Another MAGICal Adventure - WBTA 2015

Hi Julie, we live in Blyth (sunny Blyth by the sea) my DW Trisha says. I don't know if we were on the same Jeep as Trish and I were not able to sit together and she was not happy with being stuck on the end seat as she is not good with heights and I was looking over to keep an eye on her. We will have been married 40 years this August, I work at OGN at Wallsend as a rigger and Trisha is SAH Grandma and looks after our 3 granddaughters in the school holidays . Sorry about the long reply but as I said earlier I don't post a lot so when I do I some times go on :)

I think it must have been another couple from Northumberland in the jeep I was in. They had their daughter with them and she was about 16. It will be good to meet you :)

I booked and paid deposit. So I'm in.
I go alone this time and that's a little bit strange.
I have booked a 11b on deck 6 cabin 6137.

Hope I can manage it with my vacation days, because I am also doing the EBTA in 2015. (I have 5 weeks each year, so it just manageable)

And Julie, I do also the WBTA2014.

So 3 cruises booked. And this will be my first as a golden CC member.

Hi Liesbeth, I remember you and your son from the 2011 WBTA. We were all in Sessions one night. I cruise on my own, the 2014 WBTA will be my third cruise and I've been solo on all of them. The 2010 was my first solo holiday, as I was widowed 6 months earlier. It sure did feel very very odd, but knowing lots of people on board really does help. I look forward to seeing you onboard this September :)

Hi, I am Andrea and I will be taking this MAGICal trip with my DH Andrew. It is sort of a 25th wedding anniversary celebration even though our anniversary isn't until June 2016. I have been wanting to do a TA for so long and have finally been able to talk my husband into it! Yay!

I am 44 but will be 46 by the time we sail-yikes! And DH will be 45. We have 6 kids (no wonder I need this!) and we live in Red Wing, Minnesota. Our town is famous for Red Wing Pottery and Red Wing Boots.

We booked our airfare through Disney as it looked very reasonable, but we'd like to tour for a couple of days first. Does anyone know how that works with Disney? Do we have to call them and tell them so they know when to book our tickets?

I am sure I'll have oodles of questions but I must say that the person who started this board is super organized so I may get them answered by just reading. Love that!

Welcome aboard! We did the 2011 WBTA as my "landmark" birthday present. I had always wanted to do a TA and it was a great trip!

I can't help you with the airfare question. I always book ours separately from the cruise. But I'm sure someone else will come along who can help. I would think calling DCL and telling them what you want to do would be a good way to start, though.

Hi,
Thank you for the welcome! :) I was recently reading a Disney cruise guide and it said that lost luggage is common when flying to Europe. Knowing that some you have done TAs before, have you ever had this problem? Are some airlines more reliable than others?

Thanks,
Vicki

Having flown across the Atlantic many times since 1980, most recently two or three times a year I can honestly say I have NEVER loss bags on a trip from and returning to Europe.
And for those who are wondering, yes we do have ATM,s and flushing toilets in all parts of Europe.

See you all on the cruise.

Dave and Jane

I figure if I set up the thread, Dennis has to agree to the cruise!

LOL love your thinking! :rotfl2: So with that in mind can I say a big HELLO :wave2: and I'd like to join this thread if I may.

We will be a family of 4 travelling - me, DH, DS (4) and DD (1). We were booked on this year's EBTA but had to cancel when we found out I was pregnant so now I'm trying to persuade DH that we neeeeeeeeeed to book this one!

Welcome! Book it now, before the prices go up again. ::yes:: You have til next May to convince him or cancel. :scratchin

We were booked on the WBTA for this year, but had to cancel for a variety of reasons. We're booked on both TAs next year. I really milked the "well, we had to cancel this year's" excuse. ;)

Joining for now. We are Americans living in Dublin, Ireland and this will be our third Disney cruise. Myself, husband and will be 3 girls (one of which is due in September).

Probably will opt of the FE this go though. :)

Yes we are going to email our American TA tonight to book this cruise, we have a dummy cruise which we booked last year on our Magic in the Med cruise so we will swap it for this one, although I think I read somewhere that the discount given for booking on board is only valid for 18 months. Anyone know if this is true??

We were booked on the EBTA for this year but had to cancel when we found out I was pregnant so I'm also using the "well, we had to cancel this year's" as well :rotfl:

As we sailed very recently from Barcelona I'd be happy to help if I can with questions people might have about this port. We are also frequent visitors to Disneyland Paris so might be able to answer questions if anyone plans to stop off there before Barcelona.

Welcome aboard! I'm in charge of the FE, if you have any questions about it. I'm going to advocate for keeping it simple, with everyone having to make transatlantic flight arrangements one way or the other. I don't think too many of us have the extra space (or the budget) for anything elaborate.

So, we are thinking about this cruise.....a lot

So, we are thinking about this cruise.....a lot

We are 2 adults, DD16, DD 10 & DS 8 at the time of the trip. I know we will need a deluxe family ocean view cabin, they look fabulous, but I haven't been able to find any pics of the cabin in ready to sleep mode, ie with the bunks pulled down, so not sure how sleeping 5 works . Would just like to evaluate sleeping arrangements to be sure we wouldn't be cramped. Anyone had an experience of these cabins with similar aged family?

Hi and welcome :wave2:
We have never been on a transatlantic cruise before either and it does sound like it will be a lot of fun!:thumbsup2: We have children that will be close to the ages of yours on this cruise. Our DD will be 17, other DD will be 11 and our DS will be 8 also, so if you do decide to go on this cruise maybe our kids could write each other before hand so that they will know each other when they go on this cruise. My DD plans to start a kids/teen thread so maybe they could chat there or exchange e-mails. Where are you from? We are from SW Wisconsin. We have 6 kids, so there are 8 of us all together, so we have 2 connecting porthole rooms. We are also hoping to spend a few days in Barcelona/ southern France before we cruise. We have never been to Europe before so are kind of excited to visit.:) Vicki

How funny my oldest DD asked this morning if there was any way of meeting people beforehand! We are from the UK, have been to WDW 8 trips now, and have always hoped to be able to do a TA. This is the first time it's been financially viable as our DD 17 no longer wants to come on holiday with mum & dad

:welcome: to all the new cruisers :cheer2::cheer2:

Great to see lots of people booking on with plenty of time to get to know each other and we will start to think about organising some activities to get your names down for soon enough.

Hi and thanks for the response.:thumbsup2 Glad to hear that you have flown across the Atlantic numerous times and have never had a problem. We have never been to Europe before and have mainly just flown in the US. I had read that somewhere about the lost luggage and I am glad to hear that it shouldn't be a problem. Have you ever flown with Norwegian airlines before? We are probably going to be flying to Europe on this airline. Looking forward to visiting Europe when we go there.

Roll Call Update
[/size]

I've just updated the roll call, so it's current as of today. Please check the list on Page 1, Post #1 to see if you've signed up and if your info is correct. I'm not listing last names or cabin numbers yet. There's likely to be some switching around, so I figured that could wait til we're closer to sailing. If you haven't filled out the form, please do so at your convenience. The link is on Page 1, in Post #1. Thanks!

Would you like that added to Page 1, or would you rather post or pm it as people join the page? I'm always a bit leery of posting "kids only" stuff right where everyone looks. Although if anyone "dodgy" shows up, we can deal with it.

Just to be safe, we can leave it off the first page. We can periodically post it on this thread as others with kids join our cruise. :)

Thanks, Vicki
