Annual Pass / Fast Pass Plus Confusion

we have annual passes that will expire amidst our next trip this summer. I'm planning to renew our passes soon but am worried if I use the old pass to book FPp, something will go afoul.

Can I book all my FPs with old AP? Or do I have to wait to activate the new ones when I start my actual trip?

Renew before you book upcoming FP+.
You can renew up to 60 days before your current AP expires (which coincides with on-site guests booking advance FP+.)

You do NOT have to actually activate the renewed AP in order to book advance FP+.

I fall in this I got my AP the day before my birthday I go for a week every year ( ok 6 days) for my birthday

so 60+ a few days I get to book FP for my trip ( I stay on site ) then I have to wait too book FP for the end of my trip until I can renews my AP and it has worked fine for 2 year, will not have to do this any more as I get the 13 months free this year

What Robo said. You don't have to wait until your current AP is over to renew, so renew a little early. You can book FP as long as that has been done, it doesn't have to have been activated in park to book FP on. Since FP booking is only "attached" to your MDE account and not any one ticket/pass/MB, you won't be booking them "on your old ap", so it won't cause any issues.

This happens to me every April. We go every year on Spring break for my daughter's school vacation and the dates of her April vacation varies from year to year. Sometimes our AP expire date can land in the middle of our vacation. Until I am able to renew our AP, I can't make all the FP+ ressies until my renew time comes up and I buy the pass renewal. Like this year, I was only able to make FP+ for the first 4 days of our vacation and then I had to wait for the window to renew AP came up, purchase the pass, and then could do more FP+. With this delay, I've still always been able to get the FP+ I wanted, so hopefully it won't be a problem for you either. The 13 month renewal should help with this for next year!

This year our renewal was at the beginning of our trip, so a few days in advance of our 60 day FP+ date I called and talked to Disney and IT. I was able to purchase my renewals on the phone a few days ahead of the 60 day renewal period since they were able to see online that I had a reservation, and IT linked them and ensured me we would be good to go. NO issues when I went to book FP+ for our vacation.

I was able to do this as well, the first CM said that it wasn't possible, and also a few other things that I knew were not accurate, so I asked for a supervisor and she was able to easily renew my AP a few days before the 60 day renewal window, I had no issues booking FP+.
