Andrea & Kory's 6/11/11 Wishes Wedding--WP&GF Ballroom**Updated 8/15 Ann. Pics Last!

So sorry for your MOH drama, thats just crap! You are SO not a zilla and this girl just needs to shut up! She agreed to be your MOH, knowing full and well this is YOUR day and she basically does whatever YOU want her to...everyone knows this, its not something new. Seriously this girl is bugging me, she needs to get over it. I'm sure after the wedding she will realize just how dumb she's being. Or it may take her getting married to fully understand...but when she does she should feel like the biggest jerk in the world! Just pin your hair and cover your tattoos....its not rocket science! RAAAWWR I dont know how I would react in your situation, but Ithink youve handled it all very gracefully! Heres some pixie dust in hopes this all goes away and Bratty McBratterson gets her ducks in a row! :wizard:

On a brighter note, you are getting so close! I cant wait to see more and hear all about your amazing day!!

JTandDolly (from creative disigns) did my monogram, and I LOVE it. She's amazing!!! I've got her stuff all over my PJ if you wanna take a peek. :goodvibes

I'll have to go look at her stuff! I can't believe how close we are, yet it still seems sooooooo far away. I think its because I'm a kindergarten teacher, and my wedding is the Saturday right after school ends..in fact my principal is letting my matron of honor and I miss the Friday (it's just post planning). And since the end of school seems to come so slooowly, I think that's why the wedding seems so far away. Oh, and I have to laugh. I call my puppy Bratty McBratterson all of the time!

Sorry to hear about the MOH drama, hopefully it will blow over. I made my own monogram, and I am not super great on computers either. I actually made mine in powerpoint, and we had our initials and a carriage as well, let me know if you want any help of pointers on making yours, or if you would like to see ours, I'd be happy yo help you out.

I would love pointers from you! Yours is the monogram that I saw and fell in love with and wanted one like it!

Help! Okay, I was on the verge of my first bridal breakdown. Yes, there was the whole maid of honor drama, but this almost made me break down in tears. I have been working with Shelly from Impressions and I can't tell you how much I love her and how glad I am that I was referred to her! Personality-wise, she's so great and funny. And job-wise, she has sooooo many great ideas! My favorite one so far is her idea of the escort cards having a cute saying to go to the table"It's a Whole New World at the Jasmine and Aladdin table", etc . And the menu cards, and the place cards...I could go on and on!

Anyways, I'm having a hard time with my invitations. I designed my own invites with her...here's the sketch that I gave her (my Matron of honor did this)
invitation-sketch.jpg

Here's the digital proof that I got back

invitation1.jpg

I loved the castle and the fireworks but not the Cinderella at the bottom. The only character's I'm having at all at the wedding is on the table names...everything else is strictly icons (castle, carriage, glass slipper, etc). I asked if she had something like the one on the sketch

She send this one
invitation2.jpg

Which I love! But she said that she's having a hard time with it because there is no continuity in the picture. In the first one she sent, there was a road and the carriage was "driving" to the castle, but in this one there's just a carriage there. If we put a road next to, it looks like it's broken down (we tried this at the top of the page next to the castle). She said she doesn't like to just have things on the invitation for just the sake of having it.

I love it. It's just what I wanted. But my matron of honor agrees with her. She thinks that there's no story line here and it looks a little weird (she was an art major and said this in the nicest way possible so I know she was saying it with my interests at heart). So I don't know what to do! The RSVP date is a month from tomorrow! The invites still have to be printed up and assembled and addressed (Shelly will be doing all of this, thank goodness!) My mom wants them mailed by April 25th (which doesn't seem like enough time now), but that only gives every less than 2 weeks to get the RSVP back to me, and how often do people return them right away? (I honestly don't know) So I emailed Shelly and told her to lets just go with the ones I like. I'm getting stressed about the timing issue, so I think that's best.

But neither Shelly nor my matron of honor has steered me wrong so far so I wonder if I'm picking the wrong one. What do you guys think? (And none of the "Get the one that you like best" ;) ) If you saw the one that I like, would you wonder why there is just a coach sitting at the bottom with no road? Or would you think nothing of it? Help!!

I think the carriage makes the text look... squished between the two icons.
I'd go with the first one because it had more flow, and, continuity.

