Animator's Palate butter knives - how to wash

Reeeeeally? They sell them in the shops on board? On all 4 ships? SHUT UP!:love:
I’vesaild 3 times (MAgic, Magic, Wonder) wanted the knife each time and they never had one. I understood this shouldn’t be a problem going forward, Guest Services was surprised that they were unable to me on my last two cruises. (Magic said “try new ships, Downtown Disney and the Wonder”, Wonder said they never sold them.) I’m betting they are easily available on all ships now though. I’ll leave a message here next week either way for the Wonder.

Thank you!
Upon further research, it seems Canada won't allow knives of ANY sort in carry ons for flights into the US, including butter knives, even though the TSA allows utensils, including butter knives. Oh well. So much for that. :(
Can you pack it in stored luggage or have it shipped? Because I tried so hard and had poor results, I will send you one if you’d like. We sail on the Wonder in 2 days.

I asked the CM to wrap mine in bubble wrap and he did. If you're checking any luggage, it can go in there safely.

That's the thing. I don't plan on checking any luggage, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

That's very kind of you to offer! I'm sailing on the Wonder soon (ish) as well. Would you please let me know if you find any onboard? Will DCL ship?

I’ll ask them. Send me your town and state so there’s no confusion for them. I wonder if you could send it from Castaway Cay? I’m sure you would have to bring your own box and I’ve heard guest services doesn’t always have postage to sell you.

We sailed on the Wonder earlier this month and the knives were for sell in the gift shop.

Given that my sister has mailed multiple postcards to me from Castaway and I have not received any (our parents got ONE) I would not mail anything you want to see again from Castaway. Even assuming it is open.

Good point, we've been to CC 5 times and the post office has never been opened.

Of course a padded manila envelope from any port should work. I think a package would have a better chance than a post card.
I haven’t sent from CC but believe many never make their way.
I have sent family post cards from several US trips I’ve taken and often have poor returns on those. Except DC.

We're sailing to Alaska, so sending anything back to the lower 48 from AK, or Canada would be a pain. :(

My sister and I both bought a knife on the Magic two years ago and we were worried about airport security. We travelled with only a carry-on suitcase and no one could really tell us if we could pack it or not. We did not have any trouble getting through security with them. But not sure if they saw them in our suitcases and it was ok or we just were lucky. I use mine all of the time and put it in the dishwasher. Hope you can get one!

Why would you think it'd be difficult to mail to the lower 48 from Alaska? It's still the US. Still the same mail system. You should be able to mail from any of the ports you visit. I would think it would be much more difficult from the Caribbean.

My dad bought a knife in Alaska the ship held it and we put it in the luggage as we left Canada for Wisconsin on Alaska Airlines. We declared it at customs also.

I plan on picking one up on my next cruise. I think it's great that they're selling them in the gift shops now. I would wash it by hand just to keep its fresh look but DCL runs all that stuff through the dishwasher so i'm sure you'll be safe either way.

They have been selling them for a few years now. I bought mine about three years ago. I have two of them and they go in the dishwasher all the time. I love using them when I have bagels and cream cheese!

I would think they are considered more of a "spreader" than a knife. I had no problem having mine in checked luggage. They were wrapped up in tissue paper at point of sale.

While it's the same mail system, sending anything to and from Alaska is not only incredibly expensive, but also takes a long time. I have friends who live in Alaska that have a hard time getting even Amazon shipments. However, it just dawned on me to look into flat rate boxes. I could probably do that if I can find a post office close to the docks.

Flat rate is great! I just sent two supersize beach towels, five bags of Japanese candy, a pair of shoes and a bunch of unnecessary paperwork from Florida back to my home in Wisconsin for less than 20 bucks! More room for souvenir is my cruise starts tomorrow!

Yay! Have so much fun! Can't wait to read all about it!

My only gripe about having to send stuff while on vacation is having to take the time out of what little time we already have in port to deal with the post office. I thought about pre-paying for the postage at home before leaving, but if I don't find the knives onboard, then I would've wasted the postage.

These are my absolute favorite Disney cruise souvenir. I have about 4 of them and plan on buying 4 more on our October cruise. I use them for dips and butter and all kinds of things. And every time I use them, I think about Disney! I always toss them in the dishwasher, so they have probably been washed in there about 100 times so far? No problems at all.

I took a photo Saturday and there had to be over 50 butter knives on the shelf! I don’t know how to post a photo to the thread from my phone.
