An Unusual Question

I dont have a hint for you, but this may make you feel better. We went last summer and my 9 yo niece really wanted to ride it but she was worried. When she saw it up close, she had second thoughts. We didnt want to force her, but we knew she would like it(she loves Thunder MT). She finally did it, LOVED it, and did it again. Her face in the picture looks like she was scared to death, but she really wasnt. :D

I just hold on and close my eyes. It's seeing what's ahead that is distressing to me, not the drop. Good luck!

I put another vote in for SCREAMING, it really does help. Splash Mountain is a great ride and much tamer than it appears. It may help you to know that I was always the person who refused to ride anything with a drop in it. I rode Splash Mountain for the first time about three years ago and now it's my favorite ride. SO GO FOR IT!:teeth:

SUCK IT UP!!! SM is so fantastic inside, you have to do it. The only "bad" part is the last drop, just close your eyes and bury your head in your DH's shoulder. It will be all over before you know it, the first time is the worst.

I agree with most others as it took me WAY to long to finally decide to ride (this and TOT). Once I did it became my favorite ride in all of WDW. Most of the ride is just really wonderfully themed, a story based on song of the south and each time I ride I see something I never noticed before. The "drop" is quick and toward the end and even if you hate it the rest of the ride makes up for it.

Like my 5yo told me, try it once mom and if you don't like it you never have to ride again, but at least you'll know!

I absolutely adore this ride! I am a 50 year old woman who gets nervous just thinking about driving to a destination she is not familiar with. The ride has a story and it is fun, silly and pure fantastic Disney. The drop is meant to evoke pangs of anticipation. But I think it is thrilling and enjoyable. Think of the beautiful view of the castle peeking out and the spray in the face and the briar patch right above you as you scoot under it. The feeling of pride that you accomplished this major feat along with your intrepid explorers in the log is something you cannot measure. But, trust me, it is an exhilarating experience and not at all threatening to your inner workings. Unlike Space Mountain, which throws, thrusts and plummets you all over the place--this ride is best enjoyed with a child's heart and the soul of a timid warrior.

By the way, this ride is particularly gorgeous at night. When you round the area with the birdhouses in the trees and spot the castle all lit up--it will literally take your breath away. Don't miss this ride--please!!
Love, Wilma:wave:

Thanks so much everyone for all of the encouragment and hints for giving this ride a try! I knew I came to the right place, you have all been so helpful and I feel so much better knowing others have been unsure about this ride before their first time too! Thanks again!!

Wilma Flintstone, you just made me pine to be back at WDW - I forgot temporarily how nice Splash is at night with the view! Rode it 4x on the E-Ride night during my March/03 visit.

Thanks for the memories:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Just remind yourself that dead guests spend no money, therefore, it is not in Disney's best interests to kill you off on the rides!
