Animal Crossing-City Folk

OMG....Teddy the Tranny Bear! I'm so glad he went to a good home! :rotfl:

We've had Teddy since we started to play the game. He was our last original neighbor. At first I didn't like him but I was really sad to see him go. He really does grow on you. He was the neighbor that brought me my birthday cake.

Plus, he looks so funny wearing all the girl clothes that my daughter designs for Able's while he talks all tough. Vickie and I had a really silly conversation about him one night that involved his need for heels, an eyebrow wax and other feminine enhancements. ;):rotfl:

Aww I love Teddy, he is my original neighbor from the beginning and he just informed me yesterday that he was moving. I was quite sad. lol

Aww, you need to shoot it down and this pelican speaks to you.

Spongeblair

Aww dont say with my sling shot...doh.

DS said that and I said " dont be silly, how can you shot a space ship with a sling shot...Will Smith needed a fighter plane !! "

Spongeblair, let me know what's a good time for you that I can obtain the sandcastle, or however you want to work it. Thanks! :goodvibes

yup with your slingshot and it makes a funny noise and crashes then you have to find the parts and return them to Gulliver for a rare item.

Saturday during day or at night?

Blair

It will probably have to be night for me... going to my niece's birthday party during the day. I'll look for your open gate or open mine if yours is closed! Hopefully with the time difference it will still work out somehow! :goodvibes

I have never gotten a spaceship!! :sad1: I'll have to keep a look out for UFOs now though! :rotfl:

OK, I need help with this whole feng shui business. I get the concept - placing things in your house in a certain area brings good luck. But how do you know if an item is "yellow", "red" or "green"? Is it the literal color of something (like a green lava lamp or a plant - those would both be green)? Or does everything have an assigned color (something like all beds are red, or something like that)?

Do ALL of the houses in the town need to have good feng shui to have any impact? And is it on all floors of the houses, or just on the main floor?

I've read in different places that having good feng shui will give you more rare bugs and fish, up the chances of getting a gold axe from Serena, grow more hybrids, etc. So I'd like to try it to see if it works.

My house is totally Feng Shuied (LOL) right now. I am trying to get my HRA score up to 200,000 and it helps with that as well. I just arranged my current furniture and items according to the lists and added a few other things from the list I have that didn't clash too badly. I might try using only items from the list next even though it would look pretty weird. I also have every lucky item I own crammed in there. From what I have read, all 3 floors count but even doing one will help. I think it is an individual thing - each house has it's own player and the feng shui applies only to them.

The actual color of the item varies in a lot of cases from the feng shui color which makes it confusing. There are a couple of different guides out there. This is the one I have used the most:
http://accf.wikispaces.com/Feng+Shui

Pop over and look at my house if you want some idea of what it might look like. I can also bring out any of the lucky items/special colored items that aren't in your catalog for you to pick up though you probably have most everything that I do. :)

have you noticed any special bugs or fish?

What do all the points get you?

I tried feng shui this past weekend and did get better points.

I'd love to come and see your house.

I'll pm you my info - you can come see mine as well!

Lois a/k/a Lovely (I have 2 characters, Lovely's house has the feng shui room)

It's hard to say...I do have a tendency when I am fishing to find multiples of the harder to find fish - sometimes I will get 2 -3 sharks within 10 minutes and I have probably caught 6 coels but I have the golden rod so it may be that as well. :confused3 Same with bugs - I do find a lot of the rarer bugs often in multiples but I don't know if it is the feng shui.

I'll post my info and add you this afternoon. :)

I am freaking out a bit right now. I hope you guys don't mind if I vent a bit here because I really don't participate in any other forums right now and I need to get this off my chest. DD had a Dr. appt on Tuesday and her doctor felt she has gained a completely unreasonable amount of weight in the past 2 years considering that she is fairly active and eats well, doesn't drink pop, etc. She had some labs done and Annika's insulin was high and her thyroid panels came back as irregular. They have referred us to a pediatric endocrinology clinic at the local children's hospital and we are waiting for them to call and schedule an appointment. Her doctor just called again and the endo wants more bloodwork done to decide how soon she needs to be seen - they schedule urgent cases sooner. I am taking her right now to get the labs done but I hate having to wait for all of this.

I did some thyroid research yesterday to find out more about her symptoms and realized that I am having major thyroid issues. I knew it was likely I had thyroid problems but have been putting off dealing with mine for the last few years because it didn't seem that serious and the past 6 months or so I have been fairly consumed with my ongoing spinal treatments and testing. I talked to my mom last night and as it turns out she and her sister both have Hashimoto's and my aunt has had thyroid tumors (benign). I now think my depression (medicated) migraines (medicated) and a bunch of my other health issues may be related to thyroid. I have been practically bed/couch bound for a month now due to extreme fatigue and have been having major heart palpitations, insomnia and some other symptoms. I just figured it was due to stress from my other medical issues (I'm a mess...LOL) and me just feeling lazy because I am on summer break. I scheduled an appointment for tomorrow with my regular doc to get bloodwork ordered because I am hoping it will help them analyze DD and because I have been feeling so awful.

