ANOTHER Adventure in Autism (4/15) A Taste of What's to Come...

Love the pins!
How do you keep them from falling off your lanyards?

Thanks! They sell "locking" pin backs that are much sturdier! :thumbsup2

BTW, even with the standard pin backs, I've never lost a pin off of a lanyard. Once I tried to put some pins on the strap of my backpack and I did lose one on Soarin'. It must have come off when I stashed my pack under the seat. Anyway, Ed went back for it and luckily one of the CMs had already found it.

The locking pin backs are a good investment; they come in a pack of twelve for about $8.50.

A word of caution... Some of those "professional pin traders" at the DTD pin store treat pin trading as more of a business then just trading pins with fellow guests....

I pretty much avoid them and would never let Tricia try to trade with them.... they do seem a bit vulture-like! But I suppose if you are looking for a special pin because you are seriously collecting, it might be worth a look-see.

The great thing about pin-trading is that, as a guest, there is no requirement to trade, just because you are wearing a lanyard. I've been asked several times, but traded only once and that was because I was approached by a little boy who was so cute (and so very serious) about the trade that I just couldn't disappoint him! He finished trading, turned, and held the pin up high in the air shouting, "I got it! I got it!!" :) It was too funny!

Makes sense, this is my first time with a lanyard rather than just sticking them on my hat or bag, so I was wondering.

I LOVE the pin installment!! I have been getting some pics together to wear in the parks this time around. I have toyed with the ide for a few years now, but I have never worked up the nreve to actually trade- hopefully this will be the year. I also really like your strategy of having a "theme" to go for each trip. I mean all the pins are so wonderful, I would never be able to pick. I really like Donald pins and the pins themed after Disney rides or attractions, so maybe that will be my theme. I also relaly love the ones with hidden Mickeys in them. Wow, I am racking up a lot fo themes here :rotfl:

Well, thanks for the pin inspiration- now hopefully I will get out there and trade for myself :woohoo:

***Must not buy pins, must not buy lanyards, not reading Kathy's pin comments.....******;)

WOW Kathy and Tricia! I absolutely love your pin collections! We are new to pins (bought a few back in our Jan 2006 trip) but are planning on some pin trading on our upcoming November trip!

My DD (4) is a little apprehensive because she loves all her pins and doesn't want to trade, so I went to mousepinsonline and bought a grab bag of pins figuring we would get some that they wouldn't mind "trading". I still don't think she gets it though! :cutie:

"You can trade this one (that you don't really care for) for another one that you really love!" I say, and her brother adds "yeah, and it's free!" So cute!

Unfortunately when the grab bag pins came, we liked most of them! Ugh!

Anyways, love your report and your family is precious!

Kathy,
Glad to hear that the little man is doing well, hope you can get an appointment before you leave, I am sure it would help put your mind at ease a bit.

We are keeping you all in our thoughts and wishing you the best :grouphug:

Now as for PINS

Hi, I'm Kathy I'm A Pinoholic....

Hi Kathy

:rotfl:

Those are some nice collections, It's nice that you can blame Ed for this, I didn't know he collected too.

Wish you lots of luck in your trading on the up coming trip.

As mentioned above watch out for "Pin Sharks"

Who'sYourMickey: Oooh, I've spilled water in my bag before... Not Pretty!! :sad2:

Marion: Hey! Are you home yet? :confused3

mrsksomeday: You got Bill to join the DIS!! Mwaah Ha Ha Ha!!

dismom9761: Thanks for the prayers! You're right; you can never have enough!

LTP & MDF: Ha! You're not reading this... you're in DISNEY!!

jcc0621: Tried again today for that appointment; no luck. Keep your fingers crossed!

Plantlady: :welcome: And thanks for the reassurance!

Halloweenqueen: Oh goody! Can't wait! :woohoo:

Goofster: He started it!! I was a good girl and resisted until he bought those first pins, so technically, it's all his fault!! (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.)

Mom2MEK: Aww! Your DD sounds precious! Perhaps when she's a bit older she'll enjoy it more!

jordanyosh: :wizard: Look closely at the swaying lanyard full of pins! You are getting very sleepy! Yes, very sleepy....

Thanks again, everybody, for reading and posting (and praying!)

