Less than 100 days until the cruise!

Great to see we're under 100 days!!

I was wondering - are the candy exchange and recipe exchange done in person at a meet and greet or are they done in a similar style to fish extender gifts?

Also will there be a disboard meet up at the start of the cruise? This is DBF and mines first Disney cruise and we are excited to make some new (Disney) friends

I think both the candy and recipe exchanges are being done like the FE exchange. I'll double-check with the organizers and let you know if they're not. We'll probably do a general meet-up between boarding and the sail-away party, in the Promenade Lounge, so we can distribute lanyards to those who bought them and to just say hello.

I remember for our first cruise, I hadn't discovered the Dis and had to learn a lot on my own. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. We're a pretty relaxed bunch, and we were all "newbies" at one time, so we don't mind answering questions.

I think last year we did 4:30 in the promenade lounge to meet for lanyards etc. It works well.

Do you remember what time the sail away party was? I know on the 2011 it was quite a while before we actually sailed away. We didn't leave Barca til almost 9pm. I thought it was around 4, but I don't remember that well. We'll have to check with the lanyard ladies and see when they want to do it.

The meet was before sailaway on last years which I think started at 4:45. I'll check the navigators now.

Update - I found the Dis navigator for the last one and we did the meet at 3pm in Promenade Lounge and then the Sailaway party started at 4:30pm after the lifeboat drill at 4. And then there was a second distribution then next day for those that couldn't make the first. Hopefully the lovely lanyard/pin ladies will do something similar as I think this worked well

Hi everyone, we are seriously thinking about booking this (I have dangled the carrot in front of the donkey (DH)). This would be our 4th cruise with Disney and 3rd WBTA. If we do we will be staying in Miami for a couple of extra nights, can anybody recommend a good hotel near the beach and shops? Fingers crossed everyone that we will be joining you all.

Oh I do want to join and so does Dan really. He did actually tell me to book the other day but there is no deposit option because of the PIF. A little bit more saving and hopefully we are good to go. Really need the break as we are renovating the house and it has been a living nightmare.

Wow there seems like so much to remember to do on embarkation day! I bet we will sleep well that first night


I do have another question - we are going to drive from Miami to WDW after the cruise, any tips on best place to rent a car? Will any of the companies pick us up from the port?

We are from the UK and have never driven in the US before - I'm pretty nervous about driving on the right!

We have been on the 2011 and 2014. The 2014 was my daughters first cruise and she loved it, she is Mickey mad.

we probably passed by each other lol I spent a lot of time in kids clubs last year doing all the open house activities - I am very sad!

Did you get your avengers id? We did, I thought it was good that the big kids could share the experience with the little kids.

NO!!! OMG how did I miss this one? I become Iron Man which was fun. I can't believe I missed this! It will have to go on my list for this year

Well we only found it out by chance. A lady got in the lift and she had one and told us how she got it. Luckily for us they was doing one more session to become a official avenger in the kids club and it was an open house. The lady got hers in the adults only session. They are really good proper id badges with your picture on it and signed by Nick Furey. My daughter missed out on one so next time she will get hers and I might get a new one because I look terrible on my picture.

OK it sounds fantastic! Can you remember what it was called on the navigator? Have to admit I did do some odd kids activities (including Aladdins adventure where I was the only person to turn up! I think the kids club staff were bored as they wouldn't let me escape and give them a free hour I had to join in on my own like a nutter)

I can't for the life of me think what it was called. I also went to a story telling activity and Princess Tiana told the story, I was with my daughter but she lost interest and went off playing and I carried on listening to her. That was good, got to make a special leaf bookmark. I have got to admit I did a lot more activities last year than the previous ones. I was very impressed with myself.
