I often take crescent rolls and stuff them with ham and cheese, pepperoni and cheese, or chicken, bar-b-q sauce, and cheese and bake. Is there anyway I can do the above and then freeze before baking? Or, should I bake and then freeze?

I'm asking because I befriended a substitute that works often in the building I teach in and she is having a baby in December. She and her DH live away from all their friends/family as he is a resident at a local hospital. I'd like to make her a few different meals that freeze well for her to keep on hand for when the baby arrives. I make the above often as my kids love it and I remember one time when talking about it at work she commented on how good it sounded. I thought about making it for her but I wasn't sure if the crescent rolls would freeze well. :confused3

TIA!

Check the can, but I am think you can't freeze than bake.

I would bake than freeze. Maybe even leave alittle under done

She's not having the baby until December so why don't you make a batch for your family, freeze them, and then try them in a couple of weeks and then you can see for yourself how well they freeze.

What a nice friend you are!

Definitely bake then freeze. I make something that sounds like that and they freeze and reheat well. You should try a sample batch of your recipe and see how they turn out.

freezing the unbaked dough is not a good idea. The leavening in it will not work and you will wind up with a flat product. You can parbake (undercook) it and then freeze. Good luck to you, what a nice thing to do for your friend.

bake and freeze-i make nutella cresents-bake them and freeze them and then just zap them in the microwave or just run them in the oven long enough to warm them up. should work the same way-bake, cool and freeze then she can just run them in the oven to warm them when she needs to. Your an awesome friend.

Thanks so much for all the help. I'll bake then freeze.

I'm just a friend helping another friend. I know when I had my twins my parents, friends and church family prepared meals for me and I appreciated it so much. I can't imagine having a baby and having no family around. I just want to pay-it-forward and help her with her meals like I was helped. :)

Casseroles also make good freezer meals

Soups and stews also freeze well. I freeze mine in jars and then heat them up, by microwaving, boiling on the stove, or putting it in the oven. Doesn't matter the method, it all turns out the same. Although boiling the jar seems to warm it thoroughly and better than the microwave.

As someone who is newly pregnant and has all of my family across the country, I just wanted to say how nice I think it is that you are doing this! I am sure the family will really appreciate it!

I froze some after baking them. Mine had chicken, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and dried ranch dressing. They reheated nicely.
