Anniversary help?

I have BCV booked for our 10th wedding anniversary next February. (My first trip without both my girls!) I was thinking about trying to switch to VWL at the seventh month booking window, but now I'm wondering...
I would think MK would close early during that time of year and Epcot would close later. Seems more logical to stay close to where we'll end up most nights.
VWL is a fav for us and just seems right for the winter. I dunno. I guess we could try for a BWV boardwalk view, too. I can bet we'll never end up swimming so SAB is not an issue. (But, I will go into a hot tub! No kids, remember? LOL) Any thoughts?

On another note I will probably wait and try to get an AP rate for another WDW property to stay the first night we get in. (We'll get in early evening as we'll drive straight down from Atlanta.) I'm usually pretty budget, but no values this time! I could splurge and surprise hubby and book that one night at GF or Poly. (We've never stayed at either.) But, then I was thinking maybe POFQ since that is where we stayed on our first vacation ever together. We loved that place. (Does it seem much different now than it did when it first opened?) Or CB as that is where we stayed when he proposed to me in the castle. So confused... CB just doesn't seem very romantic to me.

OH!!! And I was impressed when i got my DVC ressie confirmation letter that MS put under requests that it is our anniversary. Think they'll try to give us a good view or something?

Years ago WDW would do something for an anniversary but so many people lied about it being their anniversay that they did away with the little gifts life free drink for two, etc. We went to WDW every year during our anniversary, the practice of little gifts stopped years ago.

That is a shame. I was hoping we could get a view of IllumiNations. We'll see...

Anyone have any thoughts about us staying at BCV or trying to switch to VWL?

Thanks!

Last year we got a vase full of beautiful roses in our room when my wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary at the Poly. Disney Magic happens when you least expect it. You never know when or what will happen.

The Poly is a great resort for a romantic get away. Maybe do concierge for the whole trip there.

POFQ is also good and has a special memeory for the two of you. We think that resort is the nicest for adults only among the moderates.

VWL is a great choice, but AKL has even better theming and if you go for a savannah view is really quite special. Imagine a private dinner for two on your balcony overlooking the savannah at dusk. They do it right!

Artist Point (WL) and Jiko (AKL) are both excellent restaurants.

I recommend a special dinner at Victoria & Alberts. It was still a part of the World Vacation Package when I ate there. It may now be only on the Grand Plan, if they even still have that. There was not a chef's table when I was there, so can't recommend it.

It depends what part of February you are going. Mid-February begins Peak time at WDW so the parks tend to stay open later. President's Day (Weekend) also extends the hours. This year it fell early (2/16), next year it's not until 2/21.

I happen to have the park hours for part of President's Week this year. Sun. & Mon. MK was open 9-10, Tuesday 9-9, Wed. 9-7 and Thurs. 8-8. Fireworks were every night and Spectromagic on several nights. Epcot, as always, was open until 9:00.

Adults only in Feb, I would stay at BWV - easy access to Epcot and MGM along with of course the Boardwalk etc.

For some reason, BWV feels more adult oriented and "romantic" than BCV - maybe because it is more a central part of the BW resort complex than BCV is of the YC/BC complex

You never know on the weather - our highest high during our trip was 81 and the lowest high was 52

I was in the MK on the Sat of President's Week and it was open until 11pm - the crowds were heavy mid afternoon but slowly were beaten out of the park by the incessant cold rains that came in that day

thanks

We'll actually be going early February, 5th thru 8th. Thanks Pam for those hours, though.

I'm still up on whether to keep BCV or switch to VWL or BWV (Only if we could get a boardwalk view.)

POFQ is a good bet. That would be a cute surprise for him for the first night we arrive since it has some sentimental value to it. (Do they still have those beignets?)

As for Poly or GF concierge, can someone fill me in on that? Would it be worth one evening and one morning? What is offered at both those times of day and what hours? Are these guaranteed to have good views like towards the lake? Any face towards MK?
I wonder if they ahve AP rates on these rooms?

As for dinner I was thinking if they have the Wishes one night I could try for California Grill. We've never done that. Only problem is how to know to book it 90 days out since park hours come out so late.

Eating dinner in the castle would be fine, since that is how he proposed to me...

Thanks for helping! :)

I stayed at the Poly Concierge a couple of years ago for our 20th anniversary. That was the same time we decided to buy into DVC as an anniversary gift to each other. We stayed on AP discount which was significant but still around $370 night with Lagoon View. It was wonderful. The room was on a high floor looking straight out over the lagoon to the Castle with no obstructions. The Conciege staff were all very nice. We checked in around 8:30am and our room was ready so if the same happened for you, it could be worth it for one night. You may as well make it a weekend night to save on those points.

DW and I stayed at the Polynesian Concierge last fall (FTP, baby!) - it was our first Disney trip as empty-nesters. While I agree that the grounds are very romantic, I'm not sure if I feel the same about staying there, particularly for only one night. Shan, I'd go for the sentimentality of POFQ, but find time to take an evening stroll along the tiki-torch-lit paths of the Polynesian, where soft tropical music plays from hidden speakers - very romantic. Plus the paths offer some great views of the GF, MK and CR.

We were at OKW for our 35th anniversary in August. I made sure they knew about it at the resort, during the reservation process, and when I made the dinner ressies for our anniversary dinner at Artist Point. The only thing we got was at Artist Point, and it was one of their fabulous signature cobbler desserts.
