do it, but I can assure you that it's easy on the guest side.

thank you for the reassurance! I'm in charge of this crazy plan, and want things to be as smooth as possible for my skeptical husband and sister (the military members) and of course the kids!

I know it's easy to say but hard to do, but just have faith. Remember that you know the "right" answer and if you happen to get an uninformed CM, just say thanks but no thanks and go to another window and work with someone else.

We are going to the party on Friday, the 25th, and saw that it is also sold out already! So glad I didn't decide to wait to buy tickets until we got there!
I've read that the max capacity is 100K. The annual attendance at the MK is around 20 million, so that would make the daily attendance around 55K. If what I was told by the CM is true (they sell 20% of the capacity for parties), then a sold out party would have 20K people.

I would certainly want to buy them at the first available chance when you arrive for your vacation. But one reason they allow for military on sold out nights is that they don't sell the military discounted party tickets except in person.
wow bc it feels way more packed then 2pm in august i guess that is bc everyone is at main street if you stay away from there it does not feel that bad....have they done a good job kicking people out with out a ticket?