BUT, your wedding, your invitations! :cool2:

I absolutely love the font on the first one! It definitely feels more "fairy tale" than the second one. Maybe she could combine the two? Perhaps she could take the castle and writing from the first invitation, and then add the second carriage at the bottom. I think if you shrink the second carriage, and make more of an emphasis on the castle, then it wouldn't matter that the carriage isn't on a road. Just a thought!

I messed around with the design a little bit (like 3 minutes). What about something like this?

There was a concern about continuity and balance because the road and the icon weren't working. So, I thought -- what would it look like if we used an image of what the pumpkin looks like AFTER she's already met her Prince (just like you!) - and after the clock strikes midnight? I also added the glass slipper next to the pumpkin for an extra magical touch. I also changed the castle...sounds like you're on a tight deadline - but I bet it will all work out for you! :cheer2:

I'm so lame, though. I forgot to leave space for the bow you wanted -- but I guess you can see where I was going with this brainstorm.

LOVE THIS!

I must say I agree about the first design.. It's got more flow to it.. The one that violentmesses also works!

Heres my thoughts as a designer i would use the script font from the first invitation but move the text up a bit as it too low down and too much of a gap. Then if you prefer the second carriage pic shrink the carriage at the bottom slightly, so your eyes are drawn more to the text than the carriage. Then if i was you i would add some like crystals at the bottoms to look like stars to make it stand out better.

Hope this helps.

My favorite one is the one violentmesses did. :rolleyes1

I like the writing on the first more than the second. I don't think either design looks bad though.

I like the first one or the one violentmesses did. The font on the second one just doesn't look too "fairy tale" to me.

Ooh and I agree, add some crystals!! A little bling makes everything better!:yay:

Thank you guys all so much for your input! In my "moment" last night, I forgot to say that the font is definitely the first one, no matter what the graphics would be and that there is the space for the ribbon. Unfortunately, I can't change the graphics to a new one, since I'm not making my own and I don't know what she has, but HOLY COW violentmesses, that is AMAZING! Please tell me you are making your own invites--I can only imagine how great they would be!

So Shelly came thorough and sent me this today

invitation3.jpg

we sent it to the printers

What do you guys think? It's got the pretty font, the carriage I like, and the road that helps with the continuity ( and the weird space is where the bow will go).

Thats exactly how I was thinking you should've combined the two designs! They look great! I love them, woohoo Shelley!! :cutie:

The wedding is coming up so fast! :cheer2:

Those invitations are beautiful. They will look awesome when you get the ribbons on them.

I just started reading, so there are so many things I want to say right now! Here are the cliff notes: LOVE your colors, those Gator shirts are adorable, I hope your MOH sucks it up and puts your happiness first, and your dress is gorgeous (ps- I can't believe you were ever trying to lose any weight, your arms look tiny!)

I think your final invite is so cute, and personally I think you made the right decision. You never want to look back and wish that you had fought for your favorite choice.

Can't wait to see how it all comes together!

I know...it seems like I have a ton to do. And I can't wait to see the final invites!

Thanks for reading! Thanks for the compliments! (as for the losing weight thing, I gained weight when I started a new medicine, all around the stomach/back area and I just want to lose that).

Thank you! I think I chose right with the invites too. It's exactly what I had envisioned when I made the sketch (well, told my matron of honor what to draw) and I can't wait to see them!!

First off, rant: I was grumpy when I got home because at the very beginning of Feb, I had set up with an Etsy seller for her to make me a velour suit for the day of the wedding in my color with "Bride" on it. She had agreed to have it to me before my bridal shower. Then she got sick and was delayed. Then she couldn't find the fabric I'd want for the price we had agreed on and wouldn't be going to the city til the end of March. I agreed to push back the due date as long as I got it before my wedding. Well, today she wrote me that her embroidery machine is broken so she won't be able to make the outfit. grr!!! I could have had another seller make me one and now I'm not sure I have time! So not so happy (anyone know of any purple day-of suits (at this point it doesn't have to be velour) that is short sleeved and zip up with something cute written across the back??)

But then I opened my mail and saw these that I had ordered for a different Etsy seller. LOVE THEM!
