My wife got a great rate at Anaheim Marriott for April 2nd and 3rd because she is a travel agent. It will be $113 and change total for the two nights ($49 per night), including taxes. However, I know it isn't extremely close to the parks. In addition, they charge $20 per day for parking which adds another $40 to the price of staying there (now up to $153) and because we have two kids (10 and 4), we don't really want to have to walk that far so ART would be a necessity which will add another $26 for the four of us for two days. That takes the total to stay there up to $179.

I checked in to Desert Inn & Suites and discovered I can stay there for $233 total for the two nights including taxes. Parking is free and the proximity right across the street means walking to and from the parks is easy and quick.

My question is, do you all think it is worth it to spend the extra $54 dollars for the convenience of staying right across the street? I know the Marriott is rated higher than the Desert Inn & Suites but we won't be spending tons of time in the room because we will only have two days in the parks.

Opinions?

I just got back from 3 nights at Desert Inn. The location is GREAT! 5 minutes from the entrance. It is actually closer the the parks than the Disneyland Hotel is. It's a 5 minutes walk, which makes it very easy to walk back when you get tired and need a break. The short distance also meant we were able to spend a little extra time getting ready/sleeping. We didn't feel rushed since we knew we were just 5 minutes away. The Rooms are clean, the bed was comfortable. I'd recommend it definitely.

Yes add Free Breakfast to the mix for even more savings and I bet it comes out cheaper. I would totally opt for across the street especially with small children.

We stayed at the Desert Inn a week ago and loved everything about it. For the price, you can't get any better. Loved the location! So close to the parks! The free breakfast, although pretty basic, was still good enough for us and saved $$$ on breakfast we would have had to buy.

The rooms were clean, and we got free internet on our laptop too!

I must say, I was a little worried about this hotel because of some comments I had read on certain forums but I was pleasantly surprised and would return there anytime.

BUT you will pay the 20.00 for parking and if you want internet access that is another 9.95 per 24 hours. The rooms are all remodeled though, there is a Stabucks in the lobby and honestly the walk is not bad IF you go through inbetween the convention center and cross mid-way on Katella. I thought it would be a long walk but it really was not bed. The beds at the Marriott are only doubles.. not sure about the Desert Inn.....
I know I prefer Queens...

Good luck with your choice..I woudl take the extra $$ saved and buy goodies for the kids though.

We'll be staying at the Anaheim Marriott March 17-21. DH's company is paying for our stay so we didn't get to choose where we're staying. If we did I think I may have chosen a more family friendly hotel closer to Disneyland. Having said that I am really looking forward to staying at the Marriott as I am a big Marriott fan and the rooms were just remodeled. So I guess I'm not really much help and kinda stuck in the middle. :lmao: But if you want room pictures or any special info about the Marriott let me know and I'd be happy to share. I'll be on the Dis on the 18th as DH will be in meetings all that day so me and the kids will be using it as our R&R day at the hotel.