I feel like crap but I am mostly worried about DD - she is only 12 (13 in 2 weeks) and I just hate that her blood work is so irregular so young. :sad1: She and I have always joked about how we are the 97.2 girls (our normal body temps) and I also thought her weight gain was due to pre-puberty and genetics. Now I realize that these were symptoms of a problem all along and I didn't catch it. :guilty: If you guys would keep her in your thoughts this week, I would really appreciate it. :lovestruc

Thanks,

Keri

Keri,

In the last year I was diagnosed with both type 2 diabetes and thyroid issues. I have always suffered from a mild depression (that sometimes gets worse). I will say that once I went on the thyroid meds, I saw a lot of improvement. I still take another depression med, but overall I feel better. I also have cut way back on using my Imitrex. It's easy as pie to take synthroid every day!

I would suggest that you need to see an endocrinologist, too. Primary care doctors do not generally use the same lab guidelines when determining if you need thyroid medications. In fact, it is sometimes hard to get an endo who will medicate correctly. I am fortunate that my endo does not think it's ok to just be "in range" but rather wants to keep your TSH near 1 (well below "in range") and also monitors the other thyroid markers like free T3. There is really good information here.

It is possible that a thyroid issue is causing your daughter's insulin issues. My diabetes was better controlled when I started the thyroid meds. Also, if they don't have answers right away, you may want to ask about Cushings Syndrome.

Let me know if you have questions! I hope you both get the care you need quickly.

Of course you can vent here!

The good thing out of all this is that it has possibly been caught early in Annika and she won't have to suffer for years and years like you and others in your family probably had to. Hopefully a lot of your health issues can be resolved/relieved now that you know what the problem might be as well!! Hope everything turns out well at the endocrologist and that you can get some much needed relief soon. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts! :grouphug:

Oh Keri - so much to worry about :grouphug:

I also suggest seeing a good endocrinologist. Lucky for you you're in a large metro area and there must be a number of good doctors around. Perhaps youre regular doctor could recommend one or even a Google search might help (it might show one of your local hospitals has a department specializing in pediatric endocrinology).

Good luck. :flower3:

Thanks for the support and info guys. :lovestruc

Lois - she has been referred to the Pediatric Endo department at Children's Mercy Hospital here in KC. They have a very good reputation so I am feeling comfortable with them at this time.

Calliaz - thanks for the links and info! I just took her in for the next round of tests and when we picked up the lab order at her Ped, I asked them for a copy of the first round of test results. For you and others with a thyroid disorder and/or diabetes these may be of interest.

T4, free .9 (low/normal)
TSH 5.0 (high)
Potassium 5.2 (3.8-5.1 normal range)
Cholesterol 172 (HDL 52 LDL 97) Ratio = 3.3
Triglycerides 115
Insulin 51 (should be less than 17 )

All other tests were well within normal range. They just took 5 more tubes of blood for the following tests. I am currently googling like mad to figure these out.

DHEA sulfate (related to adrenal function)
Hemoglobin
Progesterone
Hepatatic Function Panel
Hydroxyprogesterone
Andostenedione (looks like a steroid related hormone also having to do with the adrenal glands?)

God, I hate waiting. Some of these test have to be frozen and sent to California. It will be Tuesday at the earliest before we have any word. :sad2:

Oh Keri, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm one who has BTDT! I had thyroid issues for years before someone finally figured it all out. Depression was a big thing for me; I could always tell when my thyroid was out of whack because I'd feel all sad and blue all the time. I ended up having to have my thyroid removed completely and to be honest I still struggle with it, even when everything is all nice and balanced. The good news is that you're catching this early and Annika will do GREAT once they figure everything out. I wish you were local so I could send you to my endicrinologist because he's fabulous!

If it makes you feel any better, one of my docs told me that most women will have thyroid issues in their lifetime. I'm not sure how true it is, but it made me feel better for some weird reason.

I know you're worried about Annika and if it were my DD I would be, too. I'll keep sending good thoughts and prayers your way. :flower3:

Did they also do a T3 and free T3 and they were normal? That TSH is way too high (at least for an adult). The high insulin is not necesarily a sign of diabetes, but it is a sign there's something going on.

The DHEA is directly related to thyroid function and will be low when someone is hypothyroid. The other hormone tests might be for something like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, but aren't the ones I am used to having (I also have PCOS).

If they haven't ordered an Ha1c test, it looks like they are not looking for diabetes.

I hope some of the results come back quickly and are enough to allow your primary care to get you scheduled with the specialist! I'll be thinking of you.
