Gerri, I LOVED Mission Space when we went in April. If the lines hadn't been so long I would have gone a second time. I did not feel like hurling at all. I just felt the G forces pulling the skin on my face back. Of course on a younger person with firmer skin, this might not happen. When DS went in July he went on it 3 or 4 times.

Carol - Thanks for the info, I wouldn't mind having the G forces give me a face lift. Maybe after the 3rd or 4th time I'll look 29 again - NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:teeth:

Gerri~Missin Space was fun! I'm usually a ride wimp & my DH was sure I was gonna chicken out in line cause they kept giving all of the warnings "If you are prone to motion sickness, have a fear of small spaces....." but I was brave and I went.......and boy am I glad I did!! It was FUN! All 3 of my kids went 15,15 & 8 & they all liked it too!

My older princess: is in the process of reading her last required reading book for the summer.............She keeps referring to it as the BRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And hopes it gets better since it's over 600 pages long.

I would like to know who deemed half of these books required summer reading.:crazy2:

I'll be heading out in a few... can't believe this is the last one for me :(

I've ridden M:S a couple of times... the first being in December. Y'all can laugh at me, but I was terribly disappointed with it. Some of the sensations were kind of cool, but it just didn't live up to the hype that I had been getting from everyone prior to my trip. I went on it again in May and was even more disappointed (I was hoping that my recovery from my sinus infection in Dec was hindering something with the ride). So it is an okay ride, but not worth waiting more than 10 minutes for. Fortunately both times I walked right on.

Guess it takes more than that to thrill me :confused3
(take with a grain of salt as well, very few rides are actually very thrilling to me at this point... I used to do all the coasters before my back trouble and I guess I am a thrill seeker, who can't be satisfied)

MY son is dealing with this now too.....................he's entering 10th grade & his required books are:
The Pearl
Farenheit 451
Myths
Jane Eyre

so far he's only finished The Pearl..............he better get moving!

Laura - at least I still have time to decide what to do. I guess we'll just have to see when we get down there, if I'm feeling brave or not.

I already know Lou won't go on it, so we'll see who else is brave on this trip.

Gerri~I want to hear all about the rooms at BCV! It's our home resort & we haven't stayed there yet........VWL twice........we hae a 2 bedroom booked for Feb.....hoping for an Epcot view.......

 Elaine it is now open season.:duck: :scratchin I'd hide if I were you.

DD required reading was : The Bell Jar, Catcher in the Rye, Slaughter house five, and Mother Night and the Poisonwood Bible aka THE BRICK........................

OMG OMG OMG!!! Poisonwood Bible is one of the worst books I've ever read!!!! Every page weighed about 50 pounds....
Catcher in the Rye I loved.....

Laura the studio we stayed in last year was nice, I'll let you know how the two bedroom one is when we get back....from the tour we took of one last year it looked very nice as well.

The best part I think about the BCV though is the walking distance to Epcot and the Boardwalk, the Pool, and Beaches and Cream and the Arcade..........Not necessarily in that order though.

I might also not be the best person to ask though, because we usually don't spend a whole lot of time in the room, but I'll do my best to be informative.

I haven't read the Poisonwood Bible myself, I know it was on the best sellers list for awhile. I won't tell DD what you said though, as that may cause her to hurl it out a window. I told her I would like to try reading it when she's done or NOT.................

As for the rest the first two she said were very depressing................and they wonder why kids have such problems these days..........................when was the last time anyone read any of these books and thought maybe they should change the required reading lists. You mean to tell me, no one has written anything better recently. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DH called on the way home, need to get dinner ready.

Back Later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

He should be bringing dinner to you!!!!! ::yes::

I remember The Bell Jar.....that was very depressing

We read Poisonwood Bible for our book club.....................a few women liked it....I wasn't one of them................the best thing I can say is it was better than the truly worst book we read in book club...'House of Sand & Fog'...horrible horrible book....no redeeming characters......every page of that one weighed 100 pounds..............I'll gladly ship you my copy of Poisonwood Bible if ehrs is a school copy:D

.............And finally, I'm already in trouble for my Pittsburgh remark as it seems someone has been keeping her up to date on the posts..... LK? Brian? Bueller?

No was me, boss........

Don't get me started on school reading lists and summer homework. Andrew is entering 11th grade and had to read Huck Finn and selected essays from The Partly Cloudy Patriot plus all the other assignments he had to do.

As far as The Poisonwood Bible, Sarah had to read that for her AP English class senior year. They asked the parents to read it also and come in for a book discussion. I thought is was interesting and not as bad as when she had to read Lord of the Flies.

I agree that some of the selctions really turn kids off from reading. If they want them to read, give them a list of books and let them chose what they enjoy.

Thanks, but I actually paid for the books and to see her be tortured all summer...............so there was an upside to the whole endeavor:teeth:

I don't belong to a book club but I enjoy reading. I have a stack of books on my to read list as we speak.

The chicken's done and the little princess: s are chowing down as I type this. They couldn't wait for DH to get home.

Quality family time you know................................. can't you just feel it................................

There are still 30 pages I need to read. Lou...wanna give a Lou-cap for me please?

As for vacation...first off, there was only 1 shirt in my suitcase that did not get worn. So that means even my 'in case' stuff got used.

Trip report...flew down Friday night, got bad directions from Hertz to the hotel. Found a store called Condoms To Go while we were lost, LOL. No, we did not go in. I just thought it was hysterical.

Saturday morning, met up with SIL and BIL for breakfast then we headed to a very cool water park. Settled in and my SIL says her left side feels numb. She waited about an hour before finally relenting to her dh that she thought she might need to go to a doctor. Well, since she couldnt walk (numb leg) her dh went to get a wheelchair to help her to the car. The first aid staff heard 'numb, wheelchair' and all came running. They ended up having to call an ambulance for her and it turns out she had a minor stroke. She is fine with no lasting damage, but ended up spending our entire visit in the hospital. She was not happy with not being able to spend time with Sam.
Since we had taken 2 cars to the waterpark Lou, Sam and I stayed there while she got settled in to the hospital. After that we headed to Grapevine Mills. OMG, it was tax-free weekend and you would think these people were saving 50% as opposed to 8%. I could not believe the crowds for such a piddly discount.

Sunday, Lou, Sam and I went to the Stockyards and saw the morning cattle drive, did a little souvenier shopping adn went to the Cowboy Museum. IN the next day or 2 I will post the pic of me actually sitting in a saddle on a real Longhorn.
We went to the Dallas West End that evening for a little while. There was a cute little courtyard with a bar and music so we had a drink and listened for a bit.

Monday was the zoo for a few hours. And of course some more shopping, LOL.

Tuesday we had to check out of the hotel, my BIL wanted ot take Sam to Toys R US to get him his birthday gift and we spent more time with SIL.

Our hotel was just OK. Our first room had a leaky air conditioner that left a lake at the foot of one of the beds. They let us have another room on the same floor and lucky us got to move all our stuff ourselves. The pool was small and in need of some repair. But it was cool and wet, and when it is 90+ cool and wet is a very good thing.

The flight home last nigth was great. There were maybe 30 people on the plane so we got to spread out wherever we wanted. We hustled right up to the Economy Plus rows for extra leg room. Sam was stunned speechless when our ride home showed up. We lucked out and the next car up was a white stretch limo. Complete with twinkling lights, TV, VCR, bar, etc. Sam just felt like a million bucks.

Now I am off to a PTA meeting (note to self, just say no). Ill upload my pics later and share if anyone is interested :)

Of course we're interested in pictures Bethany!!!!!
:Pinkbounc

I hope your SIL recovers quickly
