I can't believe how rusty I've gotten. Started as a super planner & now I can't figure out/remember the deal on DVC discount for annual passes. We let our lapse & so I don't think we qualify for a renewal. Do we still get $100 off the annaul pass price for a new purchase? Also, I loved DDE & want to re-join based on our new passes, but do I have to have an annual pass in hand to get DDE? Thank you for helping a planner gone bad. SueG

We bought our new APs at Guest Services at DTD last Saturday and also got the DDE card at the same time. It's not a plastic card (like a credit card), but is just like the ticket media (tyvek material).

We have never gotten a renewal because it just isn't justified for us. We try to get multiple trips on one AP and then buy new the next time.

As for DDE . . . Florida Residents and Annual Passholders (21 and older) can get the DDE.

And yes, you do need to have an AP to purchase DDE but you can do it all in one fell swoop like Deb.

DDE for AP holders is $60 and a second card costs $20.

Not really. Last year I had an annual pass and a DDE card. My AP expired 3 months before my DDE card. A month before my DDE card was to expire I received a renewal notice from DDE. I sent them $60 to renew my DDE card. I now have a DDE card without having an annual pass.

I'm new, what is DDE?

DDE = Disney Dining Experience card. It gives a 20% discount at virtually all WDW Table Service and Buffet Restaurants, including alcoholic beverages (hence the 21 year old requirement). It is also good for counter service locations at the value resorts and Animal Kingdom, and Artists Palette at SSR . One card is good for up to a party of 10 people, all on one dining check. Cost is $60 for annual passholders It is good for about a year to 13 months, depending when in the month you purchase the card.

An automatic gratuity of 18% is added to all checks, except for counter service locations.

Whoops, I think that was a mistake on their part, don't you? The rules are pretty clear on being an AP holder or FL resident.

I just purchased my AP and recieved the vouchers yesterday and would like to buy the DDE...is the option available online? I am unable to find the order form.

No, you cannot purchase the DDE card online. You can call an order it over the phone or just get it when you activate your passes. If you order it now and you are not going for a while, it will expire before your AP's do.

From allears.net:

Thanks! :thumbsup2 I'll pick one up when we activate our passes ... Looks like we'll be there at the same :wave2:

Can I use both the dining plan and DDE at the same time?

Would it pay my gratuity?
20% discount, paid with dining plan, 18% gratuity...

Discount on drinks, half price at PI.

You can use both at the same meal, but not like that. You can only use the DDE card for non-DDP items like appetizers or alcoholic beverages.

You can also use it for people in your party who are not on DDP. In fact, you can use it for up to 10 diners at one time, provided everyone is on the same check and the DDE cardholder is paying the check. You can settle with the others later and everyone can enjoy 20% off.

We wil be staying at Vistana in July for part of our vacation...if I have an AP, do we get free parking at the parks, and if so how does that work? TIA :)

You get free parking with an AP if you are staying offsite. Just show your AP to the CM at the toll gate.

If you are gong to visit during a "holiday" week, make sure you check to see if the places you plan to eat are accepting dde for the "holiday" week. We frequenlty travel around Thanksgiving and Easter and many places have a special holiday menu and won't accept the card for a period of time, sometimes longer than 1 week. I was told that it is up to the individual managers at each establishment to decide that restaurant's policy regarding dde.
