Annual Passholder questions

I don't see a forum dedicated to passholders, so I am posting here. We are 7 adults, taking a trip in Dec. 2017. We will want 8 days in the parks. I have a couple of questions for those experienced with this.

1) I am considering getting one annual pass, just for me, so I can purchased the Tables In Wonderland card. It will work for all at my table, not just the passholder--correct??

2) We will want to book 4 rooms, probably at POP. Can one passholder book 4 rooms at the passholder discount price, even if the people in the rooms are not passholders?

3) Do I have to actually buy the annual pass in order to book the rooms at a discount, or do I just have to have it at check in?

4) If I do have to buy it first, will it become active when I book the discounted rooms, or will the one year start on the first day I enter a park?

5) I know I had other questions, but I can't think of them now! If anyone has done this, can you tell me if is worked out for you financially? The different between an 8 day park hopper that the rest of my party would have, and the annual plus the cost of Tables in Wonderland is about. $548. So basically, I would have to save $548 or more with the TIW card on 7 adults big eaters in 8 days.

I am not sure about all your questions but I know that you will always have to pay for the meals. Only the cardholder gets the discount so you will have to be at all the meals and everyone will have to eat together (on TIW). I have also seen warnings on the boards about not letting Disney see you get reimbursed by your friends at the table.

1) you can use it for everyone, but the AP holder has to pay for everyone. The name of the AP holder has to be on the card.

3) have it at checking. You don't need the AP right at the time of booking

4)AP year starts the first day you enter the park

As far as I know TiW is good for up to 10 guests. I let mine lapse after the price increase last year and don't know if that's changed.

I think you need to purchase a pass in order to access the passholder area of the website.

4) If I do have to buy it first, will it become active when I book the discounted rooms, or will the one year start on the first day I enter a park?

One year from the date of first use

A lot of this sounds like how we travel (and I'm stuck in a standstill line at ToT) so I'll give it a shot :)

1) I am considering getting one annual pass, just for me, so I can purchased the Tables In Wonderland card. It will work for all at my table, not just the passholder--correct??

Yes... as long as you're on the same check. It has to be paid for by the TiW holder. We are a group of adults who travel together frequently, so we circumvent this by paying for everything with gift cards (we rotate who's paying) and we use a bill splitting app to keep track of everything. (Pro tip - if you go with the automatic gratuity, it's menu price x 1.032 to get to what each party member owes.)

2) We will want to book 4 rooms, probably at POP. Can one passholder book 4 rooms at the passholder discount price, even if the people in the rooms are not passholders?

I think (but I'm not certain) it's two per room. But... GA discounts are often better, and if AP beats it, it's not by much.

3) Do I have to actually buy the annual pass in order to book the rooms at a discount, or do I just have to have it at check in?

Just at checkin. You can either get the voucher & book via website, or book by phone and get the AP on arrival. (This allows you to get an undercover tourist or similar discount tix & upgrade.)

4) If I do have to buy it first, will it become active when I book the discounted rooms, or will the one year start on the first day I enter a park?

Upon entry.

5) I know I had other questions, but I can't think of them now! If anyone has done this, can you tell me if is worked out for you financially? The different between an 8 day park hopper that the rest of my party would have, and the annual plus the cost of Tables in Wonderland is about. $548. For us, it works out. Three single adults (sometimes we bring friends w regular tix or who live in the area,) separate finances, one TiW card for the group. We come appx every 6-8wks for anywhere from a 3 day weekend to an 8-9 day trip.

For you, an add'l $500 cost means you'd need to spend appx $2500 on TS. That breaks out to $44/person, per day - it's a gamble. Will you eat a TS every day? Are they priced like Yachtsman... or Plaza?

If you'll be returning within a year, IMO it's a no brainer. If you'll buy a lot of merch, that adds up, too. (You're onsite, so parking doesn't factor in, right?)

You can also wait to see what room discounts come out and then decide.

Hope that helps!

I can feel the AC from ToT lobby, so gotta go... ;)

The one year AP expiration starts when the AP is activated. For most people, that's the same day you first enter the park, but not always.
