Looking to purchase an annual pass for my daughter who is in grad school. Realized she changed her driver's license to her school state so that we could save on car insurance so it no longer has her "home" address. Am I out of luck buying her an annual pass at the discounted rate? Not sure how strict Disney is with annual pass pick up. Does everyone have to be present when I pick up the passes?

I don't know all the rules, so forgive me.

That said, it sounds like you're trying to claim residency in multiple states to take advantage of all discounts.
That may be completely legit, I don't know. But, I wish I could be a resident of every state in order to get in state discounts on everything possible.

Everyone has to be present. Except for minor children, everyone must have ID that reflects residency at the owner's location. This has been my experience. YMMV

I just upgraded my 20 year old son's park hopper ticket to an annual pass certificate while he rode the rockn roller coaster. The cm did not ask for his ID. Your experience may vary.

That is unusual and not to be counted on. Normally anyone over 18 has to be there and show an ID.

Did they know he was 20, or did you just refer to him as your son?

They usually require to see the member's card and picture IDs from all adults to show they are from the same address since the discount applies only to those who reside at the same address as the member. If she is a student whom you and she both still consider to be a resident of your home, then you should consider, while she is home for the holidays, getting out what is needed, such as a birth certificate, and heading for the local license bureau that issues state picture ID cards (not a driver's license) and get one of those.

We had to show a driver's license and out DVC cards to obtain ours in November. They needed both mine and DHs. If her DL has a different address on it you may be out of luck. I also believe in Ohio you cannot obtain a state ID if you have a DL. Does she have a passport?

A passport won't work because it does not provide your address. Ohio does prohibit you from having both an Ohio driver's license and an Ohio ID card but most states allow you to have both, including New Jersey where the OP lives. Also, Ohio does not prohibit getting a state ID card if your driver's license is from another state.

To pick up her DVC AP, DD has had to provide a DL matching our home address, every single time since she turned 18.
We put her on our last contract.....now she still has to show a DL, but also is a member with access to all DVC perks & discounts :thumbsup2

I've never had an insurance company look at my license. How did that work? Shouldn't it have just shown that the car is garaged at her residence, and they would price the insurance from there? Wondering if you actually had to do that or if something was mis-explained.

All sorts of times in college we were told that being in college did NOT give us residency there if our parents lived in another state.

I have lived in four different states and the insurance companies have always asked to see my DL or a copy of it.

They ask. Or they have a birthdate on file from an earlier trip.
I doubt they have it on file, and if you're trying to get away with something nobody would answer it correctly.
Annual Passholder for 23 years. Nobody ever asked my DOB.

Again, my question stands.

Eventually one has to decide if they will follow the requirements of the business they wish to frequent or not.
Indeed this is true.
Unfortunately many (possibly most?) are not honest folks like you and me (and many others here).

I think you're wrong. Most people don't realize they have to lie to "get away with something" until after they've answered the question truthfully. Will you really coach your children to lie? And will they remember to lie when a CM asks them a direct question?

I won't, but yes, I do believe many will coach their kids to lie. Unfortunate to be sure, but I'm betting it's true.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Between the vast majority of people who don't know they need to lie, and the majority of people who raise their children to be honest, I can't imagine that "many" would operate this way. Ma Be I just have more faith in humanity, but there's simply no way to quantify it as "many."