Kathy

WTG to Ed for enabling your Disney addictions:thumbsup2

I can't believe those pin traders outside o the pin traders. I always avoid them.....It's so sad, especially when they try this with the little ones:sad2:

That was so sweet of Ed to realize how badly you wanted pins.

Love both of your collections, esoecially the ones of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The locking pin backs are great!:thumbsup2

“Honey, I thought we weren’t going to get started on pins…” I began.

“I know, I know,” he said slyly. “You’ve been saying that over and over, but the two of you have been drooling over pins all week, so I decided to just go ahead and get you some.” He smiled triumphantly. “You know you want them!”

Oh, I hate it when he’s right.

Kathy you have yourself a fine, fine man there. He is very observant and does things to make you happy. Also, he takes you to WDW, great guy :thumbsup2.

"Ta-Da!!"

Princesses: These are the princesses (and one villian, Malifiecent). I'm trying to get all the princesses in three stages of dress: their "rags", their princess dresses, and their wedding dresses.

IMGP1289.jpg

Love the Princess pins Tricia. I am happy to see you posting on the report :yay:. The idea to get them in all their outfits is great!!

Minnie: I love when Minnie gets dressed up in costume. She always looks sooo pretty!

IMGP1291.jpg

These pins are wonderful. The ones with Minnie wearing the princess dresses are priceless. I shouldn't have looked at these, Bill might not be the only one ending up with a Pin Addiction .

Cuties: These are my Cuties! Which one do you think is the cutest? Minnie? Eeyore? My favorite is Pooh!

IMGP1292.jpg

I have never seen these before, thanks for showing us. Do I have to pick just one favorite?? If I have to pick just one I would say Tigger, but I really do like the Pooh one too.

Aunt Rae gave me Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for this trip. I  them!!

IMGP1293.jpg

Aww, from reading your mom's previous trip reports we know how wonderful Aunt Rae is, those pins are amazing. Can you get a lot of sets like that??

This one is awesome! It's Minnie with magnetic dress up clothes (like a paper doll.)

IMGP1297.jpg

Do they have others with the magnets?? You and your mom are really educating me with the pins, thank you so much!

I especially like Holiday Pins...

IMGP1317.jpg

I wear "Nurse Minnie" on my uniform every day when at work, and holiday pins around each holiday.

IMGP1315.jpg

I LOVE THOSE, the nurse one is so cute.

I almost forgot to tell you about my plush princess dolls; I'm collecting them too!! All I need is Ariel and Snow White and the collection is complete! Yay!

IMGP1318.jpg

These are adorable. My son's g/f's little girl would love them. Where can you get them??

Kathy, I always love your updates. I finally got Bill DISing, can you believe it?? He posted to your trip report before he did mine?? I see who is more important :rotfl:. I can't believe Ed is reading our pre-trippie, why did you let him?? No he will see how utterly silly Bill and I are and not want to meet us:scared1: .

Have a great week and I will be waiting for another update popcorn::.

Kathy, you may find this hard to belive, but until today, we had NEVER purchased a single "pin".

That all changed today at Mouse Gears when we purchased our first set of four. We've got a bet with Blue and if we lose, we have to send her a pin so that's why we started.

Now we need advice on trading. How do you initiate a trade with a cast member? Just ask?

Goof, your the Pin-Master, let us know what to do.

I'm so glad to hear things are better Kathy

Still a big worry just the same waiting for the appointment and all that :guilty:

HEY!!! I love the pin collection - especially the princess set :thumbsup2

What great friends you have to give you all those pins :goodvibes :wizard:

Yes, you just go up and ask to look at their pins and if you see one you like, you trade it. Pretty simple and a lot of fun...beware - it's addictive ;)

HEY! I remember a certain Gatster shaking his head at my 3-pin collection before we left on our trip this summer and now you admit that you didn't even have a collection at all :headache:

BUSTED :rolleyes1

Kathy,
I love all your pins! We resisted the pins at first also for all the same reasons.....but then bought the ones that are "special" to us and make a lanyard to commemorate each trip. We purchase a pin for the resort we stay in, our favorite or "memorable" rides, a favorite meals and so on. This year, our son (10) actually purchased all of his own favorites and his lanyard hangs in his room. It's so much fun to look at the pins and be transportated back to our vacation if only for a few minutes. :)

That’s all there is too it.

Look for Cast Members with green or teal lanyards, this are “Kids Only” trading lanyards, they only trade with Kids I think it is 10 years old or younger.
